exactly! it's funny how many times "jack of all trades and a master of none" was said to me with a negative connotation, but the real quote would have empowered me!

This definitely describes me. Nothing ever feels good enough career wise because I get bored super easily and feel like I’m pushing my other passions to the side.
yup, you have to accept the only thing that will fulfill you is a bit of time freedom to pursue whichever passion is tugging at you that day :)
Many years ago, I had to visit a job fair at my school. Little me was exploring and then some white dudes in suits stopped me to talk about their banking career. I told them I had no time to talk right now because I wanted to go to a speech about translating careers. They all started laughing and one of them said "Ah, so what do you want to be? I guess a homeless freelancer." I had never heard the word before at that time but it made me so sad. I could never forget this moment. What followed were so many insecurities about my interests and what I want to be when I grow up.
Now I'm happy to report that I am indeed a freelancer and I couldn't be happier. Thank you so much for this video and for showing people the upsides of freelancing❤️❤️ Little me would be so happy if she had seen this video back then.

it's such a relief!
Being too specialized can be problematic. Doctors without bandwidth diagnose from their field of expertise. The patient may get conflicting recommendations for treating a malady. The surgeon recommends: surgery; the podiatrist: special insoles; the chiropractor: adjustments and the psychiatrist: talk therapy. I believe having a wide of interests and insights makes us more valuable to ourselves an to society. Great Video!
I've never thought of it like that, but you're so right! Even in my own career as a freelancer, the more niches and roles I take on, the better I am at problem solving and considering multiple different strategies!

You are blessed to be this way, in this time in history, when mature internet provides so many great options that didn't exist 40 years ago, as I struggled to be likewise.
I do feel very lucky to have opportunities at my fingertips, the irony is there's so much at our fingertips that we get distracted haha
@@guidingcreatives It just took different effort to get distracted back in the day, like a physical library etc. Term multipotentialite concept didn't even exist either when I was try to explain why I wanted to use then new Bachelors of University Studies to take 20+ credits each in Psychology, Business and Political Science with other classes in Pharmacy and Speech Departments. I kept getting asked "So what do you want to be when you grow up?" I can clearly see who you are and what you are doing and absolutely love it!
Thank you for sharing! I’ve been feeling like something is wrong with me for getting bored easily. Once I learn something, I’m like, “What’s next??”
Also, I’m getting extremely bored with my 9-5pm and feel trapped because I’m not being creative and feel myself getting distracted to finish my work.
I can totally relate, that's why I like freelancing and content creation because I can try new things without having to go through it being approved - I always feel guilty for getting bored of things because I know I should be grateful, but I've gotten more comfortable with understanding that I can appreciate something while simultaneously wanting something more :)
@guidingcreatives do you have a video about freelancing? I'm also in a 9-5 trap and am so close to quitting. I have a lot ways I can think of for side gigs based on all my interests and experiences/jobs I've had but being an adult and trying to play it straight and smart is telling me not to quit my 9-5. However, I would be so much happier working 3 part time jobs instead of one full-time.

My own mother called me a dilatant, shamed me for my interests. Took many years to erase that voice,
I still feel the weight of expectations and opinions even though my freelance career is successful, it's hard to push past what is told to us and taught to us - but the main thing is we keep pushing!
I'm now 71. PhD, world-traveled, author of two published novels, and self-sufficient.

Aahh thank you for posting this! I'm so glad I found it! It's so hard to find resources for multipassionate people. Around this time a year ago there was probably only half as much content as their is now. And it's still such a small niche. I'm happy it's growing and we have people like you sharing your thoughts and experiences.

as long as there's life to live, you can always use it!
We are family of the same feather. Ive done so many different things,just to pay bills n try 2 keep up,,now all the misadventures all compliment my main focuses. Im finishing an Engineering degree in Mechatronix, while I taught myself to weld, which enabled my palate to grow exponentially. I grew up arond a woodshop,and will love it 4 life. But now that Ive embraced more substantial materials, Ive grown in skills n thrills. Im building stringed instruments, (bass,6guitar,violins,cajone, steel pan drums, and various other intruments. Ive been making stained glass sinc e I learned how to one summer @ the YMCA. Ive thrown pots since the 80's in at Sanhills C.C. N.C.
I dont tire of one thing,, and just move on, just the opposite,all of these different loves in my life compliment each other, and I know I will incorporate all of this in my robotics, and beyond. Oh ,,yea ,,Ive been a thespian All my life,on stage, back stage,and usually head set dresser. Im not a very good painter, but I doit anyway, Cause I Enjoy it. A soul shrivels, when one's curiosities are exhausted or, ignored. Breathe deep the beauty And diversity presented to Very few generations, much less eras, like the one we're in presently ,..Relish the diversity, especially NOW. It might not come around again ,if ever.
