Hello dear friend! #1 - Crested Butte is my soul’s happy place! I wanted to move there after my first visit and my husband was like “are you on drugs?!? We just bought a company!” So now it’s just my favorite vacation spot. #2 - I have also gone down a long no realization train of what I thought I liked to knit vs what I actually wear! It’s really helped me with wardrobe as well as home decor! When I recovered my patio cushions I realized I like solid cushions in light colors with vibrant throw pillows. Just a pop of color here and there! #3- I’m so glad to know the Big Cozy Cardi does not stay up because I bought yarn for that and havent started yet and like you I cannot stand when a cardi won’t stay on my shoulders!!! I think it goes along with that style of construction. I’m going to stick with cardis that have a real shoulder defined. Thank you so much for bringing that to my attn!!! #4- I am now going to be in the boat with the folks who just ripped out all the yarn on the items they knit that they do not love. I have given several things to Goodwill that I had completed, and I just did not enjoy, but from now on, I’m going to just rip it out rewind the yarn and use it for something else. #5- can I say that you bring out the gab in me! I don’t normally comment this much on the people I follow! Lol OK I waited until the end to see your Book Club cardi! I am a person who will read the last chapter of the book and then go back and read the entire book! And I have to say that you have completely sold me on not only the Book Club cardigan, but also on that cascade 220. I love the price point and because you’re saying it is so great to knit with I am willing to try it. I am usually a yarn snob but when you’re doing these big cardigans, it really gets Unreasonable. Hi Christy!! I loved your note. #1: CB is so magical, we love it so much. We don’t go as often because its a bit of a hike from Boulder, but you can’t beat it! Secret Stash and Bonez are my favorite restaurants there! #2: its better to have neutrals in your wardrobe, and to be able to add pops of colors. I do enjoy color more in shawls, so that’s where I get that out of my system! #3: the big cozy Cardi is an enormous amount of knitting, and turns out to be pretty but fussy. Generally impractical. #4: Rip away girl. That is the beauty of knitting vs. sewing. We can repurpose our material! #5: I would love to be a yarn snob, but these days an affordable non-SW yarn brings me way more joy!! Thanks for watching! I’m grateful for you!
It's so disappointing when we put so much effort and hope into a sweater than doesn't end up being what we wanted. It's really nice that you love your Book Club Cardigan. Cable knitting is so much more work but it's so beautiful. I do have a favorite cardigan, which I 100% recommend: Portage by Melissa Schaschwary. It's a lot of work but it's truly beautiful and worth it.

I appreciate you talking about these cardis! I haven't been knitting long enough to have a real test of how knit fabric wears over time so this was fascinating. I really want to make a big cozy cardi but all those collar stitches is like a whole sweater in itself.
We lived in Colorado for only 1 year 30 years ago. Oh my gosh… I absolutely loved it. I cried when we had to move back to Florida. We drove through Colorado 2 1/2 years ago on our way moving to California. My son didn’t remember living in CO and he really loved our 1 week there visiting with friends. So… he and his wife both loved it there. It is on the possible list as forever home in 4 years.

How lovely podcast! Love all the honest musings: hits and misses as well! Love the Bookclub cardi, it is absolutely gorgeous and love the colour tone you chose. Here is a tip for fixing all the pile on that beautiful cardi (number one on your pod) that you feel is "ruined". Take a regular razor, preferrably a new and sharp one. Hold the garment flat and rtght against the table with one hand. With the other shave very carefully over the surface, removing the pile, little area at a time. You will be surprised how great a facelift your garment gets! Just be careful not to go too close to the knit itself. Tried and proven! I am a beginner as a knitter, but do want to get to the next level and start my first cardigan. Have a great time! Love your channel! ❤

Thanks for this interesting episode. I too have those nice but frustrating pieces. On several cardigans that don’t close, I’ve crocheted small loops (just using a simple crochet chain) and sewn on buttons on the opposite side. That works really well when you don’t have buttonholes, in case you are interested. Happy knitting and best wishes for a great fall!

Loved your cardigan parade and what you enjoyed and didn't enjoy about them. I got a tip from a podcaster to crochet a slip stitch or single crochet along the edge of a sweater neckline to tighten it up. It worked for me so maybe it would work on a cardigan. Good job on the Book Club Cardigan!

