Thank you again for the continued support. So many unique landscapes all in the same area and there are so many more places I won't get to on this journey. Will have to come back.
At age 71, I can only enjoy true off roading by way of your camera. I still ride, but on tarmac. Having 5 bikes (all different styles) gives me some flavour in my riding. I'd trade my best bike to go back 50 years and do what you're doing. 42 minutes flew by., with hours of editing I'm sure. 👍👍
I hope I am still able to ride at 71, I am sure you have had many epic rides. Well soon the whole area will have sealed roads, the Indian government have tasked the BRO (Border Road Organisation) to seal all the roads by 2028. So it's could be possible. As always thanks for watching.
I am 70. Just got back in August from these same roads Joe is on in Ladakh, and I'll be 71 in July 2025 when I return to some of the same roads and a few more. It's not so difficult as you might think.
@@freewayproject I will be 71 when I return for my 3rd Ladakh ride in July 2025, and I rode all the roads you've been on, at 70, so no need for such pessimism ! :)
You're continuing to live your/my dream Joe. Totally amazing video footage, thanks so much for allowing us to come along with you. I'm counting down my days until I can start my next adventure. For now, my responsibilities are paramount.
I have seen all these beautiful mountains thorugh so many beautiful motorcyclists..but Joe is not only a traveller he is a photographer and that's matters a lot.. didn't skiped a second.. wonderful..
Joe! You're livin' the dream. Never a dull moment on those roads. Intriguing rock over hangs, and almost collecting Ol Mate pedestrian. It was amazing to see that Old Fella on the side of the road. Well done offering some humanity to him. What a great pic of him at the end of your video. This is life memories for you. It's wonderful Joe!! 👏👏👏
Thanks mate, yes there is near a dull moment always coming across new thing where that be landscapes people or a random tuk tuk. For the old guy to be there I am sure he had it all under control, but always best to check. As always thanks for watching.
Amazing series on the Himalayas. Your NZ series was very thrilling and the Himalayan’s is absolutely a step-up. I really love how you captured the wild, untamed beauty of the local areas in your videos - keep on rocking Joe!
Awesome, I’m laid up recovering from a stroke, can’t wait to get back on two wheels, this is the inspiration I need, ride safe and keep shiney side up mate
That was just awesome Joe, I am lost for words, just amazing stuff ...... thanks heaps sharing this adventure in a part of the world I have not seen and unfortunately at 76 probably probably never will.. but as I have said before its great from an adventurer perspective ..... cheers for now ... .🦘🦘🦘
Thanks mate, it's great to hear you are still enjoying the series. Yes everywhere I got there is another amazing area to explore. As always thanks for watching.
Loved it Joe. Thanks for bridges. A couple of fab ones there! The prayer flag festooned one and the wooden lateral planks bridge. Loving every moment. Cheers Annie 🐧
Amazing series as always and honest review. You took the bike where it is supposed to be riden and you did that beautifully. You showed us what the bike's off/on road capabilities are for an average user. I do believe RE hit the spot with that bike. Again Joe, great job, great mindset...keep up the smile
Thanks mate, it's great to hear you enjoyed the series. Yes I think you're right there RE did hit the spot with this bike. It the right amount of bike for a lot of people, as there are some other that would be like having a F1 car to go to the shops to get some milf. I mean it can do it but seems like an over investment when you're not going to use the full capabilities of it.
That was a massive episode Joe. Thanks so much for sharing another amazing look into such incredible geology and inhabitants of what is often such remoteness.
This is totally bliss and a perfect couch adventure getting to enjoy a 40+ minute Joe Ryan adventure. "Hey lady, you have lovely large mellows.... I mean green ones" 😂

Hello again Joe, what a great video to start my Saturday chilly morning, a few things Joe, oh by the way, nice save on the melons comment 😉, I guess a lot of your accommodations are with out heat or power? You know every time I take one of my big trips two questions were always asked, how far did you trailer your bikes, and what is your destination, me and my riding buddy always get chuckles by theses two primary question, well maybe theres another comment as well, mainly from older people, such as, you know I use to ride, can’t help but laugh. As far as the roads, I guess a smooth tarmac is a welcome sight from time to time but I imagine for the locals it’s a blessing, awesome ride through the canyons. As always buddy great content, stay safe out there, see u next weekend, hang in there. Rob U.S.
