DeeJayCee People refer Lil yachty, Lil Uzi, Lil Wayne, drake as Hip Hop which pisses me off, they aren't considered it, they're a different genre. Trap! hahahahaha
CLASSIC ALL AROUND. Kanye helped common recover from common's previous flop album and they both created what is seen to be common best album. RIP DILLA too
Facts brotha. In fact "Love Is..." and "It's your world" are both in my top 3 favourite songs on this album but all the songs on this album are flawless. Big Respect to J Dilla and Kanye West for this project 👊
Kanye is genius, Dilla is genius. Top 11 productions of all time for me! Illmatic - NAS/ Be - COMMON/ Late Registration - KANYE/ Mbdtf - KANYE/ Reasonable Doubt - JAY/ The Infamous - MOBB DEEP/ Supreme Clientele - GHOSTFACE/ The Score - FUGEES/ Madvillainy - MADVILLAIN/ Only Built 4 Cuban Linx - RAEKWON/ The Chronic 2001 - DR. DRE
Don't 4get; One Day it Will All Make Sense, Finding Forever, and Can I Borrow a Dolla. That’s 6 classic albums. And his other 5 albums are far from wack. Peace/luv/ONE
Made my day. I know some dont appreciate "samplers", but how else you gonna bridge the gap. Wouldnt know about some of these gems if they werent in hip hop and rap. RESPECT.
When I heard the Chi City Sample I was literally bopping my Head and smiling in happiness. That song took me back to my youth when my mom put this album on for long drives in the car to Toronto. Vin, you did me proud 👊👊👊👊👊
I can't believe that album is 12 yrs old. I remember when I bought it, I was at Circuit City. I opened it in the store and took it to the car radio section, and bumped it for the whole store to hear. Excellent Intro to a Classic Hip Hop Album
You mean Intoxicated Demons or Street Level? I think ID was an EP but not too sure so I think that would make Street Level technically their first album. Either one would be dope though!
I love this series, and admittedly, I spend more time than I should watching them. This one however, triggered me to comment! Absolutely brilliant work, thank you!
This album is such a great example of things aligning perfectly. Dilla was initially supposed to produce a majority of this project, but he began having complications from his blood disease, so Kanye took the reigns and created one of his most iconically produced projects.
The creativity that goes into sampling is amazing, the tracks are samples but they sound so original, it’s something I wouldn’t be able to do even in my dreams
Great vid but I can't ignore the fact that he didn't play "Love is". That song was incredible bruh.. it samples Marvin Gaye's "God is Love". RIP J Dilla
I know, thought I had that on Wax, but unfortunately I looked and I did not. Although I do own the Marvin Gaye "What's Going On" album, Dilla apparently sampled Love Is... from the Marvin Gaye 45 version. I hope you enjoyed regardless. Peace.
I'm so happy this exists man. I'm re defining myself and what I want to do and I know music has always made me happy, I always had an ear for it. I could see it, learning about this is learning a new new thing. a new instrument , a new influence!! a new learning and doing . :)
@VinRican Great job, Great video on a classic album, and 1 of my favorite albums by Common. Some of the samples surprised me in this video. 12 years today this album came out, where in the hell does time go? But, anyway, it's already 1 of my favorite videos from the Wax Only series, and I'm still enjoy watching the Wax Only series. Looking forward to more videos. Any chance on doing Wax Only on Common's Resurrection and Like Water for Chocolate albums? Also, about the 2Pac Me Against the World, if not on his birthday June 16 this year, maybe a Wax Only video on the album on the 21st anniversary of his passing?
what's happening Vin Rican this your boy DJ man you doing a good job on the wax only section especially this common be album section section just watching this section make me want to go to my wax and go my turntables you doing a good job keep up the good work I'm a look through my wax collection and I'll throw a little artist of you need to sample from how ever I have The Sylvers and The Tavares all their albums and if you need any songs that I can detail you on hit me up

Cluckin Bell Hell yea and I hate ppl that say "we need the Old Kanye back", wen Kanye still is a surgeon at sampling!
DeeJayCee People refer Lil yachty, Lil Uzi, Lil Wayne, drake as Hip Hop which pisses me off, they aren't considered it, they're a different genre. Trap! hahahahaha

Both he & Dilla did
Kanye is genius, Dilla is genius. Charlie Digital
One of the best intros to an album ever imo.
Charlie Digital gamechanger.

When I heard the Chi City Sample I was literally bopping my Head and smiling in happiness. That song took me back to my youth when my mom put this album on for long drives in the car to Toronto. Vin, you did me proud 👊👊👊👊👊

This album is such a great example of things aligning perfectly. Dilla was initially supposed to produce a majority of this project, but he began having complications from his blood disease, so Kanye took the reigns and created one of his most iconically produced projects.

I know, thought I had that on Wax, but unfortunately I looked and I did not. Although I do own the Marvin Gaye "What's Going On" album, Dilla apparently sampled Love Is... from the Marvin Gaye 45 version. I hope you enjoyed regardless. Peace.
