PSA: As of the 1.03 patch, the Sword of Night and Flame has been nerfed. It is still good damage and still perfectly viable, but it won’t be as powerful as the video shows.
It doesn't even do point blank damage anymore

Honestly half the reason I was excited for Elden ring was more ymfah content. Feels good.

When killing the dragon another option is to get the Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot ( one can be found early on south of The First Step grace ) for a 30% boost to the initial 50,000 Runes you get from killing the dragon. It only last 3 minutes so you shouldn't use it till your about to start the final bleeding proc.
The dragon gives you 75 I think.
But I wouldn´t kill him since he gives you a quest later on. The best way to farm that runes is to get 40k free from the black horse rider (doesn´t know his name). You just need to run up a cliff with poison traps and he dies from allone. The rest you can get from farming a ball falling down a cliff. Each time grants you 2k ish. They are both in the same area as the Dragon is.

I'd argue in this case, it's literally somewhat intentional. You don't even have to leave limgrave to get overpowered. Just the bloody slash weapon art and a +2 lordsworn's straight sword got me all the way through Liurnia
What’s amazing about this game is that they expected players to do this, and so they just straight up let you go wherever you want “if you don’t die a million times and rage quit you can have whatever you want from this area.” Is probably what micheal zaki said during development

another small tip, there's a golden chicken leg on the beach straight left to the beginning of the game, that can up the souls you get from the dragon to ~97k
No idea if you can get more of those but I'd been holding onto it just in case something like this showed up and glad I did!

Yea when I saw this, I knew of that location and went there! Hit that leg up and just had so much runes to do more after and now I am literally having a 'blast' in this game now! Barely took me like an hour to get it and start dominating! Thanks @ymfah !!!

Just adding something: you can use that item that increases runes gains for a limited amount of time right before you kill the sleeping dragon with bleeding and be even more OP.

You can also use the golden scarab helm along with it
I would add to put on a gold-pickled fowl foot item before you kill the dragon for 30% extra runes. There's one to be picked up at the end of the beach right next to the beginning of the game.
I did this with both the Golden scarab talisman and a gold fowl foot and only got 78k, not sure what's up but he might drop a fixed amount

@@dawsonwheeler1849 I think I figured it out, the dragons that it enrages are tied to it, and I'm assuming the amount you get is hers and the ones closest to you, I gained 80k one time and less another like 60k,

If you use a golden pickled fowl foot just after the the dragons health reaches 0 you get 97k runes. You can find one on the coast near the Stranded graveyard location near a waterfall.

@@jnoinm Randomly, you’ll see golden leaves falling from the sky. That’s the Erdtree leaves event which increases the amount of runes you get from defeating enemies

.. I’ve found this weapon naturally and have been using it and NEVER knew the night part existed 😂
There are also ashes that have combos. For example if you R2 after L2 with Flaming Strike you will perform an additional flaming attack that also buffs the weapon with fire. And there are others that need you to hold the L2 to do continuous hits (eg Wild Arms) or to press it continuously for rapid fire (eg Storm Blade).
A lot of the *normal* weapons you pick up in passing have skills with surprising utility. The *special* weapons… I think the video speaks for them.

i just finished the game spoiler free and i have to say; it's awesome replaying the game now knowing where to get insanely op stuff from the get go
Fun fact: you can technically reach one of the final areas of the game before beating a single boss, just by vibing your way through everything. Can recommend for the fun of getting oneshotted by a literal crab.
I did it on my first playthrough. it's honestly kind of a trip. level 1 wretched and I opened all the map in the game. (Obviously not the underground) but the moment you do that you get ridiculously OP too. since I got a lot of Godly weapons in the end game area lol. like the Cipher hahaha most importantly there are mobs in the end game that aren't doing anything and just literally standing there and drops a lot of runes too. and sometimes some random mobs having a fight and just passing by them gives you runes.
I started to go back to stormhill after I'm level 55 with + 16 weapon lol
Oh I did that accidentally. I opened a chest and it sent me to some bridge with one of the big lava men but there was no way I could find to go anywhere so I left
That's what's busted about progression in an open world game that scales by area and not level
@@Pundae I still much prefer area scaling to level scaling for enemy difficulty, personally; it always takes me out of it when I go back to the starting area in an open-world game and somehow the tutorial enemies are still able to deal massive damage to my Lv. 100 character in god-tier armor, lol
I actually managed to do this it just took me 3 hours but overall it was worth it
Small tip:At 5:00 at the bonfire underneath the table is a smithing stone(4)

I really want to see a consumables only run in this game using the crafting and cracked pot items. I think that could be cool.