It was a long day and you know when you tired and you workout what you said after you said it, yep that was me haha Yes in the higher passes no power or water or heat but they are still great to say at. Yes more awesome canyons to explore, the landscapes always changing always unique. As always thanks for watching, until next week.
I have been following you for a long time and especially loved your NZ trip. Your current India trip is amazing. I rode in that area in 2002 but it has changed so much I am having trouble figuring out where you are. Keep up the brilliant work.
Thanks for the continued support David. Apparently it has changed a lot over the last 20 years. I am going to do a video at the end of the series about what it was like riding in the area for the first time what I learnt etc and I'll also go over the route as it relates to each episode, that might help connect where I was in each episode to the locations on a map. Thanks again for watching.
Another fantastic episode. I admire your endurance. 440 km in such conditions in one day is quite a feat. 👍 During this time, I managed to drink a large cup of coffee. 😉
You said ‘Breathe in,it’s gonna get tight’….and I realized I was already holding my breath 😂 Always feels like we’re riding along with you 😀 Thanks for another entertaining video Joe!
Another spectacular video! Just went and checked out a Himilayan 450 here in California and I was very impressed. I'm seriously thinking about getting one. Although I don't think I'll be making it to the Himillayas, I've got the Sierra Nevada range pretty close!
I am keen to ride there too. I've found the bike great for this type of riding and I'll do a review on the bike, what my experience was like on it at the end of the series. So many places I want to ride in the US.
I didn't expect to see a dinosaur this time, it was a valuable experience♪☺️ I think food is one of the joys of traveling, and I've always wondered what they eat.😋
Joe, if you visit Ladakh again and I hope you do, ride through the Aryan valley in October. The autumn weather renders the entire valley into a hue of brown, yellow and orange and is absolutely lovely.
What a great variety of landscapes....you think that if you seen 1 mountain, you seen them all. Not so, every up and down is different...it would be classic to return the way you come, as the road behind is sometimes more scenic from the other direction. It's interesting that they are so aggressive to pave the roads so far in the mountains...forward looking and quite an expense, I'm sure. I think you will need a half pair of boots and gloves...just the left side from all that clutch and shifting work. Garth
yes going in the different direction the place looks completely different. beside helping out the local get to places quicker the push to upgrade the roads is for the military so they have quick access, as mention in previous episode there are some issue with China over the exact location of the boarder. One thing I can't show is all the military based up here (it is illegal to film or take photos of them and as I do want to return I am following there rules) so the sealed roads means if they ever needed to they can move troops quickly. Thanks as always for watching Garth.
Thanks mate, it's great to hear you are enjoying the series. One of the cool things about traveling alone is that it forces you to interact with more people which is so on the best parts of the journey. Thanks for watching.
I have no idea what he was looking at, but I had slowed down enough to get around him, I was just trying to stay away from the edge of the road on the right haha.
It's always great to hear you enjoyed the episode Larry, we are near the end of this series, it has been an epic place to ride and explore, thanks for the continued support.
Thanks as always mate. the bike has be the perfect bike for these conditions. If there was a deep sand of deep mud I'd definitely what a more aggressive tread on the tyres but the stock one has been good for where I have ridden.