You have had an interesting knitting journey. My mission this year has also been to find the best cardigan to knit. I did not like the book club cardigan, but I love the way yours turned out. It has a different vibe than the original. I have chosen the cardigan #9 by My Favorite Things knitwear and I am knitting it out of Noro yarn which I have had in my stash for years and am happy to use it rather than get new. I want a jacket like cardigan to wear out and about and saw another TH-camr who had knitted it out of Noro. I would not have thought it would look good in that yarn but it looks great! And it is a blend of cotton, silk and wool so won’t be itchy I think. Thanks for sharing!

Isabel Kraemer has such lovely patterns, but I can tell that they're designed for shapes like her - she has such a slight frame with dainty shoulders and I am the opposite so I've been scared to knit any of her designs. I want to thank you for sharing your cardigan knit journey I like your honesty about the yarn the pattern and the fit You put in a lot of work into them and they all look great I just want to share with you a suggestion about how to keep them from falling off the shoulders I was watching a quick video on you tube it’s called the snugglery She resolved her oversized item by sewing some elastic thread around it I don’t think you need it all around but you might try just pulling some stitches together along the neck part and see how it feels Try it with just one and see if it works Gather gently some stitches along the neckline where no one can notice and see if that works You have done beautiful work and you should enjoy wearing it as well , You deserve it Looking forward to your next knit 👏
Such a good video! And very informative. I agree with you that the yarn/fiber choice is a huge factor in the success of a knit, and it does take some time and experimentation to get a feel for that. I would recommend you try Elsawool. It is 100% Cormo, comes only in natural shades. It is woolly, light, and completely non-scratchy. I’m so glad your Bookclub cardi was a success! It is so beautiful.
New subscriber here! I'm new to knitting and more comfortable with crochet, so it's great to see your progression. The fiber matters, and Cascade 220 is apparently called a garment workhorse for a reason. They have beautiful neutral colors, too. The last cable cardigan is definitely the winner and gorgeous on you! The purple/pink cardigan is really pretty on your complexion. I get the whole concept of moving towards more neutral colors…which is my jam! BUT I have to say that purple/pink Trinigan is STUNNING on you! It’s interesting to see when you try things on, one after another…that one popped out for me. The other piece that stands out is The Big Cozy, sad it doesn’t stay on, but it seems pretty overwhelming (so big and cozy😂) to be wearing it out and about. For the quilted cardigan, you can check out petite knit tutorials for after thought buttonhole.😊
Thanks for this Cardigan review! You cardigans are beautiful even though you are not "in love" with all of them. I too, like cardigans because I live in southern California and need to be able to put hem on or take them off easily. I especially liked hearing about your yarn experiences. Because we don't have yarn shops here, I have to buy yarn online so I feel a little handicapped. I agree with you about indie dyed yarn vs. larger company yarn. I wish the larger yarn companies like Berroco and Cascade would vend at festivals for visibility. They have fantastic affordable yarns. But thankyou for sharing your good experiences with them. Also, I like Modern Wrapper by Churchmouse Yarns. They offer the pattern in lace and fingering weight. I've made 2 of the fingering weight and wear them more than any other of my cardi's. It's oversized and light weight and I haven't had any problems with it slipping off my shoulders. That could be because of the lightweight fabric, not sure. Awesome podcast. I’m currently knitting the bookclub cardigan too. Yours is darling. It’s definitely the pinnacle of your knitting. I’m using Malabrigo rios. However I’m looking at yours and never used Cascade 220 but it looks very plush. Also thanks for sharing angst on using a yarn for a certain pattern. I am loving the bookclub cardi. However trying to determine the optimal yarn is def a challenge.
For your Isabell Kraemer open cardigan: there are several clasps that can be used. I got a magnetic one with a decorative stone to hold my sweater closed. there are also small loop and needle closures much smaller than your stick. Also you could use a snap. Hate to have you not wear that beautiful sweater!!
Love your book club cardigan!! I'm about to complete mine this weekend. So far, my favorite cardigan has been my Seasons Cardigan by Ozetta. I have made 3 of them so far! Definitely recommend it. We also love Breck! Have been 3-4 times now. So beautiful and a great place to visit :)

I sized down my next one. I love them both! I have a navy one made from Knit Picks worsted & a caramel one made out of a discontinued Knitcrate yarn. I'm now making a chocolate brown from Upcycle Alpaca Blend yarn (same yarn I used for my Book club!)