@@UgyBoogie But you can supply yourself with a huge amount and wide variety, some that scale pretty darn well with stats to do the same damage as a swing from a dagger/shortsword. So long as you play rock, paper, scissors against enemy weaknesses, use buffing items for yourself, and invest you stats into making your items hit harder, then it should actually be pretty easy.
Even without counting arrows as "crafted items", since you would technically be using the un-crafted bow to shoot them.

@@UgyBoogie I think you can wait, because while I'm smart enough to realize that it can be done after watching people do easy consumable only runs in DS3 where you can't even craft more in-between fights, I'm too lazy to put in dozens of hours of work on proving you wrong.
About the part where you kill that big-ass dragon, you can have even more souls by using a gold-pickeled fowl foot, and you can find one in the first area of the game, on the beach near the waterfall

As of 23:13 of March 13, this still works.
I was getting discouraged by people saying this was not working, but I hammered away, I finally dual gripped the weapon, you have to do that (triangle + L1/R1) to hold it in a 2H stance, after about 25 hits your bleed will kick in. Make sure it's held in a 2H fashion for this to work.

@@sidekickht weapon is not most effective at your lower strength, so you have to dual grip it, which is required anyways to activate it's special skills.
I did it single handed but it took longer to get the bleed damage
3:40 Before the dragon, head to the shoreline left at the start past Kale to the other merchant and go down to the beach. Keep following the wall until you reach a merchant, and then keep going some more and you'll get a pickled foot drop for more souls gained from the dragon. Should be about 96k instead of 70k.

@Thales Assis Any source of bleed will work, if you wanted to could get the bloody slash ash of war and it'll work on most weapons.
Pro Tip There is a wind thingie behind the first step grace and you can jump off with torrent for faster access to the fowl foot

Anyone else remember the gold trimmed robes early in DS1? They had absurdly high defense for it's weight before it got nerfed. This sword will probably be nerfed into the ground in the same way.
Or probably it won't be accessible so early. Maybe they'll put a fight against something really strong that you can't skip.
But I think they had this in mind they opened almost the entire map the moment you set foot in Limgrave. You just have to be good at avoiding doing stuff while going forward.
What baffles me most is that a legendary weapon like this is just chilling in a chest inside an unguarded room

Honestly, they should do that. Not make it unusable of course, but the damage this thing can dish out right now is absolutely insane. To the point where I don't want to use it because it trivializes the entire game. Which is a shame because both of its skills are just so much fun :(
Fun fact about killing Greyoll for the massive number of runes, you can use torrent to run back to the site of grace near her tail, and if you do it fast enough, her death animation doesn’t finish. The result of this is that you get all the runes from killing her but she’s still alive.
And you can repeat this indefinitely.
For the record, anyone can follow this guide very easily, especially since in this guide you don't have to defeat any bosses. That sword is awesome as much as it's overpowered

To break the game even further, you can upgrade it to +9 by farming somber stones 6 & 7 at Volcano Manor via deathtrap at Raya Academy, and 8 & 9 at Caelid! 😁

