Hello. I'm trying to start this as a hobby. I have my great grandmother's 10" skillet. One of the first things she bought when she came to America. Could you tell me what kind of power source you are using. Hope all is well with you and thank you.
@@willpatterson4866 in a video he uses a DC power supply. Do a deep dive on his videos there was a link to one he bought on Amazon. They do a great job. I can't tell you how happy that you did this video. I can't find a old manual battery charger in North Louisiana either and had to invent another power supply. Being a country boy, I "borrowed" deep cycle battery from my 1986 Ford tractor and used 12 gauage jumper cables to connect battery to cookware. Now that I know where to purchase an alternative electrical power supply and won't have to worry about recharging battery or unknown amperage. I’ve been preaching about these power Supplys for over a year. Glad the Other Stephen made this video to help you. No chargers in South Louisiana either.
Let me clarify how I recharged my tractor battery. I would disconnect the jumper cables from battery and my skillet before I hooked it to automatic charger. When charged, I would reconnect jumper cables to both battery and skillet after disconnecting battery from charger. I agree with Mr. Larry Stephens, I did not use battery while it was hooked to charger for the reason he stated. The risk IS NOT worth it. The point of my previous comment was that I used a battery to supply power to a tank because I couldn't find a manual battery charger. And I didn't know another electrical power supply that I could find and use. That is why I was so happy that Steven did this video; he showed me a product that would supply continuous and known amperage. Again, I thank him for doing this video and look forward to seeing other videos in the future.
I metal detect as another hobby and "electrolosize", as I say, a lot of items using a manual battery charger and they eventually died. Even small items can take a very long time depending on how bad the rust is. I made mine from a plastic tote, rebar or a brake rotor and a hanger to run the charge to the rusted piece. Worked like a charm. When I was reading about building a tank there were several articles that said not to use stainless steel. As far as the compound you need to use Arm and Hammer washing soda (sodium carbonate) and not baking soda (sodium bi-carbonate). Happy hunting....
I can say one thing you must have convinced a lot of people on your TH-cam channel to buy one of these power supplies and leads. Both of the ones that you have listed are not available they are sold out. I'm glad you said something about the fan. When you first started the box it sounded pretty loud and normally that's an indication of something not me very well. But after the test you put that box through proves that it's a pretty good built supplier. I've never have tried this out yet but come this fall I'm going to have a project going on in the garage. I'm finally going to pull the motor out of my pickup truck and over the winter rebuild it and have it ready for the spring. I'm not crazy about using battery chargers like others have. I like the idea of what you stated at the beginning of this video. You want to be able to control the amperage and voltage going to your parts. I rarely enjoyed your video and I definitely made sure to hit the like and subscribe button. I figured that's the least I can do for someone sharing some good information.
Nice work, I was told by another guy to remove the grease first before electrolysis, something to check, I have a marine engine I'm doing right now, 6 amp charger, worked great on the exhaust manifold, doing the head now.
Im using a Nevada 8A CB/HAM PSU. At first the tank drew too much current and the ameter end stopped! I've now put a big load resistor in parallel and it's holding nicely at just under 3A. PSU not getting hot. I've sat an additional fan on top the PSU as a precaution. All is good so far and tank looks like it's removing a lot of crud! 😉
Thanks for showing this! I have been looking for a non-automatic battery charger and had no luck. A DC power supply seems like the answer. Also I've read about using stainless steel for the sacrificial anode in electrolyis and warnings about creating highly toxic by-products. They said that if your electrolyte is turning yellow, it is a sign that you are producing hexavalent chromium which is very toxic and carcinogenic. But then another source said it is doubtful that will happen at low voltage. An issue worth researching.
So far I have not had any issues. I have purchased some Hexavalent Chromium test strips from amazon and not had any contamination results. Still testing often though.
