I keep checking in for more episodes -- I guess you're all busy, but this channel is like oxygen to me and very much appreciated.

Happy 50th to Dr. Tony. You’re an invaluable resource and I for one am extremely grateful to have access to your research and interpretations of autism. You are a gift and your willingness to share your knowledge changed my life and allow me to understand myself, behaviors and reactions. I am kinder to myself now that I know why I behave as I do. You also give excellent constructive feedback to situations that arise and these tools have helped me through a very difficult year. These sessions are treasures full of practical advice that is incredibly useful on a daily basis. Thank you.

Talking about the ability to sense emotions ... As an autistic person, I find that I'm really good at sensing people's emotions by watching their hands and cheeks. To the point that I once correctly deduced that the person talking in front of me was quite unwell, simply by focusing on these two. I hardly ever look into people's eyes, because I find them too intense --but they're not telling me anything (the whole "eyes are windows to the soul" are romanticised TBH). I also notice people's relationship and interaction quite well to the point that I can go to a wedding and correctly predict how long a couple is going to last, whether it was an arranged marriage or not

I don't have autism, but I have ADHD , and I have extreme Empathetic attunement as well as the typical ways to perceive people's emotions. It's SO DRAINING. I can pick up on what the cashier at the shop is feeling. I can pick up on feelings people are actively trying to conceal. It can often feel like I'm doing something unethical when I walk into a room and instantly intuit that two people just had a disagreement, but they didn't want anyone to know. I keep being proved right, later on when the truth comes to light. My friends are fascinated and call me "psychic". But I would rather be without because it makes me avoid do many social gatherings.

Is it possible for a person who is autistic to not have typical meltdowns, but instead the stress triggers an epileptic seizure, or a form of self sabotage like breaking a bone? Thereby forcing them to "take a break" when overwhelmed?

I considered math teaching. But I got overwhelmed by people telling me being a teacher was very difficult and I gave up the idea. I still have no career.

Why don't neurotypicals have to explain themselves ?

Nevertheless in our cultural, religious and political societies there is this concept of the "rights of minorities" as well as "cultural diversity".

they don't, but they should! Not doing so is why they misunderstand - then judge and have conflict with others! The world would be a more unified and peaceful place if ALL people explained themselves more!