Well fu k me Joe 😂 Just when you think it can’t get any better, you step it up another notch. The diversity from the road construction to the valleys with their mars like terrain is incredible. You are traveling through a land which is alive and full of mystery always moving forward. Wow what an amazing adventure you walk ✨🧚♂️
Oh that wasn't a set up joke haha I was just tired, you know when you say something but only after you said it you realise what you said, I don't think I got away with it haha As always thanks for watching .
brilliant as usual. gold class cinematograpyhy. although these regions are more enjoyable in the drier months. much clearer skies and better and farther line of sight then . Spiti valley is filled with a thousand adventures in itself. lots to explore there too . u can easily spend a month in these regions and still not be done with it
Hi Joe, wow what an absolutely wonderful piece of the world hopefully one day when I get my prosthetic leg I might be able to get back on a two wheeler and I’d love to go over there. Keep up the good work always enjoy day videos , Cliff from Logan City, Queensland, Australia 🇦🇺 I’m on the big island 🏝️
@@freewayproject I have been in the same area under similar conditions on atour up to Turtuk. Wonderful place. Yes I agree with you that the new asphalt roads kill some of the romantic of this lunar landscape. Big fan of Joe Ryan.
I didn't know where to break this episode in 2 so I just left it as it. It's an amazing place to ride if you ever get the chance. As always thanks for watching.
Hey Joe, really enjoy your videos. Indian shortcut didn't quite work out last episode 😊. Wished I'd got in touch when you were in NZ. But anyway keep putting out your awesome videos 👍. Cheers, wannabe adventure rider.,🙂
Thanks for another great video Joe - just spectacular scenery every upload. Nice job avoiding that pedestrian who veered in front of you! Curious about what you ride when not exploring the world on the Himi? You don't take me as a sports bike rider clad in full leathers.
Thanks mate, it's great to hear you are enjoying the series. Yes not sure what the guy was looking back at, but when you turn your head while still moving you move in that direction. luckily I still had a lot more breaking left so if he got right out in front I would have been able to get close to a stop if needed. I have the old Himalayan 411 which I road around Australia, I also have a KTM 250 EXC enduro motorbike, both second hand but both a lot of fun for different types of riding.
At the end of the series I am going to do a video on what it was like riding in this area of the Himalayas for the first time, what I learnt and other information that might help people woh are thinking about riding in this area.
Joe if you can spiti, do it, you won't regret it i swear.it's beauty is extraordinary like the ones you have been seeing till now. also you should try to go siachen base camp.
we will see if Spiti Valley is open, but as I understand they don't let foreigners especially solo to Siachen at the present time. Maybe in the future that will change and I can come back and see it then. Thanks for watching.
Thanks mate, it's great to hear you enjoyed the episode. No I was a few valleys over to the east of Gumbo Ranjan mountain. There are so many places I did not get to explore on this journey which just means I'll have to come back another time to explore more. Thanks for watching.
Hi Joe superb breakfast ride with you on my tv😂....yu may have seen " "one more adv" polish couple hana &Jack riding the shimsal valley in Pakistan wow what a ride.....I'm spoilt for epic scenery .....I'm dreading your trip ending atb🙂👍
Hey, Joe. I noticed that you always film from the same angle when you ar on the bike. Have you ever tried to play around a little? Do you turn you camara on and off a lot, so it needs to be somewhere easily accessible? Or has it just turned out to be all you need 😅. I mean we all enjoyed the series the way it is. With all that tarmak preparation you truely went there just in time. It feels like the journey is slowly coming to an end. Enjoy the last parts of it. Cheers from Schwarzwald (The other side of it though 😉)
I have tried a few time from other angles but I am showing the ride from my point of view so it's manly that angle when on the motorbike. Yes I turn the camera on and off, it take a lot of time to go through toe footage as it, if I recorded everything it would take me months to edit one video instead of a week. It does feel like I got to the part as it is winding down metaphorically speaking, I am glad I did it now and not in a few years time.
Joe the videos are superb. But noticed something today therefore commenting, The music is too loud sometimes, its better to hear the natural engine sound/noise with low volume tunes.
