Medivh did say Khadgar was the Guardian at the end of the Karazhan dungeon in Legion - and it's entirely likely Xal'atath was canonically present for that conversation, since she was being carried by a hero. Even if Khadgar didn't believe it himself, Xal'atath would *definitely* call him that to mess with him, knowing full well what Khadgar thinks about the title and considering his last conversation with Medivh.
Also, I don't think it's ever said the Dark Heart can only absorb arcane magic, far as I remember Alleria only speculates it can absorb "magic", never mentioning a specific type. Xal'atath went to the bones of Galakrond to absorb some energy in the Harbinger questline, and Iridikron used it to absorb necrotic or void energy from Galakrond's body in Dawn of the Infinite.
After watching this cutscene again, Khadgar is definitely not dead. I'm willing to stake my life on it haha. 1) We don't actually see him die/expire like we did with Varian or Vol'jin, the only two other characters who've died that match Khadgar's level of importance. 2) It would be more Xal'atath's style to capture Khadgar and corrupt/use him against us. 3) That cutscene didn't have the same emotional impact as any other major character death we've had lately, it almost felt like a side note.

He probably got saved last minute by Medevh. The guardians staff being broken sending out a signal that there was serious danger. Aegwynn perhaps could have popped in and saved him. There's also the possibility that he was taken captive after losing his hand.
I've been expecting something like this ever since listening to his and Jaina's talk in Orobos at the end of Shadowlands. But I will say, if that's how Dadgar went out, being a badass like Master Bra'tac with an Ancient Empowered Jaffa Staff? I think I could eventually accept it. Honestly, my worst fear is we'll get another Ra situation. This was bad enough... that would break me.

if you read that convo again, he states that it is borderline impossible for *him*. He says he knows some mages can do it, but that since he is the only surviving mage and isn't very knowledgeable about it, its basically impossible.

@@LiveErrors yeah, I just mean I think it might reveal a level of calculation in her actions that wasn’t obvious. ‘goodbye guardian’ sounds like she’s checking off something on her ‘conquer Azeroth’ to do list
11:00 Basically what Nobbel is saying that Khadgar was absolutely in no way shape or form ready for that fight, Khadgar was weakened by the nerubians, teleporting, etc and now he has to hold back Xal, If this was Legion Khadgar absolutely he could have pushed her back but at this point Khadgar had basically no energy left in him, it wasn't about defeating Xal it was about giving everyone time to escape. Iirc teleporting Dalaran is just a feat that can't be done in the blink of an eye, that requires energy. Khadgar had nothing to work with.
i would disagree on the "if it was legion khadgar he wouldve pushed xal back" part, i think legion khadgar would have a fighting chance, but a slim one, he is a powerfull mage but he doesnt measure up to xalatath
Xal is not some random dreadlord who never were shown to be super powerful, you constantly defeat them left and right since pretty much forever, their main power is deception. On top of that Xal got obviously an extremely powerful artifact on her side with which 'she' just drains the hidden power of Dalaran easily. If it can absorb that power (what would likely also weaken all Kirin Tor mages, their power IS coming from somewhere), it should be easy to absorb the magic of some mage and if not that, then at least use the just absorbed power of Dalaran against them.
To be fair, wizards in fantasy have pretty much always been about planning ahead. Be it charting the stars in folklore, carefully predicting the spells to learn, advanced study... They're not much better off than a normal person, when caught unprepared. Not necessarily one stronger than the other, just that he thought he was playing chess, but she was playing she was playing poker.
If this is true I wish they would’ve said something about it in-game before the cinematic. Like before Khadgar gives us the portal he comments something about being almost out of mana or something.
All the comments are overlooking something extremely important: Xal'atath has the Dark Heart, which can absorb Arcane energy (to create Shadow). No Khadgar, at any point, would have had a chance against Xal'atath with the Dark Heart in her possession (at least not in a straight-up brawl). Every attack he makes would simply be absorbed by the Dark Heart and empower her even further.