I was reading a post on a group site and someone said how good your videos were. I’m a newbie and have been bitten by a big cast iron bug. I am so eager to learn all things about cast iron. Funny thing is I’m trying to make a e-tank and had the problem of finding a battery charger. Someone on the site suggest Schumacher SM 1437 from Blains. I researched it and they have the best price. It’s a manual 6/25/125 amp and also has a timer on it for a couple of hours. I’m guessing this will be ok. I know nothing about doing this. I’ll look for a video on building a tank and see if I can find out what amperage I need to use. I’m so glad I found your videos. Thanks for putting them out there and teaching us what you have learned. I needed to find someone who had information and didn’t mind sharing it. I enjoyed the video on DC power. Thank you.
Ah yes, such a blessing. Here are some more WONDERFUL nuggets of wisdom from your supposed creator of the universe: "For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me." (Matthew 10:35-27) So much for the whole family values thing, eh, and the mutual support of your kin?
What Jesus said and you quoted here is true though. When God shows you the Truth and you receive it, naturally you would be separated spiritually from who doesn't believe in Jesus (this is the work of Holy Spirit), and it can happen within family members as you specifically pointed out in this comment. However, perhaps think of this from this angle: you want to follow the faith that will cost you something, if not, it is just another "staff" you believe/possess for a while and throw it away when it doesn't fit to your circumstance. In other word, game it, not just watch it. Jesus said in John 16:33 "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.". As a believer and a follower, we know there will be troubles due to our faith in Christ, and often time we need to confront with it by speaking truth in love. May God open your eyes of understanding, my friend. You'd be blessed hundred folds more if you know who He truly is and accept Him as your Savior. God bless!
I have been using several different DC power supplies from different makers, both regulated and variable. You can find them on eBay fairly cheap. Astron makes nice ones.
Great video, I just ordered what claims to be a manual charger off Ebay. I wish I would have watched this first. Love the channel thanks for helping all of us newbies. God bless
Thanks for the shoutout. I now have two going due to the volume of iron I’m doing. I hope this helps others get into Etanking but could not find a charger. Great video.
I have been speculating for a while that this would work, and you have proven it. I am fortunate to have 3 big upright 2/10/40/200 amp manual battery chargers, one still new in the box! Your stainless tank appears to be very conductive to support that percentage of current as compared to the output setting on the power supply. My stainless plates are not as conductive, but they still work. Just a little slower. I only register 2 or 3 amps on the meter when I set the charger to 10 amps. As for the #14 pan and its sad condition, it should still work well for pizza! I don't know that I have ever seen a Red Mountain #14. I only see Century #14s.
Thanks you for sharing. I too have tried to find a manual battery charger and can't find one. I don't know why I never thought of a power supply. Ham Radio operators use power supplies to power their radios. I've seen power supplies up to 50A. With the price of lye I'm going to start looking for a power supply and build a E-tank. Thanks again
Tractor supply is now selling a manual charger. Apparently Manuel's are needed on some farm aquiptment. I have also run across them at pawn shops, thrift stores and flea markets.
Good video. Use Dow Corning DC4 Silicon Grease Electrical Compound to deliver a moisture proof seal for cable connectors, battery terminals, and such. When the croc clips are in contact with the solution then no reaction takes place, so all the current is forced to pass through the job only, thus making it much more efficient.
What you need is a current source. I use my tig welder on DC + crank it to 75 amps and do in 4 hours ( outdoors ) what takes a full day otherwise. it comes with fat cables too. I found a great dutch oven Giswold large badge bottom it did not come with the right lid. I would love to get my hands on the proper lid with badge and labeled tite fit lid. seen any? Going to try your eezybeeze soon. love your videos.
