SINGAPORE HAWKER FOOD | Chop Hean Kuan 道記 (顯坤) 點心 | People’s Park Food Centre

Toh Kee (道记), a local old school legacy originally specialising in roasted delights, Zi Char and Dim Sum, was founded in 1926 by Mr Ng Chow Hon. His son, Mr Ng Hean Kuan, took over the Dim Sum business and currently, Chop Hean Kuan is managed by third generation Ms Ng.
One is spoilt for choice with the stall's wide-ranged handmade Dim Sum. The all-time favourites are Siew Mai (烧卖), Lo Mai Kai (糯米鸡), fried dumplings, chicken wings and Pau. Their yam balls, seafood and chives dumplings (芋角, 海鲜角, 韭菜角) are packed with the flavours of the fillings in the deep fried skins. Simple-looking buns hide tasty treasures within. The chunky and savoury Char Siew Pau is well flavoured with sweet sauce, while the chicken and pork Pau are juicy, meaty, and just so delicious!
Whatever one sees in the display cabinet is handmade and sold on the spot (现做现卖) daily. One is sure to get the best Dim Sum - made with passion.