I feel like folks complaining that Khadgar didn't fight hard enough against xal'atath might be overlooking that he just helped teleport dalaran, and he just helped fight of swarms of nerubians. I'd be surprised if he had much mana left in the tank after all that. I felt like sending alleria away used up the last dregs of power that he had left. Plus Tony Amendola who voices khadgar isn't getting any younger (he's 73 at the moment), so I'm not sure how much longer he's going to voice khadgar. I'd love for khadgar to still be alive, I'm always happy to hear Tony's amazing voice, but I wouldn't be surprised if they decided now was a good moment for khadgar to bow out.
@@durotan5245 thats a fair point someone mentioned in trade chat 2 days ago and I want to remain hopeful he just got yeeted somewhere, a Bolvar style stuff.
The WoW Fandumb having the media literacy of Helen Keller? Shocked, shocked I say. Seriously, you gotta stop giving this community the benefit of the doubt when it comes to their numerous ill thought out hot takes (granted 9/10 hot takes aren't well thought out to begin with.)
To me, it didn't seem like all of dalaran got destroyed. It seems like a violent, void infused mass teleport spell. Looking back at the cutscene, some parts of dalaran fall while the city is being enveloped by the spell, but when the spell concludes, we see almost nothing of city debris in the sky, only shattered earth. I think the debris we see on the shore is from the pieces of dalaran that fell off during the massive spell, and in the end the rest of the city was kept (mostly) intact, teleported somewhere else. Maybe in a hidden zone of kazalgar, maybe in the void plain, who knows.
@@RdzeniuPL she talks about the magic surrounding Dalaran, not the rock or buildings. The Dark Heart absorbs the magic, which is why the floating city starts to crumble, its loosing its power to stay together.
His face right before his "death", as if he realized something, then reaching towards the void bubble and the fact we only see it engulf his arm... idk, I think he's still alive in some form. I really like the idea of him becoming ethereal! Though if he's dead... man would it be great if Midnight plays out how you've mentioned, with us losing and being kicked out of/to the edges of Azeroth, and having Medivh guide us again.

I know there had been a lot of manipulation going on, but to me it is a massive strategic blunder to blind jump Dalaran to an unknown region without at least scouting or scrying first. Also they had been informed that the Dark Heart can turn Arcane energy into void, so sending the mages also seems like a strange choice. The way Xal'atath effortlessly broke Atiesh just added how powerful she is An other thing I wonder about is if Xal'atath is going to go for some of the other magical places like Suramar, Karazan, anywhere the blue dragons live or The Sunwell We have seen how The Sunwell reacts to the void, but maybe there is too much light in there for her to convert it.
Also: Khadgar did give his all. You can be 100% certain that he simply put everthing he had in this one attack, because he knew, if there was any chance to break through (and just destroying 'her' body would do nothing, since 'she' is not that elf woman...), it would be to put everthing he has into one shattering attack. That's why he also collapses so fast. He went from 100% (well, of what he had left) to 0% in one second. Gameplay wise it would be his super nuke attack, which leaves him oom and vulnerable, but it's not gameplay, so there is no balancing things out so he can fight on. You are at 0 = that's it.
khadgar became young once before, not surprised if he was turned into a youth once more. For all we know, he is somewhere in azeroth young and confused not knowing who he is.
I might be wrong but I feel like the main reason Alleria getting "mind controlled" is just to give us/the story a reason to go get the one person who probably know more about being "mind controlled" than anyone else. You know who she is, you know where she serves her sentence doing dailies and you know Blizzard is looking for a reason to bring her back because of the fan favorite she was.