I was just thinking “ymfah hasn’t posted in awhile, he’s probably getting ready for Elden Ring.” Sure enough you drop one, great run as always
I found that weapon and saw 3 way split damage and thought “it won’t be worth it” so i’ve never used it.
Then i found out it’s busted. Of course i started with a strength faith build only to find out dex magic is the way to go….
I also did the same thought, but after seeing the video I immediately boosted it to the speed of light! LoL.
Trust when I say strength faith/ dex faith is even better when you enter the late game
STR/Faith is strong af what are you on about. Beast Incantations, STR Ashes, staggering, hyper armor, insta-stance breaking shield counters. If you haven't seen the Dragon Communion stuff you're in for a treat.
@@KnightAarant i have a lot of the good stuff, but here’s the thing. I kinda forgot to level my HP. My Vigor is at 20. Then i have 2 items on me that increase the amount of damage i take.
The fact i still managed to pull of 2 3 man gank spanks in PvP when i’m one shot by most things is amazing to me XD

For even more levels at the beginning that's also in dragonbarrow there is a small bridge that spawns a boss at night. Lure it up the hill with the poisonous plants and eventually it will teleport back to its spawn which will also kill it instantly. Getting you an extra 42k souls that's even faster then slowly killing the great dragon.

Yes, this is a joke, the sword is still useful and the nerf was to be expected.
Got this sword early, and omg such amazing weapon, I've was suffering for not have a faith weapon early on , and when I got this I was " finally a good sword " now I have moonlight and this and omg this sword is much better than moonlight

Another faith weapon you can get early is by killing the invader npc at the round table.
It's pretty easy with the uchigatana and unsheath skill
The winged scythe is also pretty good
There are early game faith scaling ashes of war, you can make any early weapon a faith weapon that way.
@@Shirotsune-Tomuro For the Curious its a fist type weapon with a 30 fth requirement, that goes through shields.
@@Shirotsune-Tomuro you don't have to kill the npc, just go down where you get invaded and go through the doorway.
Wow i really underestimated this weapon. Saw it on the wiki but couldn't be bothered to get it because of the 3 way split damage and I've larnt my lesson from the dancers twin blades. Will have to go give this weapon a shot with a dual faith/int build and see how it plays out. Will be fun to have such a mix of spells to use.
Yeah I got it early as possible didn't even do the castle. 😂 I'm destroying stuff RN lol the beam is broken and the flame one shots a lot of moms (mobs) and groups

1:07 I’m so happy other people think of that. I legitimately kept seeing “touch grass” instead of touch grace for like the first 10 hours of the game.
bro I literally followed the build for my first run and it's been super fun. The sword basically almost into late game absolutely carries with the WA's but it's balanced as you'll have very short windows to actually do them against better bosses. Can't wait for the next vid
Another way to Greyoll's Dragonbarrow is the warp gate by Marika's Third Church to the Bestial Sanctum. You can get the Flask of Wonderous Physick while you're there. You'll have to make a detour to the Swamp of Aeonia to grab the +5 shard, but it means you don't have to suffer through escaping Sellia Crystal Tunnel.
Hey guys, you can farm the smithing stones in the manor from the hand mobs. They are weak to fire, the R2 or RT you get from the item can 1-2 shot them
And it's poetic justice that you murder them with the blade that they killed you trying to get
whats the highest somber smithing stone you get from them? I need 5s and up to upgrade my moonveil more
@@lazystudentprojects They only seem to drop tier 2 stones from my own experience. Lots of them though, I had over 70 when I quit.
If you decide you want the laser beam sword later in your build, you can still get the levels you need pretty easily (in about 30 minutes or less). You need to complete Varre's questline up to the point where you receive a medal from him. He tells you not to use it, but use it anyway and it will teleport you to a really high level area where you can go up some stairs or down some stairs. go down the stairs, and mount up, and then run like hell hugging the wall to avoid an NPC invasion until you eventually run up a ramp with about 15 mobs sleeping and 3 or 4 red colored gaurds slowly walking. there will be a grace at the top of the ramp at a landing. this is your new farm spot. even at super low levels, you just need to make it to that grace and then you can very easily kill the sleepy guy closest to the grace. as you power up, they get easier to kill and the grind gets even faster. once you can one shot the sleepy guys, you will be getting about 70,000 souls every 6 minutes or so (or even faster).
If you want a more detailed guide, basically every single "rune farm" guide on earth is a guide on how to get to this one grace and farm it. i fully expect fromsoft to nerf the shit out of this grace and the sword in the next patch. they did the same thing to the insane soul farming spot in DS1 where the mobs just kill themselves. My guess is that they never intended the sleepy guys to have very many souls on them, but they have about 2k each which is insane.
As for the sword, any faith boosting or fire boosting stuff works on the fire part of the attack, and int boosting or magic boosting works on the laser beam. it kind of makes you split your build so its really not THAT overpowered. the only really overpowered thing is that its a chest item and not a boss drop. plus the attacks for the sword take about seven thousand years and some of the super fast bosses are almost impossible to kill with the special attacks on the sword. if you can't distract a boss, you will have a very hard time nuking them, and its almost easier not to use the special attacks
Even better for lower leveled people… if you go to that same area and look west of that grace point there is an cliff below that has a crow. Bring a bow and a lot of arrows and you can snipe it. If you get the angle right it will run at you and fall off the cliff below netting 13k+ runes every time you reset at the grace next to you. 😁

