Your videos are very impressive. I live on the West Coast of the South Island in New Zealand. We have similar seas like this, but not as HUGE as this !
There are some rocks/reefs here under the surface which seem to push up the wave level as the water comes in from deeper waters, the level drops deep again just in front of the wall.
That is some serious sea wall defence…
Wow 😳 this little bay takes a right pummelling doesn’t it !! Even the Rocky beach doesn’t seem to disperse the strength or power of those waves 🌊
Just wow, you can hear the impact!! I am glad that's a recurve wall otherwise I can't imagine those houses/businesses will be there

3:54 I'm glad the bin survived.
Love this place, love your videos, love the sea. Take it all the boat trips I have done from there were cancelled😂
Highly likely.
wow!!!
Superb, but I'm not prepared to believe somebody brought that blue bin back halfway through 😉
It always amazes me how people manage to get any sleep in these houses so close to the sea.
@Byron Draven I don't think anybody cares
Sleeping close to the sea is like sleeping close to a Motorway. You get used to it. But when something sounds 'unusual' you also notice it.
Makes me wonder how they build that concrete wall there.. with all that water sitting there🤯
The water moves some distance away from the sea wall at low tide.
Reclaiming its rightfull place.
Can almost feel the salt spray; thanks for sharing. Do you know roughly how often the seawall has to cope with waves like that?
Maybe 10 times a year
Water is either your friend or foe!😮
the local council should instal wave brakes in the last 4 meters before wall might not stop them all but should atleast stop the surge
2:05 I take it the blue bin went for a swim ?