Idk man I doubt theyre bringing back Azshara this early, probably later in the Worldsoul Saga though seeing how she is currently on a void plane somewhere
So one of the things that just came to mind... Xal'atath did what took Archimonde significant effort, seemingly effortless. Destroyed Dalaran AND took the Guardian with it (which Archimonde couldn't do). Whether he's dead or not, I'd personally surmise he is. It would be a fitting end for the Guardian. Defending Dalaran and Azeroth. If he's not, it would be a pretty big undercutting of his character, in my opinion. Like sacrifices would mean essentially nothing. Not gonna lie, they're doing a pretty good job of getting me to hate Xal'atath. Granted, I didn't really care as much for Khadgar, but we've been through a lot with him as adventurers AND the amount of chess pieces she's moving on the table is really intriguing. Very Lich King-esque in terms of intrigue (even though they don't have as much of a backstory with her as they did Arthas, but we do have some). I am more than happy for more villains like this. Interesting, cool appearance, likeable in being hated, I respect it.
Dalaran, the famed city of mages, full of powerful and talented spellcasters, yet not a single person checking out to see what's happening in the most central building.
You're right. Death isn't the worst thing. I cried when I saw what happened to Khadgar and Dalaran. I was able to avoid every possible spoiler leading up to this and I'm happy I did. I guess now I need to not prepare for any of my guilds raids if "Puppet Khadgar" is going to be a thing. I'd like to cry again when walking into the room.
I avoided all spoilers of the story and knew nothing about WW except Xal being the big bad. I was shocked when I saw this cutscene. And so sad because I love Dal 🥺
Watching it again, he seems to reaching out into the void orb in a final attempt to do something like teleport Dalaran away? Maybe he gets Dalaran out but loses his arm in the process. I don’t quite believe he threw in the towel there.
The guardian of Azeroth is the player character. It has been that way since at least Cata, maybe Wrath. Khadgar has always known this and has been preparing us for this...
I think Kahdgar is trapped in the Void realm, and we will rescue him as some point. There's a datamined wheelchair with the name "Archmage Khadgar", so he may be alive, but crippled.
If mages (even Jaina) can instantly cast ice block and be immune to all damage, I suspect khadgar is floating somewhere in the void* in a block of ice and I find that kinda funny 😂
Just before the explosion 2 lights go on and off in the middle of Dalaran... Check it it could lead to a speculations... From the shot when we see Dalaran from below next to Alleria
I believe they modeled the behavior of Xal’atath after Savathun from Destiny 2. I love it. She is such a tease. I believe we are going to be frienemies to some extent on an even bigger threat than she is. The pantheon of titans. I hope Metzen return this xpac to a burning crusade level of awesome.
we only saw khadgar’s arm dissolve. the death for varian wrynn, a beloved long standing character, was long and drawn out , kinda same for vol’jin. this cinematic was too quick for such a, again, beloved and long standing character. i hope that means he’s alive
Didnt die on screen, only seen losing a hand. My theory is the real guardian medevh returns and saves him. Being magically in tune, knowing there was a greater threat during legion. Feeling his staff break right after and before major arcane and void energy spikes. If they wanted to fully kill him off it would have been more emotional and we would have seen more than just a hand
Because I'm a nerdy over emotional mess I cried when I first saw this, but after rewatching it, it's clear that he voluntarily put his hand in that void, he didn't just stand there waiting. So he's definitely going to come back as-... something diferent. Also this cutscene despite looking great it suffers from "anime power creep" issues - Dalaran has withstood basically every threat so far, for Warcraft players it feels like this trivializes Archimonde's plans to destroy it or the burning legion in general..... But to be fair, Xalatath being directly empowered by the Void lords means technically she's stronger, since the void lords are stronger than the legion, the titans and old gods.
Khadgar with the Donald Duck Zetta Flare? Edit: Seems like a, "Well, it's going to absorb everything. Maybe if I throw everything I have at once it will be TOO much?"