Congratulations on your favorite cardi, love it ! I hear so many good things about 220 I think it come in sport maybe more. I have been knitting 7 yrs or more but very part time. I started with everything but fitted garment. Shawls cowls hats socks was my jam once I learned. I did my first sweater in a cheap yarn out of being insecure and followed Andrea M her go too 6 inches of positive ease. Well way too big for me. I am a bit bust so it was 3 inches on each side and it wore me. Did a cotton summer tee and it worked out better but not perfect. Fitted garments are very difficult to find a good fit but have been looking at cardis next. I am so proud of you to tackle fitted garments 4 yrs in. Thanks for your video! Judy
Hi Judy! Fitted garments or hats are so challenging, even when you gauge swatch. Luckily I like things oversized so I always err on the side of making things big and am rarely disappointed. There is no way to become a better knitter other than to keep challenging yourself, so take on that Cardi!! Hope you have a great week!
Thanks for sharing all the cardigans and critics you gave on them. I too , hate a cardi that falls off my shoulders . for me, It seems to happen when its a more dropped shoulder . If you get into knitting pullovers , try a yoke neck , (if you don't mind knits around the neck area) it has a great look for us broad shoulder gals.
Such beautiful cardigans! I started a Penguono a while ago but got stuck because I didn’t plan the colors well enough and they didn’t look as good as I thought they would. But now I’m inspired to revisit it/change some of the colors because your Penguino looks so pretty. I’m reading The Most Fun We Ever Had, which I think you had recommended (?) and it’s amazing. I’m about 1/2 way through.
Hi Randi! Get back on the Penguono! I think its hard to judge a project mid-knit. Trust your instincts and it will be transformed post-blocking. I did recommend that book, and I’m glad you liked it as much as I did!! It’s such a good one.
Wonderful episode! I've been looking for the perfect cardi pattern to go with a troublesome yarn that I have...it needs a large gauge. I think I'll do what you did with the Book Club cardigan...knit a pattern by adjusting the gauge. I'm listening to The Dutch House. Some nice ones…. The quilted one and a few of them might benefit from redoing the neck band with short row shaping around your neck…. The button idea will atleast keep it closed and from falling, but might not help the actual fit as much… just depends on your preference …. Thanks for sharing ❤
Your Book Club Cardi looks amazing on you!!I must say that your version is more appealing to me than the actual pattern. I know you say you are moving on to pullovers, but I insist that you knit the Like a Cloud cardi by Joji Locatelli. It is a superb fit. It's in the way she designed it at the neck. I have her All the Lights pattern (cables) which is the same construction at the neck. The Garden Cardigan and Summerhill by Ankestrick look like it is made the same way. I bought Summerhill, and May buy the other one still lol. Of course of the 3 I have, only 1 is a finished item lol
you also could put the bigger snaps, I have been using them for sweaters, on the quilt cardigan and then sew a button on the outside of the sweater over the snap. That way you could take it on and off easier.
Hello! You have inspired me to cast on the book club cardigan- I swatched with Cascade 220 as I watched your episode. I’m so happy you are pleased with it now that you have finished it! I’m curious what size needles you used since the small in Cascade 220 turned out to be so oversized. Your Heirloom Quilt Cardigan is beyond beautiful - I think I need to take the plunge with that one too! I’ve knit so many pullovers that I rarely wear so it’s time to concentrate on cardigans that I will wear all the time. Thank you for the inspiration and such a fun and friendly podcast!
Hi there! I believe I used US 6 needles for the body. I am a very loose knitter. I swatched, but had a lot of trouble even figuring out how many stitches that I got! Anyways, I’m not sure that is helpful, sorry! I’m glad you enjoyed the pod! As long as you approach the Heirloom Quilt Cardigan as a big undertaking that isn’t a quick knit, you’ll be able to enjoy the process. It was worth it.
I started the Heirloom Cardigan. It’s so beautiful. I have to have buttons. I cannot keep pulling it closed. For one thing I walk with my grand baby in the stroller and my grand pup on the leash. It would frustrate me to no end if it keeps sliding down. Yours is gorgeous. Love your color choices.