There's a Gold Pickle right behind the first shrine in Limgrave, if you jump onto the spiritspring with Torrent down onto the beach. This can bump the runes from the dragon kill to just shy of 100k. There's also a Gold Rune[12] in Fort Faroth you can run past bats to get that will push you over that amount
If you want to add so extra range into being extra OP go and grab the meteorite staff with rock sling in the ruins west of Caelid. Beat the game already with rock sling lol it’s op
That's great, I'm running the same build. By the way, if you've already finished the game, could you tell me how far I am to the game if I am at the mountaintop of giants? I've just begun the area but have beaten 4 demi gods (Godrick, Rennala, Radahn and Morgott). I would love to know.

I've actually been duel-wielding this sword with the crystal sword my entire playthrough, and yeah, the weapon art is disgustingly broken.
The game in General is HORRIBLY balanced, especially full bleed builds Melt anything that can bleed.
And PvP is Just oneshot faster than they do and you're fine

With Dragoncrest greatshield Talisman, Bull-goat's Talisman, old Lords Talisman and Lord of bloods exultation Talisman (increases your strength If a blood Loss Happens nearby) you Dont need to do Double seppuku (left weapon First, then right Hand weapon) for smaller enemies but is recommendable against any bigger enemy. Works great in Multiplayer too since its max health % damage damage

also in the first hero grave you can get a catalist that boosts dragon incantations its extremely good with greyoll's roar and ekzyke's decay
fundamentalist incantations are also a good synergy for the sword of night and flame since it has both intelligence and faith requirements

How do you use the night form
In order to use skill 2 on the keyboard, you need to set the key in the settings to the action of a normal strike, and press it instead of an enhanced attack
What exact "action" should I change?

Чтобы войти в навык нужно прожать шифт клик, и когда мы кликаем и активируем его, то у нас идет огненная волная потому что это стронг атака навыка, а нам нужна нормал атака, которая не юзается из за шифта просто перебинди сильную атаку

1. There's a chicken feet at the beach left from the first bonfire, use it to gain more souls when you kill the dragon.
2. Before killing the dragon, you can kill the Night boss that stands in the lower bridge of Dragonbarrow and grab a memory stone too.
3. You're in caelid already, grab that Radagon's Soreseal.
As someone who's close to nearly beating the entire game with this and a Magic Lordsworn Straight Sword, I have to say that this weapon was a hilarious gamble for me. I saw a video on how to get it out of curiosity, and since my build at the time sucked, I decided to respec early and try this out to see if it was any fun. Turns out, it was 100% worth it.

You don’t need to go all the way down to weeping peninsula to get the morning star for the dragon, there’s a flail right next to the front gate grace inside the cart chest that does bleed damage
Flail takes 18 dex which astrologer doesn't have. To be fair though there's a lot of problems with this run guide, directly behind the dragon in the fort is a rune (12) that could easily get you the 6 levels for using the flail. Also night and flame stance is far inferior to Hoarfrost Stomp which you can get on an axe that is much closer to get to than the sword of night and flame.

