There is this one technique they used, it's called "good writing". It causes our brains to follow the story intently and care for what happens on the screen, so that all that cinematography has a purpose.
For sure, like I said in the video, cinematography supports the story, great filmmaking on its own can’t easily carry a film, but a good script without the support of great cinematography can be just as detrimental to a film! Thanks for the comment!
The shaking camera in Kenobi drives me crazy. Every single scene has a shaky camera. It doesn't look good and it doesn't make me think in different ways about the scene, it just makes me think that the cameraperson has very very shaky hands and they should get a tripod
I totally agree, it drives me crazy how much shaky cam was in this show. I don’t understand why this decision was made. It’s needless, disorienting, and distracting! It’s one thing to shoot on a shoulder mount like a lot of the scenes in rogue one (which has a small amount of shake in some scenes), but this was on another level.
It seems like the only person who knows how to film the volume is Greig Fraser, cinematographer for the Mandalorian and The Batman, as well as Rogue One.
A lot of people I know have really enjoyed it, myself included, although I can see why some fans wouldn’t like it so much. It’s certainly different. To each his own I guess!
I don't know if I think it's great, but I'm watching it. Think it will get even better once all those pieces start coming together.. Maybe.. I'm mor interested in the story and settings than camera angles, though I agree anoying and excessive camera shaking just gets annoying.

@@weirdpigeonproductions I was not trying to counter your accurate conclusions, consider my comment as a side note.
Loving the videos!
03:13 You don't realize it's happening...BUT IT'S HAPPENING. Best line of the video
Haha thank you!
Cinematography is nothing without a great script, and Andor has some of the best writing Star Wars has ever seen.
Definitely, I made a video on the writing of Andor if you wanna check it out! th-cam.com/video/T6f6_xSFv8E/w-d-xo.html
Another great video. Very insightful! I was surprised to hear a drum set in one of the episodes!
So was I! I absolutely loved it, and although it was different I felt like it really worked!
Boba kept going ... Bacta the future

I’m definitely a fan of his work, I’ll have to include him in my video on the volume for sure!
@@weirdpigeonproductions Glad to hear it!
Really good vid, hoping for andor to keep getting better. So far so good
Thank you! I’m excited for the next episode!
And here i sit mostly hearing people echoing my own thoughts about Andor: slow and pointless. Who're those people who love it so much?

This show is definitely an improvement when compared to the other Star Wars shows we have gotten this year
It’s weird as I am having a hard time watching Andor but loved Rogue One
I guess Jedi mind tricks don't work on you then... (in Watto voice) only money...