I thought about something with Xala'tath, some have speculated that she might be an old God. But what if she's above and possibly even more powerful then an old God? Maybe even a void Lord, or she is who the void Lords overthrew to become what they are... because so far her motivation seems almost like Revenge and it's most definitely for being imprisoned. I'm just curious if we'll find out why she was imprisoned and maybe it's because she was a real threat to the void as we know it
She truly feels like an extension of N'zoth, a FF8 esque manipulator who stacks the deck extreemely in her favour with her abilities and knowledge. She only lacks the heavy droning voice and the end of the world monsterous visage the same thing could be done with the other old gods, like Murozond for C'thun
so, ok, the dark heart feeds on arcane magic. So to destroy it, we will need a huge source of ..... Fell magic/power. And who do we know that was really into Fell magic? Our old buddy Sargeras.
In my opinion, I dont think Khadgar is actually dead. Anytime a main character has died in game, like varian, vol jin, and tirion, we actually seen them die, with Khadgar the most we see is part of his arm disentegrate. I think one of 2 things happened : 1. Xalatath imprisoned Khadgar to siphon out his energies since he is a very strong conduit of arcane powers. Or 2: With Medivh's soul roaming free out there, perhaps he had sensed Atiesh being broken since his soul probably has a connection to it, therefore appearing there at the last second and getting Khadgar out of there, I may be completely off but if he's still alive, those seem to be the most likely 2 possibilities.
So Khadgar's main story arc was in Legion, where he was tied to Velen and Illidan. Rejecting fate and prophecy and uniting to write your own fate. Illidan rejects the gift, Velen ignores the hand of fate, Khadgar turns down the mantle of Guardian. What if Xal'atath is going to force Khadgar to become the Guardian. Force all of the magic stored within Dalaran into him. To make him a weapon. Xal'atath never really struck me as being all that powerful in combat. She has always been a manipulator, a tool that guided those to used it to fulfil what she wanted. Part of me wants ethereal Khadgar, I think it would be cool. But I also don't really like that for his character. Part of me really hopes that we see a Med'ivh level Khadgar under Xal'atath's control and we're forced to fight him just enough to break him out of Xal'atath's control. I could see her using the Dark Heart to control and empower him, but once we free him he turns that power on the Dark Heart, forcing a tear in the world to let the void leak in. Kinda like the Argus stuff from Legion.
Dont play but like lore still. You can literally see Khadgar reach towards the orb that she also disappeared into. I think it was a portal but once it was large enough or vacuumous enough, it became a literal WMD
if only khadgar accepted to be the guardian and have the power of it he might have been able to stop her then. its no surprise he failed now. he is just like a normal archmage nothing more
I also feel that Blizzard completly skiped over what happend to the Pillars of Creation did Xal'atath take them or did they get destroyed (if they even can be destroyed)
I cried....oh yeah I did. Mage main since 2008, couldn't do it this trip because of this. I was in Darnassas for that whole thing, now Dalaran. WoW has been a big manipulator of emotions for me. I hope she's not torturing him, I would rather mourn his death than find him dominated (been there, did that with Anduin, don't want to go there again). Just playing to see if he comes back and if Anduin gets his mojo and his throne back. This is just so hard, harder than Shadowlands or Battle for Azeroth.
a quick question, may be nothing, has anyone else noticed there are no sindorei on the isle of dorn? When the armies are training the earthen, none of the horde npc's are blood elves. There are no blood elves in dornogal either. Probably nothing, but it just made me wonder what they were doing since everyone else showed up. Are they busy or something?
Maybe its obvious but i think he noticed Xal atath avoided Alleria void arrow instead of absorbing it like she did his attack so knew he wasnt gonna be able to do anything so rather saves Alleria I just started playing WoW again since quitting in Legion after we killed Mythic Guldan, so i really have no clue about the story or previous revelations lol
Yeah I don't think Khadgar is dead. Part of that is because I love the guy but yeah we see so many other major characters die in rather horrible ways. The closest death we had was Varians but we see his whole body & him beginning to explode. All we saw from Khadgar was just his hand vaporizing. My theory is maybe that void stuff merely transported him. If he didnt have the mana to save himself & teleport away then Xalatath/that spell teleported him somewhere or upon touching it he was able to get some energy back & got out. I dunno. I just refuse to believe he is dead.
