Your Shizen looks great on you- it looks so flattering on your figure. I can’t wait to see your new WIP once it is done- it’s one of those hard to picture garments (probably for me because it is knit in pieces) but it looks so cool in that color! It reminds me of some of the greens in some of Monet’s water lily paintings. I added that book to my TBR list-I love books set in England and have been reading mysteries (my go to genre) and feel like a departure from that might be good for summer. I too am awkward with people I don’t know well. I will replay conversations in my mind for days thinking why did I say that!?!? I am big on quitting a book I don’t love too. My time is too precious to read anything I can’t wait to get to the next page in. I’m so glad I got to catch up with you! I finally had a low stress day and spent a glorious hour knitting my sock with you ❤

OMG - what a great Podcast….. love the Shizen (it’s in my queue), love Jacqueline Cieslak - knitted her Ursa in Q&Co’s Kestrel & it’s a VERY favourite of mine….. tried to make Mooncrush but graph weirdly stops at Row 28 (then what are you supposed to do??) so that was sadly abandoned……. Love all your pontifications - loved ‘One Day’ (both book & Netflix) & Archie comics entertained me for hours as a child growing up in Australian country side (I wanted to live in a mansion in the USA like Archie!)….. Well Done Lena👍👍
Hi Nina!! We grew up on opposite sides of the world but we both loved Archie!! 💜 As for Mooncrush…so interesting. I wonder if its because the top is cropped and that was the end?? That can’t be though. She must have anticipated knitters wanting to add length. I need to get to the bottom of this!
Game changer is to swatch with more than one needle size. . swatch with the a size down for x amount of rows, than the recommended needle size for x amount than go up a size for x amount of rows.
Yay! That lace and fade is so beautiful and unique. I think Shizen would be a fun knit for you too. Just enough interest to keep it fun and a really unique construction at the top!
So much to comment on! First, Archie comics....you had me smiling...I'm a bit older than you and remember if I'd find a dime I'd run to the store to buy the latest Archie comic book I did watch One Day, and I enjoyed it...I'll listen to your recommendation of You Are Here 😊. I just purchased Nettle and Bone by T.Kingfisher...i want to dive right in, but I'm saving it for travel reading later this summer. I absolutely love your Shizen...I hope mine looks half as nice on me! It's funny...for a while the pattern was a bit painstaking...I was having to check the pattern several times per row...but then I convinced myself to trust my ability to read my knitting, and it's like someone switched over in my brain! I enjoyed Young Sheldon. Not sure if you know this little fact...Laurie Metcalf played Sheldon's mom on Big Bang Theory...it's her daughter who plays his mom on YS A show that I was surprised that my kids enjoyed...Soap, from sometime in the 80's I believe. It was a satire on soap operas. Also, i think it was Billy Crystal's first big role. He played a gay guy, which was pretty unheard of back then
Also, I like that you seem to gravitate to patterns that are unique. I've recently found Doodles by Yumiko Alexander. I'll be hoping to find something in my stash that would suit it

I really want to go back and read it again! I did not know that about Young Sheldon! We never watched the Big Bang Theory…I need to try it out and see if it’s appropriate for my little one…its so tricky with shows. There is always too much sexual innuendo but I guess there’s no escaping it. I will look up Soap!! I love Billy Crystal! And love the Doodles top…I love the mix of sheer and opaque, always.