I have been looking for this alternative for a few years now. Thanks for the information. You may try a large plastic garbage can for your tank. Many thanks
Great video Sir. I'm a retired Marine in search of new hobbies and restoring old cast iron cookware is high on my list. I made an electrolysis tank out of a tote to see if it would work but sourcing and installing multiple anodes became a frustration. The idea of using a stainless steel kettle is intriguing as it would enable 360 degree coverage of the artifact and eliminate multiple wires/connection (failure) points. This seems effective and efficient in terms of achieving good rust removing results. My only hesitation is that many people suggest that a stainless steel tank will increase the chance of producing toxic fumes which is an obvious concern. Having said that you seem healthy and unaffected using your method. Please advise if you're still using this method or if you have switched to something else. God bless and Semper Fi, Ken
You can use your adjustable DC power supply as a battery charger too, first turn down the current all the way and go up to about 10% current, then set the voltage to the maximum charge voltage (~14.1V for starter battery, 4.2V for a 1S lipo cell, etc), then hook it to the battery, see the voltage indeed drops, then turn up the current to whatever you want (constant current mode), it will eventually land on the voltage you set and stop the current when it reaches the voltage you set because it would be in constant voltage mode. Do not touch the voltage knobs after you initially set it!!! This is why battery chargers exist, because people "accidentally" or really stupidly bump or touch the voltage knobs after setting the end voltage, to prevent stupid they make battery chargers so you cannot accidentally change the end voltage.
I was using an inverter welding machine, but recently got an analogue 24V 15A dc unit from china. It melted the cables almost instantly so i will try to get bigger cables like you have suggested. Thanks
How about the converters found in any old desktop computers? They have multiple dc output leads, primarily +12vdc, with a few different amperage ratings. There are also +5vdc and, depending on the brand/era, a few -5vdc outputs. I have been planning on doing some tools as a test
Will definitely work - and they push out quite a hefty current at 5V - and it's the current that does the work; there's only a small PD across the piece you're working on anyway. I built my supply for nothing from scrap lying around in the workshop - it uses an old PC PSU fan for cooling, but it is analogue PSU, not switch mode like a PC PSU. Mine gives about 12 Amps continuous and left on working for a while actually heats up the 25 gallon tank of washing soda solution ! Fitted an MCB off an old mains distribution board to stop problems if the terminals went together by mistake.
Word of advice about those DC bench power supply if you are buying them from eBay or Amazon most likely they are made in China and are really cheaply made and my have a risk of caching on Fire because of bad wiring connections inside the Unit I use them for Repair an electronics testing circuits But I would never leave one running without being home or near by if you know what to look for you can take it apart and check the Components To make sure there's no bad connections just a heads up
Hello. I have a question is this something that I could use. It is analog but has safty features. I so have to say that you have made me hobby driven. I'm starting small have my tank almost built. Still watching videos to see if I can improve or not but this is 2/10/50 Amp charger. CEN-TECH 2/10/50 Amp, 12V Analog Charger with Engine Start From harbor freight. It's $40 new. Anyways thanks for the videos sir.
High-Power SMPS 110V/220V AC to 12V DC Converter - 50A 600W Power Supply - Adjustable Switch Transformer for LED Strip, LCD Monitor CCTV, Radio/Car Stereos, 3D Printer - includes 2 Clamp Wires
Of course you can. To limit current from the 12V supply, I insert a 21W, 12V car light bulb in series. Any shorts between the job and the anode are thus rendered harmless. Also, the action works better at lower current; it is current DENSITY that speeds the job up.
Great video thanks. I thought I had read somewhere stainless steel is not good to use because of some sort of toxic chemical it produces in the water? Also can this DC power supply not produce 12 volts?
Hi, basically I'm using 12v 2amp dc power supply plug in to 220v. I think this was old power supply of network cables router. What is the different / benefit using this device?
Love learning something new. I have a manual battery charger I keep hidden in the garage. Have you done a video about cleaning nickle plated caste iron? I didn't see one in your playlist.