So we spent 4 years in game helping to get the dragons superpowers for them to fail in their first assignment of protecting human kind and azeroth?? ROFLMAO....
Somehow i don't think that Khadgar is dead (for now). Something in my mind (through my experience with WoW and other games) "tells" me he is kept a prisioner and beeing tortured with void magic and so. Until we have a 100% proof for his demise i stick with that idea in my mind. Maybe in 11.1 or 11.2 raid we have to fight him in his corrupted form and we release him.
I hope we get to see a Sons of Lothar reunion to some degree this expansion. Last I checked Kurdran Wildhammer and Danath Trollbane are still alive and kicking and would love to see them come together this expansion or the next
Considering we saw Kurdran with an updated model in Valdrakken during the pre patch for war within, i am confident he at least will have a part to play in War Within.
Something about Khadgar always confused me. He's chronologically only about a decade older then Jaina, who by the time Dragonflight rolls around is 43. But he was magically aged into an old man at the age of 17, meaning, somehow, he's managed to live on for 30+ years despite his advanged age. I know that mages can use magic to extend their life but I do wonder why Khadgar has been able to live that long when he's been an old man for at least 30+ years. His should be over 100 years old now biologically. Maybe he was able to gradually undo the aging, and he now looks like he is supposed to, a man in his 50s. But an explaination would be nice.
Humans in WoW don’t follow real-life aging really. There are also tons of outside factors to consider, I mean Turalyon is stated to be several millenia old at this point and would have been long dead without naaru interference
Khadgar doing 0 damage to Xal is silly no matter what way you look at it. There's no way he's that low on Mana. Jaina during her raid fight freezes the sea, is levitating a boat around, having the boat shoot arcane cannon blasts, raining down frost magic, conjuring blizzards, conjuring multiple mirror images to cast MORE frost magic, conjuring frost tornadoes, conjuring her tide elemental, and to TOP IT ALL OFF, at the VERY END, is able to make herself immune to damage while casting a teleport escape spell. And lore wise, Khadgar is a stronger mage than her, AND has Atiesh. (Which should not be getting broken to some generic void bolts lmfao, that's absurd) Yes, the dark heart eats arcane, so blink behind Xal, freeze her solid, then blast her. She can still win the fight, but at least have Khadgar have his IQ be more than 2. He KNOWS it eats arcane magic, why the hell would he use an arcane death ray (Xal isn't even holding it in front of her till after he uses the attack, which also seems like a plothole, but whatever) when he can just use frost magic to keep her still and strike like that? It's just way too goofy making the characters dumb for this opening to work.
In truth, I hoped for a better ending for Khadgar, like teleporting most of citizen Dalaran to safe, or destroying much of force of Nerubian, his death was meh.
Well its not like dalaran blowing up is this momentous thing. Archimonde tore it a new one after te scourge ransacked it. Then it was used by illadin to use the eye if sargeras. Then it was used to house garithos's men and imprison kaelthas and his blood elves. Yeah that place has seen its fair share of molestation so what happens to it now is punching low.
