Armada popped off as if that was Grand Finals. This was a crucial set honestly. If Hbox won I think he would've just swept through Zain and M2k would've been debateable since he was training with Mango's puff.
I did a pop off at the same time that Armada, I was about to cry afterwards. This was one of the most amazing pop off I've seen and I'm really happy he won that set. I feel like he got rid of a lot of frustration he has had after been defeated so many times by HBox. Regardless of how this tournament ended (and it ended very well), I'm just happy that he could win this and Plup's set also.
Armada knew that this was his last opportunity to assert himself as the better player over Hbox since he propably made the decision to quit before this tournament. Man, I miss him so much.

Regardless of all the Top 8s I’ve watched live in the last 6 years, missing this Top 8 is a huge regret. Armada’s pop off here has become one of my favorite moments in melee and I’m probably responsible for about 5k of the views.

I checked out Armada's twitter and there was a Ethan Brun who was talking about how much they grinded the match up and that he's just so happy to win after losing so many times in a row. However, this reminds me of the opposite as well. When Hungrybox was getting destroyed consecutively by Armada and when he finally won, he had pretty much the same words. He had to grind the match up and become better. The back and forth from the counter pick wars to how it currently stands between these two is a great part of Melee. To me at least. . .
And remember how people responded to Hbox when he became emotional for overcoming his demons? I see many of them here celebrating Armada's display, which has no more a guarantee of genuineness than Hbox's.
But that's not an advantage for Hbox, because that leaves him less prepared for Puff's other (less) difficult MUs. Mang0 took advantage of that fact with his Falco, remember? It's not all sunshine and roses for the Box. Furthermore, the reason everyone's going for against Hbox (despite knowing he's prepared in the MU) is because Fox bodies Puff so hard it doesn't even matter. I'd rather play an even matchup I know fairly well than play a 3-7 MU that I know like the back of my hand. I suspect the Box would agree with me. Just keep in mind that the "one MU to prep" is a single upside to a load of implicit downsides.
Pizza Shark what downside aside from the fact that Fox is going to play keep away because trades will never be in his favor due to lack of recovery? Both sides will spam non committal moves against the other but Puff has a OHKO move against Fox and Fox have to respect it. If Puff didnt have rest there is no reason for the current lame style we see since they will gamble for the bad trades cuz of slightly better stage presence. Gone are the days morons say Fox Puff is 70-30 Fox. The matchup is even strictly due to how tournament settings work and how big a wildcard Rest is. Tekken applies this logic as well and for one of the biggest and most successful fighting games to take into account how execution can make or break a MU and just each character accordingly; I refuse to believe the Melee community would have their heads so far up their own ass and not realize the same applies to this game
As for Falco well across all lvls Falco is also played at a higher frequency than Puff is but there's also the sad reality that aside from pillar combos and better laser. If you know Fox Puff you also know Falco Puff

Whether or not 7-3 Fox favor is the accurate description is highly contentious (and I will admit that), but regardless of what the exact numbering is, the MU is clearly well in Fox's favor. This is not a debate, even at the highest level of play. Puff gets bopped. That's the reason Armada, Westballz, Mew2King, etc. all go Fox against Hbox, DESPITE the aforementioned "advantage" of MU preparedness. Surely you must see this.

Came back after hearing his retirement. I think beating Hbox was the last thing that had him motivated to win. Just he's put so much into his game, and puff used at her peak can just invalidate so much work. So starting here and having a string of wins on Juan finally out his mind at peace (obviously i don't think armada uses spite as motivation) but look at this pop off
