    I was very lucky to have been married to a very good hairdresser, in the eighties he would bleach my hair gradually over a long afternoon and the the next day apply my chosen colour..sometimes we went for the bright Crazy Colour brands but my favourite were the red and copper tones by Loreal, so vibrant and shiney...he never burnt my scalp or made any hair break off..he passed away last year and I miss him greatly, not just for his hair skills 😊

      If the hair dresser is good, none of it will ever touch your scalp. I’ve had blonde and highlights my whole life and never gotten anything on my scalp. They wrap them in foil to protect your head. I can’t believe she told you that. Although I also had a hair dresser once that told me things about coloring. My current one told me that my last one had no clue what she was talking about. Sometimes you don’t even know who’s good and who’s not.

Both suggested a caramel type of blonde. I went with their suggestions. The stylists I went with said we would do the bleaching in two appointments. When I went platinum from dyed bright red (with natural dark blonde to brown hair), I did it slowly over the course of 3 months. It worked and I lost no hair. A hairdresser even commented on how good the condition of my hair was and I have v fine hair, but a lot of it.
    If you have to do these things at home, take your time and be prepared to walk around with unwanted results for a bit as to let your hair and scalp rest/recover if it doesn't work in one go.

    I have definitely learned to take fine sections from you, Hair Buddha. I trim my husband's hair. He has long, Jim Morrison style hair. Last night, after he had washed it clean, I sat him in a chair, clipped the top section out of the way and trimmed the under layer, section by section. It took quite some time.
    I then unpinned the top sections and trimmed those too, section by section. Making sure that the sections underneath were longer than the sections on top. He really loves it and is getting compliments on it. Though I must admit, I miss his longer hair! At least it will grow. The sectioning and layering does seem to have helped, though.

    50 volume is ABSOLUTELY UNNECESSARY. I agree with the 20, and IF you INSIST on using higher, mix equal parts of 20 and 30 AT THE MOST. My hair is scarily resilient, so I have fallen asleep with bleach in my hair and just ended up with hair as white as my skin. My scalp was a bit sensitive, but I was incredibly lucky with that. I honestly don't understand why 40 volume is even available for public use. Ridiculous.
    Also. Just gotta say. WARM blonde looks beautiful in my opinion.

      I do wonder if it's the same price though? I think you can only dilute it with another volume level for bleaching (so, like a 10vol of at least 50/50..) but I think conditioner works for coloring. So a single bottle could last a very long time when used that way.

    I started to mix equal amounts lightest beige blonde (T11 ) with T18 and 10V developer and it gives me lovely natural blonde hair. I love CT14 color tango but sometimes it’s out of stock and it’s not as strong as the T11-18 combo so I alternate between the two and they’re pretty much the same result. Also, I have dark natural hair so it took me many shades and several months to get where I am now and I’m absolutely happy with the outcome!

    I recently had a hair fail. BUT we were able to fix it. First time around we missed a few spots and some areas were too orange. Second time we put bleach on the dark spots we missed and then when I was close to being done did the orange parts. Came out pretty even. It was the underside of my hair which we dyed with iroiro plum. It looks pretty good now. Is it perfect? No. But I do like my result.

She has that hair, so, everyone wants it! and now with the new Targarian GOT offshoot series (they all have platinum blond hair!) the craze has intensified! For myself, I prefer Platinum jewellery to platinum blond hair. I usually do my hair (in the salon) in coppers and reds (looks good on me too!), or do henna at home. I love your videos! I had a natural platinum friend and was so jealous as a kid (8yo). I thought I'd do that when I got older. Never did. My hair is fine, plenty of red undertones, I dye it to a deeper brown/ash/mahogany tone now (early grays 😭). If I want blonde, I wear a wig. 🤔

    • @cetkat
      @cetkat 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have tons of grays. It started at 16. Unfortunately, reds go gray faster.. so nearly all my red undertones I used to have are gone now. How do you like the mahogany mixed in with the brown? What do you use for your coloring? I'm thinking about testing out trying to add warmth back into my hair with a toning process. I'm not trying to go the normal route of covering all the gray.. but leave it in. A 6-10vol wouldn't touch it.. but would deposit on my other brown strands and hopefully highlight the differences that are left. I've never tried anything like that before though, so I'm slowly looking for a good, natural color mix.

    • @W1shonafish
      @W1shonafish 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@cetkat I go all over with color, then touch up when I feel it's gone too far 🤣. It's a 20 vol developer. And what you said about the red graying out makes so much sense. I use a mail-order dye kit you can buy online. The color specialist mix it up to match what I like. It's definitely harsher than what you're considering, but it does it's job well. If I don't love the results, they can mix up a different color, but usually has to be darker for good results (color doesn't lift color). I tried box dye once and never again - I'd rather mix my own or buy from a specialist.

    • @cetkat
      @cetkat 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@W1shonafish Is the specialist part of the mail-order company? Or do you take the colors to someone to mix? Who do you order from?
      I don't know too much about dyes, but it seems like the difference between toners, semi, demi, and permanent ones are part the amount of pigment, and then how strong of a developer you use. For gray's, they use something like "NN".. so a super pigmented permanent color. Because regular won't cover right.
      I might be completely wrong.. but it seems like you could make a toner permanent, and a semi/Demi/and low pigment permanent a toner - by swapping the developer rules?? I've actually thought about mixing two different levels together. One with more red that's one level lighter, then another with less red/different shade that's my natural level. Because I do still have some natural variation.. some strands are lighter than others.. so the lighter strands could take in the stronger red tone.. and it wouldn't turn everything red. The darker one would act on both and adjust things. Maybe?

    • @cetkat
      @cetkat 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@W1shonafish There was a time I did box dye, and I loved it.. it was before the gray and basically one shade lighter than my natural hair color. The formula was perfect for me, so I got really lucky. It saved me a ton of money too when I added honey highlights to it once. Instead of a whole dye job, I had the base color done already.. so the hairdresser only had to do foil highlights. I did tell her about the box dye.. but basically.. she just had to get it one more level lighter and at an easy color for my hair. I think the service was only $40.. though I did tip well. But that was my "perfect color" at that age. I still think it was a much better match for my complexion.
      I'm pretty sure it wouldn't work now, but I got lucky then.

      I've heard that bleach eats through the oil - so that's not a good way to block the bleach if you don't want it to touch that section. I can see how it would make solid application much more difficult though and cause a ton of missing spots.

      Yup, heavy oils like mineral oil etc are the problem ones and cause dark patches to be left behind in hair that was previously died dark colors the main problem is when people saturate their hair with them, the roots would bleach because of the scalp heat
      Removing dark colors I use hair dye remover (Color Oops my fav) or a mix of equal amounts of 10 or 20 vol developer with hair conditioner or the same mix with shampoo if you want on the dyed parts it works.keep your head covered with a shower cap or plastic bag to keep it warm, afterward you'll get a more even bleaching.