Hi Leena! Beautiful cardi collection!! I used to have the same issue with knitted cardigans: they would slip down my shoulders and never stay put. It might seem like a 'shoulders' issue but I figured out that it actually has to do with the neck shaping. If the cardigan's neck sits on your actual neck, it won't slip off. What I started doing is adding a shawl collar with lots of shorts rows in the neck area whenever I can tell that the neck of the original design lays really low. Check out brooklyn tweed's Balan cardigan on ravelry, it has a similar silhouette as the cardigan with the faux quilt stars, you'll find my cream version with the mod I described and you'll be able to see fit difference much clearer. That’s really great info, and I think you are 100% right. Now that I think about it, both the Stephen West Cardigans that stay on really well had short row shaping on the collar. Which means I could have done that with the Heirloom Quilt Cardigan!! Darn it! Wish I had known that early. FANTASTIC TIP that I’m goign to share with the viewers. Thank you!!
If you would like to knit Ginny again maybe try to do it in slightly looser gauge? It looks like it could use a bit of ease IMO. Maybe Gilliat would be a good match for this pattern? I need to finish 3 garments from stash but then I'll buy it for my oversized bookclub. Thank you for inspiration.
I agree! It would be cute with more ease too. But, I don’t see myself knitting it again…at least not soon. I have so many patterns that I’d love to knit, but not enough time!
With the Isobel Kraemer cardigan, I think the issue is that the collar part is too heavy to stay up on your shoulders. Maybe a light woollen spun yarn would work better for this design or the design isn’t right! Loved all your cardigans and think you are a great knitter!
I have had the same problem with cardigans uni started using my upper bust measurements. Measure just under your arm and use this measurement as your sizing guide. Google using upper breast measurement. I’m sure this will solve your problem.
Leena, thank you so much for this super informative episode! So many podcasters talk about patterns they “want” to knit, but discussing the cardigans you “did” knit was even more helpful. The hopes for the knit, the yarn used, the process, and then how all three of those turned out is invaluable, especially after wearing the product for a while. As someone who is very careful with her knitting budget, your review of the yarns you used was great, especially when you pointed out if it was a good choice for that knit or not. So happy for you that your Bookclub cardigan fit the bill this time for you👍😃 I think that cardigan is tempting me now! Also, the colors in your beautiful Heirloom Cardigan are gorgeous. It's part cashmere, and it's lovely. There are only four colors. So it's easy to choose. The colors are stable, so if you buy some now and some later, the colors will always match. I almost knit the cozy cardi by DRK Knits. My daughter pointed out immediately that it would not work with a coat. Daughters are great to run patterns by her; she's not a knitter, but happily, with her insight, she helps me not waste time and money. 😅 I'd probably wear it. But I do not like fussing with my clothes either. I love your Pegueno cardi. I bought the workshop, too. I need to knit the kid's size as well. The Trinnigan still has my eye. I knit other patterns like the shifty cowl. I use that a lot. Slip stitch patterns. I like Spincycle yarns too. They don't feel like superwash yarns and The changing colors make knitting inspiring and help me to knit longer. I agree that looking at projects to find patterns for my size helps me choose what to make. I'm all for size-inclusive patterns, but it's starting to make me feel bad because I'm thin. It's incredibly frustrating because I think designers need to show larger and smaller models to understand better how they will work for smaller folks. I can't wear itchy yarns. I can't wear Mohair, so I substitute it with surri alpacas. The Lamb and Kids "Big Birdie" is also a fabulous yarn. Myak yarns are exceptional for expensive yarns. I love their cloud yarn It's to die for. I found some Knittingbfir Olive pure silk on eBay. I got seven balls, 50 50-gram balls, or a steal. I'm supposed to be on a yarn-buying diet. Oh well, my hubby said to buy it, so I did. I hear it stretches so I will hold it double with a Merino linen blend. It's going to tone down the poppy pink. I like a soft pink. I'm not a bright pink girl. I enjoy a cooler color palette mostly. The book club cardi by Sari is stunning. I love the cables, and the textures are fabulous. Sorry for so long. And I have to say that you have completely sold me on not only the Book Club cardigan, but also on that cascade 220. I love the price point and because you’re saying it is so great to knit with I am willing to try it. I am usually a yarn snob but when you’re doing these big cardigans, it really gets Unreasonable.

