So true. You’re competing not just with restaurants but with other industries for a slice of that workforce.

Being fun a fun place isn’t really a requirement that 95% workers on the job market are looking for. What people really want aside from a livable wage is to be respected (a “safe space” environment free of toxic co-workers/management) and receiving good benefits

Not sure why there are so many negative comments on this video. Ryan your advice is gold and people like me that actually take the time to listen and appreciate the wisdom you share are very successful in this industry. I owe some of that success to lessons I’ve learned in your videos. Thank you very much. This video was insightful as usual.

Owners demand workers to work +8hours / day, standing, without rest. And they still ask why there is no one to fill the position.
People don't want fun. They just want to be respected.
Work the day, be respected, go home on time and get paid on time.

Beyond a doubt, respect goes without saying. It's the most basic need of any employee. Dawn - Team TRB

Let’s call it what it is…. Being in the restaurant business in 2022 is one of the worse places to be in… High cost no workers, customers rude or looking for a free meal, yelper, Doordasher (Ryan btw why do the doordasher get tips and the restaurant workers that put the order together get nothing?) Boat loads of stress making no money that why after 20+ years I’m out and never looking back!!!

It's definitely a completely different world than it was 20 years ago. There is still successful restaurants - we see them with our clients and members both big and small but it takes time and determination to cut through the problems. Dawn - Team TRB

Per usual, you don't know what you're talking about. The year is 2022 and your advice is alarmingly *outdated*

what always has worked is treating your employees like people instead of scrambling shifts and expecting drop of a hat availability, which franchisers and every middle american restaraunt seems to never do.
Oh, paying them a living wage is a surefire way too lmao

Not sure why you'd continue to watch our videos if you think Ryan doesn't know what he's talking about. but I'm interested to know what parts of the video you disagree with? Dawn - Team TRB

It is definitely an overlooked industry with lots of opportunities to be in charge of your own faith. It's not easy and it has it's own challenges indeed but if you have the drive to make people happy and to discern from "the daily" then you just might have found a good fit for your time invested vs returns