wasnt drenden dead while investigating something? then mysteriously came back unscathed and everyone just assumed he was fine? i coulda sworn it was like in lichking or legion someone had a theory he was undead
We didn't see khadgar die, they cut away from it. Khadgar is to old to die like that, Let's go to the void and save him. If he gets to die, it will be held by his friends. ;_; I want not so super old man in an old mans body wizard back ;_;
I think Khadgar is not dead. Can't really say whate happened or where he is but Im comparing it to Varians death. There is something lacking for me in this scene
The thing that i dislike about this cutscene is that it's so unfathomably dumb strategically speaking, that it is killing the immersion for me and even insulting to the characters and reputation of the Kirin Tor and leaders of the Horde and Alliance. You're telling me that you're investigating into some very spooky corrupt shit and you have loads of evidence that you're hunting someone who's INCREDIBLY powerful and knows stuff about you while you dont even know much about her. Then, you find a lead and want to investigate - instead of sending a warship or scout squadron, YOU TELEPORT THE ENTIRETY OF DALARAN THAT HOUSES ALL YOUR KNOWLEDGE, INNOCENT PEOPLE, IMPORTANT LEADERS, AND HAS A HUGE ARCANE POWER RESERVOIR TO AN UNKNOWN SHORE????? That's like sooo unfathomably incompetent leadership holy fuck. I get that Magni claimed Azeroth was very desperate in her call and that Dresden proposed to teleport Dalaran, but seriously nobody thought that to be incredibly fucking dumb? You have soo many mages there, Jaina has teleported a warship and also made a boat fly, is there seriously no other way to send troops or mages etc to khaz algar? I really want to like the cinematic because it's honestly amazing in all other aspects. But this just completely kills it and ruins the reputation of all kinds of legendary factions and characters to me.
what if xalatath needed a sugar daddy and just keeps him alive to suck the ''arcane power'' out of him. Like the venthyr did to Garrosh calling him a workhorse and what not.
No body, no death argument. King Varian then still alive ? We want for Khadgar to be somehow alive. I have accepted Blizzard story narrative and am acting accordingly to my preferences. I said early in Alpha on X to WoWDevs, WoW and Metzen, that if Dalaran will be destroyed and Khadgar killed, then that will be my end with WoW, unless they bring back both. If not, my journey has ended. Have every single xpac CEs, so I know how much I invested and in money and in gameplay and in passion for game. But person needs to know when to say "no more of this, enough was enough". I had enough fights with this company to realize how it is not worthy to spend any more energy on their any single decision. Let them have what they bring. My two cents.
But here's the question... Is Khadgar actually dead, or is he just off in the Void somewhere learning new tricks while being tortured by nasty beings? I definitely don't like the idea of Khadgar being made a pawn/puppet, if they did that.. it'd be really weak writing that everyone would call them on because it'd just be the Jailer and Anduin all over again. I'd definitely prefer the Bolvar in chains route where you see him strung up and being tortured and hear his screams except this time Xal'atath waits until that moment when we're just about to attack her to suddenly dissolve him alive right in front of us sending Aleria into a blind rage.. only to find out that Khadgar was never there at all and that's just an illusion... in fact Xal'atath has no clue where he went and doesn't really care seeings how he's so weak compared to her.. which might end up being a fatal overlook/overconfidence on her part. THAT to me would be MUCH better writing.
Let’s just go to the Shadowlands and get Khadgar.

I think he’s still alive because they cut away from him instead of showing his death play out like Varian or Garrosh.
@@durotan5245 thats a fair point someone mentioned in trade chat 2 days ago and I want to remain hopeful he just got yeeted somewhere, a Bolvar style stuff.
that shouldve been something that was made clear then
The WoW Fandumb having the media literacy of Helen Keller? Shocked, shocked I say. Seriously, you gotta stop giving this community the benefit of the doubt when it comes to their numerous ill thought out hot takes (granted 9/10 hot takes aren't well thought out to begin with.)
If he's level 73, we can just buy him a level boost when Midnight comes out.
Yeah I thought the same, especially because xalatath said that she will get a better use of dalaran, so why would she destroy it?
yeah, probably the void raid in this or the next expansion will have a broken up dalaran floating around to fight a boss or two, betting money on it
Dalaran can get rebuilt.
Final Raid: Darklaran.
XD the fucking *quest accepted* sound effect after Dalaran gets poofed into the void!!!
Hahaha
Anyone notice that the little fishing island and the extra empty island actually fall away into the ocean before Dalaran explodes.
Cant believe they offscreened Drenden like that
Homie was offscreened like 20 in game years ago.
I don't think Khadgar is dead. I bet we're gonna get a situation similar to Bolvar in WotLK.