The other way to break this game early is to get a deathroot, speak to D and go to dragonbarrow. There's relatively easy enemies there with 1k rune drops early enough that that'd almost be a level each, and if you explore a bit in Dragonbarrow you can find Greyoll, who'll drop 80k runes and 5 dragon hearts without putting up any fight at all. Once that go to caelid and find the dragon communion cathedral to find rot breath, which is broken in most boss fights. You can then fight Greyll in Dragonbarrow (proc scarlet rot 2 times and run around till he dies) for another 80k runes.
There you go, 20-30 levels for little effort, and the best dragon spell in the game bar maybe some late game ones (I've just unlocked the snow area, if people who've played know what I mean) but i have over 80 hours in the game and that's what I've seen being insane. Sword of Night and Flame is going to get patched anyways so diversify your portfolio lads
Does using Dragon Communion have any consequences that we know of for our character? The guy you can talk speaks of it like it would give us some all-consuming hunger for power or something, so I'm not sure whether to use my dragon hearts or not.

Still found the dragon breath to be pretty OP, a bit slow but has long range, lots of damage, and different types of damage including rot.
With those stat requirements I knew this sword had to be pretty strong so I started leveling faith and int. However I could've never guessed these levels of destructive power... damn.

It actually isn't that strong and it barely scales off it. The Icerind Hatchet is better, because Hoarfrost Stomp is nearly identical in size, but takes less FP, faster cast animation, has high poise break twice per cast and only requires 11 dex and 16 str and deals the same damage. It also scales off the enemy due to the frostbite proc, meaning every second cast you're doing %hp damage. I was hitting the dragon with the highest HP in the game for 13k damage on each proc. You can also get it a lot earlier and faster in the game for speedruns.
On top of it, for 48 points you can just go for a sorcery build and use comet to oneshot nearly everything anyway.

You're not missing much by not watching this one. It is a short and very procedure-focused guide on how to skip to a late-game OP weapon. Only a few jokes here and there. To someone who's never seen Elden Ring, the things spoiled were a brief npc cutscene, the visuals of the starting areas, the visuals of the late-game area, the way to use the weapon, some enemies and bosses, and the names and locations of places and loot encountered along the way. Skip to 5:40 for just the weapon showcase vs some normal and boss enemies.
To prove how powerful this is/was, I beat the game pretty much exclusively with this weapon in the time it took for it to be nerfed. Beat the game, heavily explored the world and beat a lot of dungeon bosses, and ended up level 150 while only using one weapon seems so weird but this made it easy.
RIP sweet prince, your power will be missed. (It's still pretty powerful, just nowhere near what is shown in this video. Having said that, it'll probably carry you through the first half of the game, at which point you should be able to respec to something else that you don't have to use ~30 combined levels in int and faith to even slightly use)

Wondering what the fewest number of “story” bosses are required to get a +10/+25 weapon. Will be interesting to find out once we have documented where every item, cave, and teleport is and where they go. If there ever is a speedrun of the game I wouldn’t be surprised if that sets the route for a while.
You can get to +4+6 before All Hands, +14 before Moon Mom, +18 before Radar and maxed out before Retard, I think.
You can actually get to the Roundtable before Margit (by resting at a Grace point after being teleported to Caelid through the transporter trap). So, logically speaking, given that you know where to find the required Smithing Stones, you can get your weapon to +10/+25 before *ANY* main story bosses...
PS: Oh, I forgot to mention that the Grace Point must be outside of the Selia Crystal Tunnel. There's an easy one right if you turn left after exiting the Selia Crystal Tunnel.
@@cosmic2750 Exactly being able to go to Caelid is actually an instant way to reach + 25 fairly quick.
For sure you need to kill godfey, the last king and the commander boss. Use the secret medallion at lift to get the ancient upgrade items. Unless you tele to the lord of blood area for a somber dragon stone.
@@cosmic2750 It's real easy to get there before Margit. Just die to him, then rest at the grace in the tunnel. Gives you the invitation.