#1: CB is so magical, we love it so much. We don’t go as often because its a bit of a hike from Boulder, but you can’t beat it! Secret Stash and Bonez are my favorite restaurants there!
#2: its better to have neutrals in your wardrobe, and to be able to add pops of colors. I do enjoy color more in shawls, so that’s where I get that out of my system!
#3: the big cozy Cardi is an enormous amount of knitting, and turns out to be pretty but fussy. Generally impractical.
#4: Rip away girl. That is the beauty of knitting vs. sewing. We can repurpose our material!
#5: I would love to be a yarn snob, but these days an affordable non-SW yarn brings me way more joy!!

We lived in Colorado for only 1 year 30 years ago. Oh my gosh… I absolutely loved it. I cried when we had to move back to Florida. We drove through Colorado 2 1/2 years ago on our way moving to California. My son didn’t remember living in CO and he really loved our 1 week there visiting with friends. So… he and his wife both loved it there. It is on the possible list as forever home in 4 years.

How lovely podcast! Love all the honest musings: hits and misses as well! Love the Bookclub cardi, it is absolutely gorgeous and love the colour tone you chose.
Here is a tip for fixing all the pile on that beautiful cardi (number one on your pod) that you feel is "ruined". Take a regular razor, preferrably a new and sharp one. Hold the garment flat and rtght against the table with one hand. With the other shave very carefully over the surface, removing the pile, little area at a time. You will be surprised how great a facelift your garment gets!
Just be careful not to go too close to the knit itself.

Thanks for this interesting episode. I too have those nice but frustrating pieces. On several cardigans that don’t close, I’ve crocheted small loops (just using a simple crochet chain) and sewn on buttons on the opposite side. That works really well when you don’t have buttonholes, in case you are interested. Happy knitting and best wishes for a great fall!

Loved your cardigan parade and what you enjoyed and didn't enjoy about them. I got a tip from a podcaster to crochet a slip stitch or single crochet along the edge of a sweater neckline to tighten it up. It worked for me so maybe it would work on a cardigan. Good job on the Book Club Cardigan!

You have had an interesting knitting journey. My mission this year has also been to find the best cardigan to knit. I did not like the book club cardigan, but I love the way yours turned out. It has a different vibe than the original. I have chosen the cardigan #9 by My Favorite Things knitwear and I am knitting it out of Noro yarn which I have had in my stash for years and am happy to use it rather than get new. I want a jacket like cardigan to wear out and about and saw another TH-camr who had knitted it out of Noro. I would not have thought it would look good in that yarn but it looks great! And it is a blend of cotton, silk and wool so won’t be itchy I think. Thanks for sharing!

Isabel Kraemer has such lovely patterns, but I can tell that they're designed for shapes like her - she has such a slight frame with dainty shoulders and I am the opposite so I've been scared to knit any of her designs. I was watching a quick video on you tube it’s called the snugglery
She resolved her oversized item by sewing some elastic thread around it
I don’t think you need it all around but you might try just pulling some stitches together along the neck part and see how it feels
Try it with just one and see if it works
Gather gently some stitches along the neckline where no one can notice and see if that works
You have done beautiful work and you should enjoy wearing it as well ,

Such a good video! And very informative. I agree with you that the yarn/fiber choice is a huge factor in the success of a knit, and it does take some time and experimentation to get a feel for that. I would recommend you try Elsawool. It is 100% Cormo, comes only in natural shades. It is woolly, light, and completely non-scratchy. I’m so glad your Bookclub cardi was a success! It is so beautiful.
New subscriber here! I'm new to knitting and more comfortable with crochet, so it's great to see your progression. The fiber matters, and Cascade 220 is apparently called a garment workhorse for a reason. They have beautiful neutral colors, too. The last cable cardigan is definitely the winner and gorgeous on you! The purple/pink cardigan is really pretty on your complexion. I get the whole concept of moving towards more neutral colors…which is my jam! BUT I have to say that purple/pink Trinigan is STUNNING on you! It’s interesting to see when you try things on, one after another…that one popped out for me. The other piece that stands out is The Big Cozy, sad it doesn’t stay on, but it seems pretty overwhelming (so big and cozy😂) to be wearing it out and about. For the quilted cardigan, you can check out petite knit tutorials for after thought buttonhole.😊