90% of the time it's wind noise from the mics not the bike which after about 30second is like listening to someone drag there fingernails down a chalkboard. The Audio setting are sent to work best at 50% of full volume of a TV. The main thing though is editing on the road I don't have a sound studio and perfect quite environment to edit in, so most of the time I can not hear the audio without outside noise pollution, so there will be errors sometime. But it's free to watch so whats that saying, you get what you pay for. I hope it kind of okay to watch even with the volume issue
lovely episode thanks Joe !! Fantastic scenery and roads . Was that Sarchu where you stayed in the Hut ? If so it has changed a lot , used to be a few tents . Cold at night even with a Yak duvet I seem to remember , I think it is 4500m so hard place to sleep . living the dream Joe .
Thanks for a fantastic view into the breathtaking Himalayas with this series of videos. Technical question: Are the videos sped up to keep things moving since the speeds showing on the speedo look lower than it feels in the videos? If they are not sped up then you must be a very brave guy on those road tyres through the water crossings and "Indian shortcuts"... Related question, would you now rather have fitted more aggressive tyres for the whole trip?
Hi Jasper, it's great to hear you enjoyed the series. The footage is not sped up, because it is a wide angle camera (action camera) when you go past things that are close it does look fast. Yes if I had the option to put more aggressive tyre on I would have, the bike was find to ride with out them just a change of tyres would change how I would have ridden it. I ride well with in my ability as I am riding alone so I need to be very cautious, if I had knobbly tyres on the bike it would mean I could push the bike a lot more. But this channel isn't about how hard or fast I can ride, I leave that for when I am on my enduro/dirt bike. I hope you enjoy the series.
@@freewayproject Thanks Joe. I like your perspective that perhaps the road tyres made for a safer trip and that riding is not always about going fast or hard, fun though that can be at times. Isn't it curious how the enjoyment of a ride, whether a short hop to the coffee shop or an epic overland adventure, is more about one's inner state, how quiet, open and accepting one is than the performance of the bike or what one is passing through. That came through strongly in your videos. The most satisfying rides for me are when there is harmony between myself, the bike and the surroundings. Everything is flowing. Those moments on the high passes where you just stopped, were at a loss for words with the feeling of indescribable beauty. Just glowing at us.
Awesome content as usual Joe. Shame about all the tarmac about to be put down, but as you mentioned it will benefit others. Question about your helmet and goggles setup vs an adv style of helmet with shield, have you used both and is your preference to use the goggles setup?
Thanks mate, always great to hear you enjoyed it. Yes I have used both about 70,000km with adv style helmet with shield and 10,000km with goggles. I always had issue with the shield fogging up, not sure if it was due to having a camera mounted on the chin of the helmet stopping airflow (I don't think it was) but had a lot of issue seeing early in the morning which I ride often due to fogging up. With the goggles I have never had an issue with fogging up. Note if it hails (which is rare but happened in the Himalayas a couple times, the pieces can hit you on the nose and checks. I have to get another set of goggles as my dirt bike goggles nose piece didn't quite fit with the helmet I have so I took it off but got sunburnt (if I kept it in would have protected from the hail as well). So once I swap goggles with new ones that have a nose piece that fits the helmet all should be good. So it depends when you ride I guess, if early and if fogging up is an issue for you.
joe i think u might have missed a few other interesting places in the batalik sector up north. some mild trek vistas as well. it just needs more time to visit these areas widely.
Hey Joe,love your videos, amazingcinematography. Was wondering if you had some map record of all the routes you took, planning to make the trip next year.
I did not record any of the route as a gps files but I am going to do a video on what it was like riding there for the first time, what I learnt and other information that might help people who are thinking of riding there
Thanks mate, it's great to hear you are enjoying the series. No flats on this journey, I got one on the New Zealand one and also on the Australia one. Yes i carry front and back tubes, a repair kit, tyre leavers and pump. I also have other tools and spares.

Jaw dropping!
Yes that is the best way to describe it. Thanks as always for watching. Just a couple left.
@@freewayproject Don't stop
I didn't expect to see a dinosaur this time, it was a valuable experience♪☺️
I think food is one of the joys of traveling, and I've always wondered what they eat.😋
Yes those formation are insane. As always thanks for watching.