No. He disintegrated. He’s dead.

It's a pet, not a toy btw.
@@user-fv7jd4xj5n No. It’s a toy. It’s in the toy section of Collections. Khadgar is dead. Don’t cope.
The way Xal'atath effortlessly broke Atiesh just added how powerful she is
An other thing I wonder about is if Xal'atath is going to go for some of the other magical places like Suramar, Karazan, anywhere the blue dragons live or The Sunwell
We have seen how The Sunwell reacts to the void, but maybe there is too much light in there for her to convert it.
We know the Sunwell is going to play a large role in Midnight. It’d certainly be really, really bad if the Dark Heart absorbed it.
You are at 0 = that's it.
thats how i saw it too, he was straining really hard during that cast
khadgar became young once before, not surprised if he was turned into a youth once more. For all we know, he is somewhere in azeroth young and confused not knowing who he is.
There's a chance Khadgar is still alive. Him telling Alleria this isn't the real fight seems carefully worded.
May be huffing the copium but i only saw dadgar lose a hand so im holding out hope! Maybe xal'atath took him prisoner :3
I like that you came to my exact same conclusion xD
I might be wrong but I feel like the main reason Alleria getting "mind controlled" is just to give us/the story a reason to go get the one person who probably know more about being "mind controlled" than anyone else. You know who she is, you know where she serves her sentence doing dailies and you know Blizzard is looking for a reason to bring her back because of the fan favorite she was.
i dont think so, at the very least not in this expansion, maybe in the next one as its focused on quel'thalas
Idk man I doubt theyre bringing back Azshara this early, probably later in the Worldsoul Saga though seeing how she is currently on a void plane somewhere
Anduin?
Finishing the video, it would make sense to use Khadgar against Alleria.
She shrugged off Khadgar's Kamehameha like it was nothing...
Never believe off-screen deaths. We watched varian crack into pieces and exploded lol
Khadgar popped all his cooldowns on a mythic raid boss solo.
I got flashbacks to Brawl Subspace charges.
But ya I can TOTALLY see Xal using Khadgar to shatter Alleria.
Knowing that Satiella has cosplayed both Xalatath and Khadgar this was very meta to have her in on the reaction
Oh and I just remembered. She also cosplayed Alleria!
i wont accept he's dead until i see a corpse, that magic looked awfully like a horrendous teleport before the explosion
I avoided all spoilers of the story and knew nothing about WW except Xal being the big bad. I was shocked when I saw this cutscene. And so sad because I love Dal 🥺
As someone who just grind dungeons on four toons. I say i need all the lore and reactions and theories you have.
If mages (even Jaina) can instantly cast ice block and be immune to all damage, I suspect khadgar is floating somewhere in the void* in a block of ice and I find that kinda funny 😂
i think Khadgar was a bit of a statement in removing the plot armor that he often was, swooshing in saving and explaining everything ^^
Just before the explosion 2 lights go on and off in the middle of Dalaran... Check it it could lead to a speculations... From the shot when we see Dalaran from below next to Alleria
I guess they never considered that it's a lot of big fucking rocks raining down on her head.
Calling it now, in season 3, mages will hunt for the splinters of atiesh to create their new legendary.
I hope Khadgar didn't really die and just got teleported to the shadow realm .
we only saw khadgar’s arm dissolve. the death for varian wrynn, a beloved long standing character, was long and drawn out , kinda same for vol’jin. this cinematic was too quick for such a, again, beloved and long standing character. i hope that means he’s alive
She only lacks the heavy droning voice and the end of the world monsterous visage
the same thing could be done with the other old gods, like Murozond for C'thun
Final boss of this expansion - dark Khadgar in dark Dalaran!
Khadgar is so obviously alive its wild
I really don't believe he's dead. He's just been captured!
so, ok, the dark heart feeds on arcane magic.