Thanks for this Cardigan review! You cardigans are beautiful even though you are not "in love" with all of them. I too, like cardigans because I live in southern California and need to be able to put hem on or take them off easily. I especially liked hearing about your yarn experiences. Because we don't have yarn shops here, I have to buy yarn online so I feel a little handicapped. I agree with you about indie dyed yarn vs. larger company yarn. I wish the larger yarn companies like Berroco and Cascade would vend at festivals for visibility. They have fantastic affordable yarns. But thankyou for sharing your good experiences with them.
Also, I like Modern Wrapper by Churchmouse Yarns. They offer the pattern in lace and fingering weight. I've made 2 of the fingering weight and wear them more than any other of my cardi's. It's oversized and light weight and I haven't had any problems with it slipping off my shoulders. That could be because of the lightweight fabric, not sure. Awesome podcast. I’m currently knitting the bookclub cardigan too. Yours is darling. It’s definitely the pinnacle of your knitting. I’m using Malabrigo rios. However I’m looking at yours and never used Cascade 220 but it looks very plush. Also thanks for sharing angst on using a yarn for a certain pattern. I am loving the bookclub cardi. However trying to determine the optimal yarn is def a challenge.
For your Isabell Kraemer open cardigan: there are several clasps that can be used. I got a magnetic one with a decorative stone to hold my sweater closed. there are also small loop and needle closures much smaller than your stick. Also you could use a snap. Hate to have you not wear that beautiful sweater!!

I sized down my next one. I love them both! I have a navy one made from Knit Picks worsted & a caramel one made out of a discontinued Knitcrate yarn. I'm now making a chocolate brown from Upcycle Alpaca Blend yarn (same yarn I used for my Book club!)

Congratulations on your favorite cardi, love it ! I hear so many good things about 220 I think it come in sport maybe more. I have been knitting 7 yrs or more but very part time. I started with everything but fitted garment. Shawls cowls hats socks was my jam once I learned. I did my first sweater in a cheap yarn out of being insecure and followed Andrea M her go too 6 inches of positive ease. Well way too big for me. I am a bit bust so it was 3 inches on each side and it wore me. Did a cotton summer tee and it worked out better but not perfect. Fitted garments are very difficult to find a good fit but have been looking at cardis next. I am so proud of you to tackle fitted garments 4 yrs in. Thanks for your video! Judy
Hi Judy! Fitted garments or hats are so challenging, even when you gauge swatch. Luckily I like things oversized so I always err on the side of making things big and am rarely disappointed. There is no way to become a better knitter other than to keep challenging yourself, so take on that Cardi!! Hope you have a great week!
Thanks for sharing all the cardigans and critics you gave on them. I too , hate a cardi that falls off my shoulders . for me, It seems to happen when its a more dropped shoulder . If you get into knitting pullovers , try a yoke neck , (if you don't mind knits around the neck area) it has a great look for us broad shoulder gals.
I think its the opposite- yoke makes my shoulder look even more oversized and I always need to modify patterns or else it bunch up around neck.
Such beautiful cardigans! I started a Penguono a while ago but got stuck because I didn’t plan the colors well enough and they didn’t look as good as I thought they would. But now I’m inspired to revisit it/change some of the colors because your Penguino looks so pretty. I’m reading The Most Fun We Ever Had, which I think you had recommended (?) and it’s amazing. I’m about 1/2 way through.

Some nice ones…. The quilted one and a few of them might benefit from redoing the neck band with short row shaping around your neck…. The button idea will atleast keep it closed and from falling, but might not help the actual fit as much… just depends on your preference …. Thanks for sharing ❤

Your Book Club Cardi looks amazing on you!!I must say that your version is more appealing to me than the actual pattern.
I know you say you are moving on to pullovers, but I insist that you knit the Like a Cloud cardi by Joji Locatelli. It is a superb fit. It's in the way she designed it at the neck. I have her All the Lights pattern (cables) which is the same construction at the neck. The Garden Cardigan and Summerhill by Ankestrick look like it is made the same way. I bought Summerhill, and May buy the other one still lol. Of course of the 3 I have, only 1 is a finished item lol
you also could put the bigger snaps, I have been using them for sweaters, on the quilt cardigan and then sew a button on the outside of the sweater over the snap. That way you could take it on and off easier.
I need to look into the snaps! Many of you have recommended it but I have never tried it. Thank goodness for TH-cam 🙃

Hi there! I believe I used US 6 needles for the body. I am a very loose knitter. I swatched, but had a lot of trouble even figuring out how many stitches that I got! Anyways, I’m not sure that is helpful, sorry!

