The styling of the wrecks and victories, at the intro, It throws back to the ABC Wide World of Sports when they used to show Boxing, Skiing, knockouts and crashes back in the 60's and 70's. Check it out to see a reference to this intro!

He was to IndyCar racing what David Pearson was to NASCAR, in that he was undisputedly one of the all-time greats, but because he shunned the limelight, he's not often thought of in the same light as many of his contemporaries, such as A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti, Rick Mears, who he was a teammate of for several years, and to some extent, even his brother Bobby, but when the money was on the line in the big races, there really wasn't anyone you'd rather have as a driver, and his Indianapolis 500 record speaks to that, because in the biggest of all racing events, he was the best ever.
But many people forget that he also won an IROC title in 1978, won the IROC race at Daytona in 1986, and in his one and only appearance in the Daytona 500 in 1968, his cool head served him well in a wreck-marred affair, as he finished fourth in a race that saw 11 caution flags. If he had a few more shots at it in quality rides, I believe he may also have won the Daytona 500, like A.J. Foyt and Mario Andretti did during their careers. He even teamed up with A.J. Foyt (for whom he debuted at Indy in 1965) and Bob Wollek to win the 24 Hours at Daytona in 1985.

Did these IROC cars use the same engine as the stock cars? They sound a little different.

Could've been Tuned Exhaust and Header pipes. Back in the 90's Tony Glover and Sterling Marlin brought tuned pipes for the Daytona 500. They were very High Pitched in the way they sounded. For a while it was a mystery as to what the Kodak #4 team had done to the car. Turns out they would WIN the Daytona 500 that year with those tuned pipes... Now, all of Nascar cars sound High Pitched. I still Love that Deep throated sound of the old days. Bring it Back.....

Never liked the team of Paul Page, Bobby Unser and Same Posey.. Sam was to analytical and thought provoking while Bobby was Captain Obvious in his descriptions. Sam and Bobby actually had an on air argument over Bobby using the term 'transmission" and Sam saying the car really have "transaxles"
