I think it helps show that he has always liked Alex. They changed the wording from the book, but the meaning is still there and sweet 😍

As someone who also reads the book, i feel like everything happens so quickly in this movie 🤣🤣 but nonetheless i still love it, especially their chemistry
Agree! It’s so fast paced that the movie audience who haven’t read the book will find it hard to get attach to HRH Henry and Alex but the two actors’ chemistry, acting, and delivery of speech made me sit through the entire movie. I swear it’s like seeing Henry and Alex alive.
Agree and they left out some stuff that would have made the whole leak more sense. I personally really missed the moment Henry didn’t want to let Alex into the palace, some really funny stuff was left out.
Really hope this was a mini series :)
When I first heard the news that they were adpating RWRB, I was so sure it would be a mini-series like Heartstopper, but the trailer mentioned it was a movie and I admit I was a little disappointed at first. But after watching the movie, I fell in love with it. I still stand by the fact that a 6-8 episode mini-series with 45ish mins for each episode would have made all the characters far more lovable and the romance would have been incredible. Still, fantastic job!
this always happens, the book should be turn into series not movie, so many scenes were missing, even their love scenes were so fast, don't know why this film was rated R lol, the actors are my favorite, so I still love every bit of it but stilllllllll..........
The fact that Henry remembers what he said verbatim at their first encounter and can correct Alex and set the record straight right on the spot is pretty suspicious already.
When I read the book, I felt I was reading Alex's POV mostly. And I really wanted to know more about what was in Henry's mind. Cos he was a bit complex in some ways. When I saw the cast, I immediately saw Alex was perfect. Charming, dashing, outgoing, bubbling with energy. I haven't seen Nick's previous works and Henry is somewhat like a mystery anyway. So I had my expectations neutral. But after seeing the movie, I feel like I've read Henry's POV too. Cos oh boy his longing stares, hesitant glances, nervous fidgeting, measured smiles...perfect Henry for me. For instance, in this scene, the moment he takes before apologizing, swallowing hard collecting himself. Now I can really visualize how Henry would have looked in any scene from the book. Amazing performance. And I thank Nick for bringing us Henry in flesh.
i totally agree with you! When i saw the movie i thought “yeah this is the perfect henry” appearance and personality. His actions too. Nick definitely did an amazing job with this.

Alex and Henry are really great complements to each other. Alex is so vocal with his opinions and feelings. Whereas Henry can say 1000 words with a single glance. And through their relationship, I think they’ve learned from each other, though it feels like Henry has learned to be more expressive. Alex is still Alex for the most part.😂

Alex sulking is so cute in this scene. I absolutely love Taylor's portrayal. I know everyone is already saying he's perfect as Alex but lemme say it again. He is PERFECT as Alex. I honestly can't think & imagine anyone else playing this character other than Taylor. The way I fell in love with Alex & Taylor at the same time is insane to me. So glad I gave the book & the movie a chance.
Even the way they fell is exactly like in the book. I'm uncontrollably in love with this movie.

Henry remembering what he said exactly, because it was the moment he and Alex first met. 😭😭
It's been commented on before, but worth noting how sweet it was that in the moment Alex looks really scared and anxious at 0:44, Henry visibly notices this and decides to help ease Alex's anxiety by lightening the mood and complimenting Alex's cologne. It's a small, but really sweet moment and was a testament, not only to the screenwriting, but also to Nicholas' acting. He really makes it clear there why he's saying the line; it's a line in any other scene that would be difficult to fit in, but here it makes total sense the way he played it out. There are nuances like this that you catch when watching the movie on repeat 😅❤
I've watched this twice so far and plan to watch it many more times! I absolutely love it! Such an emotional rollercoaster with a superb cast! Awesome chemistry between the actors!

I do love how the movie is different from the novel at this part. In the novel, Henry indeed has said "get rid of him" which is a bit harsh, however, in the movie, what Henry said to Shaan is I need to get out of here and Alex misheard as "Get me out of here", which makes the beginning of the misunderstanding, sounds softer and a lot better to me.
It makes me wonder if that might have been movie Alex's way of justifying his dislike (which didn't work AT ALL).
This scene is so freaking cute.. the way Henry says "why do you dislike me?" 0:52 😂 and Alex pouting oh gad this 2 idiots

I know that this is a somewhat silly comment to add here, but I am a native English speaker and I found that turning ON the English subtitles really helped to nail the subtle nuances (especially Henry's witty dialogue), that many people might have missed. I have noticed this in several posts/comments below. For those re-watching this flick, I urge you to try the subtitles. It's a revelation... Trust me.
Even with my hearing aids turned all the way up it is hard for me to catch dialogue so I love subtitles.

I need to see more of them. There's alot of things in the book that would've been in here but obviously there's only so much you could cramp into a 2hr window. From the way it ended I think Henry's and Alex's relationship leaves more room for another movie. Amazon please think about it. I know there could be more told about them with a well written script.
If there’s one thing to learn in that closet, behind everything high society character is still a person. Henry needed more time but the palace wouldn’t listen.

I loved the movie from start to finish. The chemistry between the actors is incredible. Could not have been bettered. There are a few scenes that seriousky warm the cockles if my tired old heart, and this is certainly one of them. I loved it so much I bought the book. It is even better. I am rather hoping a sequel is in the works. Either that or they follow the idea of "More Than Only" and create a series of follow up short movies. MTO is up to 6 so far, and it is an interesting way to keep the characters engaging with the audience.

The more i rewatch this movie the more i see the subtle signs of Henry's feelings earlier on. Remembeing what he said, looks, and flirtiness to some of the jokes etc. Its great because it mirrors real life, when someone likes us we often don't notice at first unless its obvious

I am on Alex’s side on his first meeting with Henry I get why Henry was being rude to him on his first meeting his father just died and he was still greaving the loss of him and first meetings tend to set the tone of relationships
Yeah, I agree. Henry had no excuse for being rude to Alex in their first meeting; he could have at least given a polite little 'hi', but considering he was still grieving, he didn't want to talk to anyone. But at least he apologized later, though years later, and he and Alex were able to reset their relationship😊

This was one of the scenes they actually managed to translate well from the books. Otherwise they relied waaay too much on montage. They even managed to butcher the Turkey scene 🥲

It would behoove you to put on the English subtitles and re-watch this. There are SO many nuances in the language that many people, including myself, have missed. Henry's "asides" are very, very funny. So, please follow my suggestion. It works!