Thank you for the useful Cast Iron information, your great channel, and all of the effort you put into it. I appreciate it. Aside from skillets, I also like to restore my waffle irons, muffin pans, etc., which for now I scrub with short nylon bristled brushes after back and forth lye-baths and Evaporust-baths as needed, a system that is not only slow but is both tedious and laborious (just like this sentence). Anyway, E-tanks seem like the way to go. And you do make it look so easy!! However, I've always been a bit leery (scared to death) of using an e-tank myself on account of my complete and utter lack of electrical knowledge. You have it all detailed here pretty clearly with these components, and have described the fundamentals in prior videos and thus have armed me with some confidence. However, I still have a few (maybe dumb) questions. Can it damage or dissolve the cast iron in any way, like maybe by leaving it on for too long, or at too many amps? Can it adversely affect nickel or chrome plating, it seems as if it would, although I do see some commenters here saying that it does not. The main fear though (beside immediate death by electrocution) is : Can I damage the cast iron item in any way? Thanks!!!
The only risk of damage that I know of is if you allow the cast iron to touch the sacrificial anodes, causing an ark and possibly burn a spot on the cast iron. I have never had that to happen neither have I heard it happening.
I bought something similar, and I'm getting about 0.10 to 0.20 amps at 19 volts. Using a carbon rod in a big plastic tote with sodium carbonate. So far this seems mostly useless, with not much in the way of bubbles. I had more luck with a repurposed USB wall charger, even! How to get enough amps that this is useful? Thanks.
I have let them run for several days at a time without any problems. The water may get warn and I usually turn it off before it gets hot and let it cool to avoid too much evaporation.
I just bought a similar DC power unit but I can't get the amps much over 3. Does the gauge wire effect what amperage you can pull? I just used the wire/clips that came w the unit.
Maximum amps are mostly depended on the size of your part, your anode and the conductivity of your electrolyte (the liquid). I had the mistake of not properly mixing soda into water, and amps whent up after I did that. Then I added another anode and got more amps again.
So what I find odd is why only 6 volts with 9.97 amps? That supply is usually CC or CV in operation which is Constant Current or Constant Voltage I wonder what would have happened if you started with the voltage wide open with the current low and once you saw the CV light on start raising the current to see if you can get it at 30 volts @ 9.97 Amps and see if it affects the electrolysis action any differently. Also what do you use as your electrolyte, Baking soda, or Washing soda or 50/50 vinegar & water with Salt mixture. The Stainless steel pot is Genius, good video.
Hi David, just set up my first “tank”. Bought a DC power supply, variable up to ten amps. Got my first piece in, cranked it up to ten and it started processing immediately. So much activity I got a little worried and turned it down a few notches lol. Question, how high do you think I can set the amperage without damaging a piece of cast iron cookware? I’m using the A&H wash as you suggested at ~1 cup per 5 gal water. Many thanks in advance (maybe…you’ve given me a new obsession with your videos, they are outstanding!)
And the whole thing is as small as a big CDI Box Smaller than that bulky thing you've got you may not be able to control the amount of amps that it pushes but but you can control whatever voltage you want to put through it
I hook up my 10 amp smart charger to a bad 12 v car bat, it will hold about 8 to 11 amps. enough to make the smart charger put out 8 to 11 v, enough for electrolysis..
SUPERNIGHT 12V 30A DC Power Supply Driver,360W Universal Regulat... $21.95 at Amazon, recommended on a cast iron group. I dont known if it can work ok. Its a 30 amp unit
I'm looking at a Tripp-Lite PR-15 DC power supply. It is regulated at 13.8v and 15 amps. I think it should draw about 12 amps continuously. Does it matter if the power supply is regulated vs Variable like the one you have here? Thanks!
And you can get ADC 9 to 60 V 20 amp DC motor power supply can motor control power supply my bad but that is something that runs at 20 amps at 20 apps sir
You won’t find a power source producing much more than 10 amps if it is wired for 120 V because most 120 V outlets have 15 amp fuses/breakers; some may have 20 amp, but that is the max. If you want more amps, you will have to go to a device using a 240 V outlet. The max amp draw from a “home” single phase 240 V outlet is 50 amps. Also, 50 amps from a 240 V outlet is equivalent to 100 amps from a 120 V outlet-this take home message is don’t mess around with electricity if you don’t know what you’re doing. You will literally melt your wires. And from there, things get very bad very quickly.
