Thank you for reacting to our Great tradition Lucia! Jonna Jinton is absolutely amazing . She normaly makes a new Lucia video every year. But this year I havent yet seen any.. 😞 However her Lucia video "The Night of Light",...Her version of Swedens National Anthem (Du Gamla Du Fria) ....and most of all her video " Sweden - Midnight Sun and Polar Nights " are both amazingly good!!! Many people on the internet says that Jonna doeasnt really exist . She is too much of an Angel..But She does exist!!! ....And she is living deep in the forest and countryside of Sweden - in the middle north. Nearest city is Sollefteå..... .In her village there are absolutely No light pollution . Go see and get amazed!! I promise....You will not regret it :-)
I love Jonna Jinton! We celebrate Lucia all over Sweden, in kindergarten, in schools and in work places. I work at the Swedish Police force, we had a beautiful Lucia celebration with a Lucia with candles in her hair and both a female and male choir singing Lucia songs. Some of them in police uniforms! Much love and hope you feel better soon!
Jonna's voice is special and her renditions of Swedish songs have a unique quality (as far as what I have heard at least). If I'd apply any adjective to describe it I would call it Ethereal. Another reactor I watched said that they bet that she had sang in a church choir which seems likely if you ask me. Some background about the tradition in Sweden from my own childhood. In every Primary- and High school in Sweden a vote is held and a girl is appointed to be the school's Lucia. This also, where I lived, happened on the city level. The local newspaper put up a vote for a number of local girls around 18 years old or so and the subscribers would vote and whoever won became the city's Lucia. She would usually win a small prize as well. In our school we would form a Lucia procession that would sing in the auditorium, walk around the school and parents would come to the performance. We also visited the local elderly home and performed the same song for them (the same one Jonna sings in the video). We would have a Lucia procession when we were very young too (4-5 years till about 9), but back then any little girl could dress like Lucia if she wanted to. The boys would dress up as gingerbread men or santa's elves. I think that these days the voting thing isn't done as much anymore because it is seen as a beauty contest of sorts (which frankly it was in my day) and that is sort of seen as a bit politically incorrect I think. I may be wrong, but I don't remember seeing anything about votes on Lucia lately. Which is a bit sad if you ask me, but times change I guess.
nice one if my favorit artist and greate song it is it is usually a choir that sings these and every kindergarten dos this the 13 and some stuff like this Luciamorgon i Kungsholms Kyrka 2022
Oh, I'm so sorry you had to do this reaction when you are obviously so sick. Thank you for going the extra mile. It is a lovely song, steeped in tradition. And, this video is so beautiful, and calming. I love these high Nordic voices. They strike a chord in me for some reason. Jonna Jinton, Aurora, Eivor, Johanna Kurkela all have such lovely soprano voices. And, there are lots of great tenors, too -- Tommy Johansson, Marko Hietala, Jarko Ahola. I realize that there are a couple of names there that you haven't featured yet. Give me time, I'll give you some examples. But, in the meantime, take care of yourself and get better quickly.
Jonna is beautiful. Lives in northern Sweden. ❄️ (Me too) Tip: Jonna sings the Sweden's national anthem. In Sweden it is tradition with Lucia. It already starts in kindergarten. Lucia train. Hug from Sweden 🇸🇪
I am sorry to learn you were feeling under the weather when recording this. Hopefully you are feeling better now. Just following on with the Nordic theme I think you would really enjoy reacting to any one of a number of performances from Eivør, who comes from the Faroe Islands. She is a classically trained singer who can do anything from folk to jazz, opera and rock. She provides all the background singing and tribal vocalisations on the Netflix Viking drama series ‘The Last Kingdom’. My top recommendation would be ‘Eivør - Falling Free (Live from the Old Theatre in Torshavn)’. It has left every reactor who has done this one stunned - one of the truly great live performances.

Got here randomly on a recommendation. Was hoping you had reacted to more of her videos since but apparently you've not :/ But it's never to late! Her video about midnight sun & polar nights is a must watch. If you did react to it, lmk link cuz youtube search doesn't show any (on your channel)
This goes way back. Basicly the celebration of Lucia started with the Christians ”changing” the cause of celebration from the pagans celebrations and sacrificial rites of the winter solstice. It has changed quite a lot throughout the centuries.

Basically, if there’s a Saint all Swedes know of, it’s Saint Lucia.
I don't think the Lucia celebration now has anything to do with the actual saint anymore, except using her name.
