Welcome to the Tarikhology Podcast.
Mohammed Aminoor Rahman interviews the Imam that was awarded an OBE for his courage and ability in ensuring that justice prevailed on the terrorist that attempted to murder innocent people in 2017.
He was appointed as an Imam at the East London Mosque, serving the community to the best of his ability. We cover the life of the Shaykh and uncover little-known facts about him as we discuss his journey from a biology graduate at University College London to an Imam at the East London Mosque and the concept of Da'wah.
Guest Speaker:
Shaykh Mohammed Mahmoud is a London based scholar and Imam.
He conducted his Islamic studies in the UK after graduating from University College London (UCL) with a bachelor's degree in Biology.
He served as an Imam in Finsbury Park for 7 years. It was there where his outstanding courage during the terror attack of 2017 was globally recognised, for which he was also awarded an OBE.
He then served as the Senior Imam at the East London Mosque between 2018-2023. In addition to regularly delivering Friday sermons, he provides ongoing religious guidance to the community, weekly Islamic classes and engages in various outreach and interfaith projects.
He has studied for 6 years, and continues to, under the renowned Mauritanian scholar and faqih, Shaykh Ammar Ali Salem al-Shinqeeti.
The Shaykh is under the guidance and training of Shaykh Ahmad Dabbagh, principle of the UK Academy of Islamic Sciences and Director of WiseLife Academy.
Shaykh Mohammed Mahmoud is currently the Shari'ah and Ethics Officer for an emerging UK-based Islamic Finance Institution, and has co-founded with Shaykh Shinqeeti the Salik Society - an academic institute teaching traditional Islamic sciences hand in hand with tazkiyah and sulook