Isn't the harbor freight cen-tech battery charger manual I know harbor freight but you are not using the thing professionally in an automotive shop just every now and then to strip some cast iron
I just picked up a manual charger at Walmart. But it was 110 bucks. 200 Amp charger. You can use it at 6 amp 40 amp and 200 amp. I just built my e tank tonight. With this charger what setting do you recommend? Would 40 amp be safe?
I've been doing quite a bit of research on that. What I've learned is that I small home system does not produce enough power for that reaction to take place. Still learning though and researching as I go.
Stainless probably isn't a good choice for the positive electrode. Hexavalent chromium will be formed in the solution as the chromium leaches out of the stainless. This is some nasty stuff,.
I have been testing for hexavalent chromium but have not shown any positive results on the test as of yet. It may be because I am not generating enough power. Of course that is a good thing.
@@castIroncookwarehow do you test for it? I too have a few small stainless tanks which I'd like to utilize foe the same purpose but it feels like I'm breaking the golden safety rule.
When my kids were small, I let them play with chalk. My entire carport and shop walls were covered with all kinds of pictures. The only ones that remain are in my shop. My kids are grown now and its a good reminder of their childhood.
Please do not go on the Electrolysis Tank Builder site and ask about using a DC power source. My question was deleted and I could possibly removed from the site. Manuel 12 volt battery charges only.
Why? Seems counterproductive for a group for those looking to build an E-Tank. Manual battery chargers are almost impossible to find. Can't understand why that group would make that rule.
Wrong. Automatic battery chargers can be used. I connect a car battery to the electrolysis system and connect the automatic battery charger to the battery posts. I’ve been doing this for a couple of years now. The best part is the free replacement warranty on WallyWorld Max series. Three years full replacements warranty!
a few people are bringing this up in the comments, but please be aware that using stainless steel in this application is can be incredibly dangerous please don't recommend it as a "great option"

Well Sir, I sure do Have a Better Source for Power Supply Than That Overpriced Labratory Box of Bees. It's a Welding Machine! See During Electrolysis Your Voltage Really is off the chart if you measure in voltage, But it is Amperage what really gets the Marblings Sizzling. Amazon Has Welding machines that are capable of 150-200 Amps at the Maximum for 50-60$. I'd say since your old 12volt battery charger was a 40 amp you will be able to match that but it would read 1-40amps at 100% duty cycle and the remaining amps you would have to take breaks, but at 40 amps any welder will be able to do that since most rods run 50amps and up, but I do reccomend an amp meter if the unit does not have one sine some manufacturers don't use amps and use their own made up units like "power" with the rheostat dial reads from 1-4 and hopefully they explain how much amps go in each quarter, but for sure your powersupply's diodes will thank you since they will go out if you max that power supply out.

Thank you.
Originally, I was using a 40amp manual battery charger but the DC system works fine. You just get more activity with higher amps.
Such a blessing to hear the Words in the end! Thank you!
He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me." (Matthew 10:35-27)
So much for the whole family values thing, eh, and the mutual support of your kin?
Thank you for the help in getting mine started.
I like your information and I especially like the Christian messages at the of your videos. You have a new subscriber
Great idea. Lids are a little harder to find than the bottoms. I think that you will love the results that you get from Easy Beezy.
I've been using stainless steel in my setups for over 30 years and have never had an issue, you are good to go
You can use your adjustable DC power supply as a battery charger too, first turn down the current all the way and go up to about 10% current, then set the voltage to the maximum charge voltage (~14.1V for starter battery, 4.2V for a 1S lipo cell, etc), then hook it to the battery, see the voltage indeed drops, then turn up the current to whatever you want (constant current mode), it will eventually land on the voltage you set and stop the current when it reaches the voltage you set because it would be in constant voltage mode. Do not touch the voltage knobs after you initially set it!!! This is why battery chargers exist, because people "accidentally" or really stupidly bump or touch the voltage knobs after setting the end voltage, to prevent stupid they make battery chargers so you cannot accidentally change the end voltage.
