I remember riding horseback on a ridge about 2 hours west of Johannesburg in the 90s. It was an overcast, breezy day, & a pair of black eagles just sailed over the crest of the ridge, right in front of us. It was primeval! They were just ~10m in front of us, at our eye-level on horseback. Never forgot it.