Thanks again for a good video n pictures
you are welcome mate, great to hear you enjoyed it.
Joe, if you visit Ladakh again and I hope you do, ride through the Aryan valley in October. The autumn weather renders the entire valley into a hue of brown, yellow and orange and is absolutely lovely.
That would be awesome to ride at that time of year but the sounds of it.
Loving this series Joe. Appreciated the interaction with the omelette lady 🙂
Thanks mate, it's great to hear you are enjoying the series. One of the cool things about traveling alone is that it forces you to interact with more people which is so on the best parts of the journey. Thanks for watching.
You are literally making my heart ache for the Himalayas
I was due to travel there earlier in the year but had to cancel ☹️
I hope you get another chance to go, it is an amazing place to ride and explore.
I look forward to every one of these episodes. 😁 Close call with that local, he wasn't aware of you at all!
I have no idea what he was looking at, but I had slowed down enough to get around him, I was just trying to stay away from the edge of the road on the right haha.
Thanks for so brilliantly sharing this rider's paradise Joe. 🙏
Thanks mate, it's great to hear you enjoyed the episode.
Paused at 20 second mark and already this looks epic ✌️💪
I hope you enjoy it.
Another great adventure mate , will get you more gas's next month👌👍
It's always great to hear you enjoyed the episode Larry, we are near the end of this series, it has been an epic place to ride and explore, thanks for the continued support.
Just bought a Ducati Scrambler in Thailand. I’m highly contemplating just hitting the road, and doing exactly as you are mate. Love these videos
I can only say do it. So much will happen along the way and Thailand would be an awesome place to explore.
Glorious Joe. Ride on.
Thanks mate, it's great to hear you enjoyed the episode.
WoW Joe. Another 'once in a lifetime' epic ride. Looks like the right bike & tire combo. Keep em coming. Thanks...
Yes every corner you go around seems to have a different landscape, as always thanks for watching
This bike is a beast and your journey is epic! Keep it up friend!
Thanks mate, it's great to hear you are enjoying the series. The bike is certainly doing a great job. Thanks for watching
There be Giants. And Joe rides amongst them.
They were definitely giants, still blows me away how big everything is. As always thanks for watching Ralf.
I love that melon joke!:D
Regarding rock doctor, we all know one busy doctor, itchy boots.:p
Oh that wasn't a set up joke haha I was just tired, you know when you say something but only after you said it you realise what you said, I don't think I got away with it haha
As always thanks for watching .
brilliant as usual. gold class cinematograpyhy. although these regions are more enjoyable in the drier months. much clearer skies and better and farther line of sight then . Spiti valley is filled with a thousand adventures in itself. lots to explore there too . u can easily spend a month in these regions and still not be done with it
It is an incredible region, yes I have not even scratched the surface, which means I'll be back to explore more, thanks for watching.
Thanks as always Cliff, I hope you get the opportunity in the further it is truely unique and a special place to explore.
Great episode.
Thanks mate, it’s great to hear you enjoyed it
@@freewayproject I have been in the same area under similar conditions on atour up to Turtuk. Wonderful place. Yes I agree with you that the new asphalt roads kill some of the romantic of this lunar landscape. Big fan of Joe Ryan.
Good one Joe. 42 min of some amazing - but cool- scenery 😂😎👍
I didn't know where to break this episode in 2 so I just left it as it. It's an amazing place to ride if you ever get the chance. As always thanks for watching.
Absolutely stunning again! top marks!!

Terrifically incredible. 👍
Thanks mate.
Hey Joe, really enjoy your videos. Indian shortcut didn't quite work out last episode 😊. Wished I'd got in touch when you were in NZ. But anyway keep putting out your awesome videos 👍. Cheers, wannabe adventure rider.,🙂
Eventual i found my way through the short cut which is all part of the fun. Thanks for watching, there are still a couple episodes left.
Great adventure.
Thanks mate, it's great to hear you enjoyed the episode. Thanks for watching.