Just got a 10A power supply, and took out my non-manual battery charger that worked, but not well. Now I got bubbles!
Awesome! That's great!
What is the best voltage? 5V, 9V, 12V or 24V?
Wouldn't the amp draw vary depending on the water density of electrolytes?"
Have you ever tried, or seen anyone try, adding a paddle or pump to keep the electrolyte fluid moving rapidly around the tank?
I literally found a $10 pond fogger in my Gerage. The DC converter read 24v 1amp. I cut off the fogger.
I have used an inverter stick welder.
I use an automatic automotive battery charger with no issues. Just ad an old car battery in parallel and it solves the problem.
Does the inside the pot get covered in rust scale? You ever try hooking up a piece of steel suspended in the tank for the positive lead?
Word of advice about those DC bench power supply if you are buying them from eBay or Amazon most likely they are made in China and are really cheaply made and my have a risk of caching on Fire because of bad wiring connections inside the Unit I use them for Repair an electronics testing circuits But I would never leave one running without being home or near by if you know what to look for you can take it apart and check the Components To make sure there's no bad connections just a heads up
great show
Hello. I have a question is this something that I could use. It is analog but has safty features. I so have to say that you have made me hobby driven. I'm starting small have my tank almost built. Still watching videos to see if I can improve or not but this is 2/10/50 Amp charger. CEN-TECH 2/10/50 Amp, 12V Analog Charger with Engine Start
From harbor freight. It's $40 new. Anyways thanks for the videos sir.
High-Power SMPS 110V/220V AC to 12V DC Converter - 50A 600W Power Supply - Adjustable Switch Transformer for LED Strip, LCD Monitor CCTV, Radio/Car Stereos, 3D Printer - includes 2 Clamp Wires
Hello, you can use a dc welder as power supply
I have heard of people doing that.
Can you not use a 110 with a Rhea stat switch. Like the kind that comes with a attic fan to control the speed.
Not sure. I will have to check on that.
Stephen, do you know if you can use a normal car battery while being charged with an automatic charger?
Will it work? YES... Do you want to do it.. NO... You run the risk in the battery exploding... Not worth the risk...
SS is fine at low voltage. Not a problem unless you have a huge industrial setup.
How does the pitting affect the cooking?
Can you provide the brand of you dc power and heavy duty wires. I can’t get to the link. Thanks, Steve
AST Labs Test Lead Banana Plug Stackable to Alligator Clip Heavy Duty 39"
Hi, basically I'm using 12v 2amp dc power supply plug in to 220v. I think this was old power supply of network cables router. What is the different / benefit using this device?
The manual battery chargers are getting hard to find and these are a good alternative.
Steve , where can buy the D C power supply ?
here is an amazon link to the one in the video. amzn.to/3ar1uwW
Isn’t stainless steel dangerous while electrolyzing?
Love learning something new. I have a manual battery charger I keep hidden in the garage.
Have you done a video about cleaning nickle plated caste iron?
I didn't see one in your playlist.
I have owned a few but have never done a video on them. Maybe the next time I run across one I will do that.
I've done electrolysis on a few nickel plated pieces. It doesn't hurt the finish.
@@stevesparta4995 Any adjustments needed from the regular method?
@@dagneytaggart7707 no nothing different. Same as the black iron.
Can I use an you train track transformer
Very possible. I have been seeing a few manual battery chargers at Harbor freight and also on Amazon.
Thanks.
Sweet first.
How long is too long to leave a cast iron skillet in an E tank can you damage it like you do in vinegar
I have let them run for several days at a time without any problems. The water may get warn and I usually turn it off before it gets hot and let it cool to avoid too much evaporation.
Is it ok to use a stainless steel tank like that? I was reading that thats not good to do Hexavalent chromium. are you still around?
Can you run one of those tanks off of a fully charged deep cycle battery?