Or 2: With Medivh's soul roaming free out there, perhaps he had sensed Atiesh being broken since his soul probably has a connection to it, therefore appearing there at the last second and getting Khadgar out of there,
I may be completely off but if he's still alive, those seem to be the most likely 2 possibilities.
"I was just emotionally scared" me too
Nobbel87, nice work, keep the videos coming
I think they will use him as some void corrupted boss later.
Also looks someone at blizzard really likes feet
if only khadgar accepted to be the guardian and have the power of it he might have been able to stop her then. its no surprise he failed now. he is just like a normal archmage nothing more
Willing to bet he's not dead and that was a mirror image of himself.
Bro used substitution jutsu 😂 xalatath killed a block of wood
I also feel that Blizzard completly skiped over what happend to the Pillars of Creation did Xal'atath take them or did they get destroyed (if they even can be destroyed)
Pretty sure those are still at the tomb of Sargeras. Keeping the portal there sealed to keep the demons from streaming in.
@philippeblais8594 yea you are right totally forgot about that, got confused as they were still showcasing in the portrait room.
So who thinks we’re gonna get an Atiesh 2.0 Legendary this expansion? Gotta find all those splinters again
Xa'latarthas: this city must be purged.
I didn't see a body, so according to the rules, he's alive somewhere.
Maybe its obvious but i think he noticed Xal atath avoided Alleria void arrow instead of absorbing it like she did his attack so knew he wasnt gonna be able to do anything so rather saves Alleria
I just started playing WoW again since quitting in Legion after we killed Mythic Guldan, so i really have no clue about the story or previous revelations lol
If the dark heart is consuming him and hes stuck in it they chould bring him back
So we spent 4 years in game helping to get the dragons superpowers for them to fail in their first assignment of protecting human kind and azeroth??
Possible spoilers:
All of them are present in Dorn together.
I rly like the RPG explanation of Khadgar using his mana/spell slots defending Dalaran before reaching Xal'atath that makes a lot of sense
They're gonna do a lord of the rings. We'll get him back as Khadgar the white.
Khadgar is max level boss every expansion let’s not get it twisted
(Which should not be getting broken to some generic void bolts lmfao, that's absurd)
Yes, the dark heart eats arcane, so blink behind Xal, freeze her solid, then blast her.
It's just way too goofy making the characters dumb for this opening to work.
glad i got khadgars head as a pet
In truth, I hoped for a better ending for Khadgar, like teleporting most of citizen Dalaran to safe, or destroying much of force of Nerubian, his death was meh.
The fact that Atiesh SHATTERED... ... Kinda hoping we regather its pieces like in Vanilla, again.
Rest in power, Khadgar
Dude... first Khadgar dies, and now Dalaran falls again?
wasnt drenden dead while investigating something? then mysteriously came back unscathed and everyone just assumed he was fine? i coulda sworn it was like in lichking or legion someone had a theory he was undead
I honestly don't think Khadgar's alive, you see his hand disintegrating, sadly I think he has been disenchanted like Varian was
We didn't see khadgar die, they cut away from it. Khadgar is to old to die like that, Let's go to the void and save him. If he gets to die, it will be held by his friends. ;_; I want not so super old man in an old mans body wizard back ;_;
Honestly, it would be kind of weird saying "goodbye" and not killing him. I'd rather Blizzard follow through with the decision to off Khadgar.
kadgar dies because he is using a lvl 60 staff
Still Would have preffered if he actually made it a fight, Using the power of dalaran she spoke of? But in the end its not enough..
My two cents.
haven't seen the giant form thing so cool thing to do with alts I guess.
Why didn't he teleport himself too? Didn't seem to bother him aboard KJ's ship.
Legendary Atiesh quest for casters please.
No body no death? He was disintegrate. I would like to remind everyone of varyin no body but he was disenchanted.
We technically only saw his hand get disenchanted, with Varian it was very clear it was the whole body.
@nobbel87 there is a squid flying in Hallowfall named "the guardian"; squidghar confirmed?
Where was the arcane shield from Khadgar? :D