I started the Heirloom Cardigan. It’s so beautiful. I have to have buttons. I cannot keep pulling it closed. For one thing I walk with my grand baby in the stroller and my grand pup on the leash. It would frustrate me to no end if it keeps sliding down. Yours is gorgeous. Love your color choices.

Hi Leena! Beautiful cardi collection!! I used to have the same issue with knitted cardigans: they would slip down my shoulders and never stay put. It might seem like a 'shoulders' issue but I figured out that it actually has to do with the neck shaping. If the cardigan's neck sits on your actual neck, it won't slip off. What I started doing is adding a shawl collar with lots of shorts rows in the neck area whenever I can tell that the neck of the original design lays really low. Check out brooklyn tweed's Balan cardigan on ravelry, it has a similar silhouette as the cardigan with the faux quilt stars, you'll find my cream version with the mod I described and you'll be able to see fit difference much clearer. I hope this helps! Looking forward to more stephen west and cabled knits. ❤
That’s really great info, and I think you are 100% right. Now that I think about it, both the Stephen West Cardigans that stay on really well had short row shaping on the collar. With the Isobel Kraemer cardigan, I think the issue is that the collar part is too heavy to stay up on your shoulders. Maybe a light woollen spun yarn would work better for this design or the design isn’t right! Loved all your cardigans and think you are a great knitter!
I have had the same problem with cardigans uni started using my upper bust measurements. Measure just under your arm and use this measurement as your sizing guide. Google using upper breast measurement. I’m sure this will solve your problem.

The Lamb and Kid has an excellent tweedy yarn. It's part cashmere, and it's lovely. There are only four colors. So it's easy to choose. The colors are stable, so if you buy some now and some later, the colors will always match.
I almost knit the cozy cardi by DRK Knits. My daughter pointed out immediately that it would not work with a coat. Daughters are great to run patterns by her; she's not a knitter, but happily, with her insight, she helps me not waste time and money. 😅
I'd probably wear it. But I do not like fussing with my clothes either.
I love your Pegueno cardi. I bought the workshop, too. I need to knit the kid's size as well.
The Trinnigan still has my eye. I knit other patterns like the shifty cowl. I use that a lot. Slip stitch patterns. I like Spincycle yarns too. They don't feel like superwash yarns and
The changing colors make knitting inspiring and help me to knit longer.
I agree that looking at projects to find patterns for my size helps me choose what to make.
I'm all for size-inclusive patterns, but it's starting to make me feel bad because I'm thin. It's incredibly frustrating because I think designers need to show larger and smaller models to understand better how they will work for smaller folks.
I can't wear itchy yarns. I can't wear Mohair, so I substitute it with surri alpacas.

Myak yarns are exceptional for expensive yarns. I love their cloud yarn

I found some Knittingbfir Olive pure silk on eBay. I got seven balls, 50 50-gram balls, or a steal. I'm supposed to be on a yarn-buying diet. Oh well, my hubby said to buy it, so I did. I hear it stretches so I will hold it double with a Merino linen blend. It's going to tone down the poppy pink. I like a soft pink. I'm not a bright pink girl. I enjoy a cooler color palette mostly.
The book club cardi by Sari is stunning. I love the cables, and the textures are fabulous.

I no longer buy cardigan patterns that dont have enough fabric in the front. I constantly am pulling at while walking down the street . And like you , i hate that. Saying all that your garments look fabulous on you
Yes! It’s good to figure out what works and what doesn’t. Knitting time is too precious to end up with a disappointing garment.
I get the whole concept of moving towards more neutral colors…which is my jam! BUT I have to say that purple/pink Trinigan is STUNNING on you! It’s interesting to see when you try things on, one after another…that one popped out for me. The other piece that stands out is The Big Cozy, sad it doesn’t stay on, but it seems pretty overwhelming (so big and cozy😂) to be wearing it out and about. The Big Cozy Cardi is aptly named…definitely a lounging piece, not a functional one.