I think so but it may have a risk of the battery exploding.
I just bought a similar DC power unit but I can't get the amps much over 3. Does the gauge wire effect what amperage you can pull? I just used the wire/clips that came w the unit.
Yes. I added some heavier ones and it really helps. amzn.to/3222GV9 *Amazon Affiliate
Maximum amps are mostly depended on the size of your part, your anode and the conductivity of your electrolyte (the liquid). I had the mistake of not properly mixing soda into water, and amps whent up after I did that. Then I added another anode and got more amps again.
Past? Whut? Why? huh? Dang, first time I heard this.... I liked the idea of doing DC power supplies already and I have boxes of them at work.
Hey can you use a automatic battery charger if you have a battery wired into the circuit ?
I have heard of people doing that but have not tried it myself.
Amazon is out of stock on the power supply that you are recommending on amazon, is there another one that you recommend?
amzn.to/2TECe24
When is an electrolysis tank necessary? Isn’t a vinegar bath good enough?
Vinegar will only remove rust but electrolysis will remove rust and old seasoning.
Does the fan ever turn off?
I haven't really noticed. Probably not.
That power supply is not available right now can you recommend another one
lately I've been seeing manual battery chargers on sale at tractor supply and Amazon.
Also wondering this, did you find an answer?
Can I use a 12v 100ah battery?
You probably could but I did not know if it would hold up very long.
@@castIroncookware I ended up using a battery with an onedrive 60a charger connected. Worked fine set at 3 amps battery charge
My voltage is at 20 when my amps are at 9 am I doing something wrong?
SUPERNIGHT 12V 30A DC Power Supply Driver,360W Universal Regulat...
$21.95 at Amazon, recommended on a cast iron group. I dont known if it can work ok. Its a 30 amp unit
I'm looking at a Tripp-Lite PR-15 DC power supply. It is regulated at 13.8v and 15 amps. I think it should draw about 12 amps continuously. Does it matter if the power supply is regulated vs Variable like the one you have here? Thanks!
Not sure
Is there a reason you wouldn't just media blast it? I could have blasted that in my cabinet in 5 minutes or less.
Media blasting damages the surface and effects the way the seasoning adheres.
Great video. I guess you could hook up another power supply unit if you needed quicker action.
I just order another one and there will be a video soon.
Isn't the harbor freight cen-tech battery charger manual I know harbor freight but you are not using the thing professionally in an automotive shop just every now and then to strip some cast iron
Yes, Harbor freight has been offering some manual chargers lately.
I just picked up a manual charger at Walmart. But it was 110 bucks. 200 Amp charger. You can use it at 6 amp 40 amp and 200 amp. I just built my e tank tonight. With this charger what setting do you recommend? Would 40 amp be safe?
I like using 40 amps. Makes it go faster.
Harbor Freight has a manual charger
Stainless steel contains chromium. The electrodes, and thus the chromium is consumed, and you end up with poisonous chromates in your electrolyte.
@@castIroncookware glad to hear that.
@@castIroncookwarehow do you test for it? I too have a few small stainless tanks which I'd like to utilize foe the same purpose but it feels like I'm breaking the golden safety rule.
Why do you have so many Crucifix's in your brick work ?
When my kids were small, I let them play with chalk. My entire carport and shop walls were covered with all kinds of pictures. The only ones that remain are in my shop. My kids are grown now and its a good reminder of their childhood.
Please do not go on the Electrolysis Tank Builder site and ask about using a DC power source. My question was deleted and I could possibly removed from the site. Manuel 12 volt battery charges only.
Why? Seems counterproductive for a group for those looking to build an E-Tank. Manual battery chargers are almost impossible to find. Can't understand why that group would make that rule.
Need to be careful with stainless as you can leach out cadmium into the water

Your audio is really low on your video and I had to have my volume all the way up and I could still hardly hear you man
I found a better power supply for cheaper. But I'm computer retarded. I don't know how to forward the link.
