The Q30-Q40 have great features but depth on small coins is limited to 8 inches, at greater depths all you hear are those buzzing distorted sounds lol. I purchased the Quest X10 Pro and love it, even with the smaller 9 1/2 inch DD coil the depth characteristics and recovery speed are very similar to my Simplex+ with 11 inch DD coil, amazing machine!.
Another great video. Very cool. Hey just a bit of trivia the old minelab SD and GP Series of gold detectors were analogue and the GPX Series and GPZ are digital. When it comes to EMI the analogue series run so much better then the digital. I had a GP extreme and my mate had a GPX 4000 and a storm was heading towards us. My detector was rock solid stable and his was going berserk! So yea there you go.
Todd.. yeah man the analogue stuff ignored EMI like no Digital can do.. The more tech in the detectors the more internet and WiFi is gonna make them chatter..
Have you tried a snap on emi filter? You can get 2 for 14.00$ they are used on a lot of electronic equipment to protect signal interference. Look around and you will find it! It worked on mine! I can snap it on no emi take it off and I get interference. Tested it it works in some situations.
really that magnet thing that snaps on a cable? have you tried it on a detector? because in this case its the coil that is picking up the EMI not the cable - ill ask subscribers on my TECH-TALK videos if anybody has been successful doing that - thanks wayne
It proved itself to me in Daytona this week I ALWAYS GET BAD interference to the point I can't hunt between my hotel I stay at regularly and the one Nextdoor. I walked right thru with no noise this trip. Took it off and tried and got the interference. The lights on the pier are a different story. They still gave interference. Like to know what you find out from the crew. I like your videos! Keep swinging! Good luck!
I have tried those , from putting 1 to 5-6 up and down the cable on 2 detectors. It does absolutely nothing only wasted money. The only thing that works is a smaller coil. The bigger the coil the worse it gets

It has more to do with the Frequency of the detector and the harmonic frequencies by the EMI source.. I knew there was much more to this then strapping the magnet to my cable--
Just ordered the simplex,so glad it did well. Was searching for a 705 but could not find a good deal on one,,yeah I would take 705 over the noxes,especially if you have mars tiger coil on it. To bad thier discontinued, they should reissue them,,emi is not going to get any better.
Merry Christmas! I wonder how the Equinox 800 would do at that park. You can manually change noise channels on the 800; maybe that would help. I also wonder how the Vanquish 540 would do in that EMI. Do you still have the 540?
No the 540 is gone! The Quest q40 has 8 frequency shift channels and it didn't help. The Minelab x-terra has 5 frequency shift channels but didnt need to use any of them
I have the Nox 800 . Thats got the advanced settings . It gave me a lot of noise on a dig once when under pylons . I put it into 19 or 15 khts and it was stable . Oh , that Terra . I do wish i had a need for one and wish it was properly upgraded to a Mk 2 .
My Nox would not stabilize in any frequency.. The X-terra 705 has Great EMI filtering with its digital converter technology VFLEX .. I love the tones, Its stable - not noisy and chatty .. in 18khz i find lots of small jewelry and it loves silver rings!
This is what made me so mad at the xterra (I believe that is the one) as the MDs back then had the frequencies tech in the coil so you couldn't just make your own. That means it would not work with other units as well. I am so glad we left that behind.
Great video! Just wondering what you had the sensitivity set at on the nox600? You never mentioned it on this one like you did on the other machines, looked like it was running close to maxed out.
i never run it up high.. it cant handle that park.. Not trying to "Knock the NOX" its a known fact that EMI is its weakness... Its the most expensive detector i own so I expected a lot better stability from the NOX..

I knew it was the machine, and why I went off on that idiot blaming you on the last video. Not saying if it is broken or how it works now I was just saying that for where you detect to get rid of it, and this confirms it. The other thread is gone but I hate it when some idiot blames the user instead of the machine. No damn PEBKAC will I tolerate when I know machines that are chatty like it is PLUS the user has shown (which you have on countless vids) they are competent enough to know what is going on.
It bugged me so much I had to go back and confirm with all the detectors. Why is the Equinox so unstable near EMI? It is a flagsip detector of minelab but this is its Achilles heel ...
@@VegasDtech This makes me afraid of the Nokta. Just because the Simplex works right doesn't mean the Legend will. Could it very well be the MF of the Equinox? As Mr. Rhythm said in DC Cab "That which makes you may also break you" meaning the MF is their main selling point but the tech that allows it may also be the culprit of it being chatty. I have my suspicions of what is happening.

Also something to consider is that both the quest and equinox had larger coils which acts like big antennas attracting more emi