Amazing as usual
Thanks mate, it's always great to hear you enjoyed the episode. Thanks for watching .
Amazing India. ❤
yes India is an amazing place.
Would you be able to make a video entailing all of the issues one would experience on such an awesome expedition?
At the end of the series I am going to do a video on what it was like riding in this area of the Himalayas for the first time, what I learnt and other information that might help people woh are thinking about riding in this area.
Phenomenal
It is an amazing place to ride and explore, it seems around every corner there is a unique landscapes. Thanks for watching
@freewayproject Thanks for making the journey there, filming it, narrating it, editing it, producing it, and releasing it 👍
Joe if you can spiti, do it, you won't regret it i swear.it's beauty is extraordinary like the ones you have been seeing till now. also you should try to go siachen base camp.
He would need a PR for that 😂 no temporary visa only pr for so many places
we will see if Spiti Valley is open, but as I understand they don't let foreigners especially solo to Siachen at the present time. Maybe in the future that will change and I can come back and see it then. Thanks for watching.
Hi Joe, another great video, let me ask if you visited Gumbo Ranjan mountain in Zanskar Valley, I didnt saw it in the last video, thanks
Thanks mate, it's great to hear you enjoyed the episode. No I was a few valleys over to the east of Gumbo Ranjan mountain. There are so many places I did not get to explore on this journey which just means I'll have to come back another time to explore more.
Thanks for watching.
@freewayproject totally true, looking forward for the Spit videos...I visited Spit in 2017 and is a magical place
Really…… is it real or VFX ? Does this type of incredible place/ landscape exists Joe?
It doesn’t seem real, but I did see it with my own eyes. It is an amazing place to ride and explore. Thanks for watching
It's always great to hear you enjoyed the episode, so many places still to explore, as always thanks for watching.
That Tuk Tuk can't believe my eyes
Damn good effort to get it up there and he wasn't hanging around was moving along quite fast.
now I know which is going to be my next motorbike
For this type or riding it is great, I will do a review of the bike at the end of the series and my experience riding it. Thanks for watching
Totally understandable
Joe the videos are superb. But noticed something today therefore commenting, The music is too loud sometimes, its better to hear the natural engine sound/noise with low volume tunes.
Like you handle the voice overs. Those are perfect
@@freewayproject Alright, keep it up mate!
😭😭😭 a movie finall from joe,
Btw it's a request please, if possible ever please visit North East India ak The Seven Sisters.
Hopefully I get the opportunity in the future to explore there too, Have heard it is amazing.
lovely episode thanks Joe !! Fantastic scenery and roads . Was that Sarchu where you stayed in the Hut ? If so it has changed a lot , used to be a few tents . Cold at night even with a Yak duvet I seem to remember , I think it is 4500m so hard place to sleep . living the dream Joe .
Thanks mate, yes it was Sarchu. I must have acclimatised has I am sleeping well at these heights. Thanks for watching.
@@jasperhorrell7998 It definitely sounds like you tap into the same joy as I do when riding and exploring.
This is helpful, appreciate it
joe i think u might have missed a few other interesting places in the batalik sector up north. some mild trek vistas as well. it just needs more time to visit these areas widely.
Yes I have missed so many, it just means I’ll have to come back and ride here again and again and again. Thanks for watching
Hey Joe,love your videos, amazingcinematography. Was wondering if you had some map record of all the routes you took, planning to make the trip next year.
I did not record any of the route as a gps files but I am going to do a video on what it was like riding there for the first time, what I learnt and other information that might help people who are thinking of riding there
@freewayproject Looking forward to it !!

Hello from marreba nth qld, absolutely loving the series mate. Have you had any flats yet and do you carry repair kits?
Thanks mate, it's great to hear you are enjoying the series. No flats on this journey, I got one on the New Zealand one and also on the Australia one. Yes i carry front and back tubes, a repair kit, tyre leavers and pump. I also have other tools and spares.

It is a Belstaff, I have had it for 15 years, it does not have anything else written on the tag. It is waxed cotton.
