I liked that Marvel included the USS Eldridge in this episode. It's a nod to the movie The Philadelphia Experiment which involved the Eldridge which was based on a story told by another sailor from another ship in 1943 who claims to have witnessed the Experiment to render naval ships invisible to radar and human sight with a cloaking device. The ship disappeared and later reappeared with many of the crew fused to the ship's bulkheads and structure. The claim was that the Eldridge went through time. So Marvel took this story and used it for this episode as if the disappearance was the result of of Pruning.

I love all your analysis because I believe this is how fans should go into it. We get really invested in the comic lore to the point that we get distracted of what's important. And I agree completely with you, I connected with old loki A LOT because in my mind he is what the loki that we knew was, if he'd survived and lived, and everything happened just the same, he ran away and realized that everywhere he went he brought chaos and destruction, this show likes to tell us loki is a narcissist but time and time again we see evidence that he's capable of change. And old loki (who I took as the main loki, the one of our timeline) survived and hide and try to protect everyone including himself, but he missed his brother and his people so much he was ready to face those things. I cried with his sacrifice because right at the very end you are absolutely right, his glorious purpose was doing something for the greater good, not for himself, was the ultimate testament of his change. And deep in my heart I knew that he was the Loki that we lost. And that shit hurt really bad. I agree with absolutely everything else you said, and as someone who has had struggles with finding connection and understanding, I can attest to say is not uncommon to take your first *real* connection as a romantic one. Sometimes it's mistaken and sometimes it isn't.

Even the music continuation over the end shot and credits made me sit back and absorb it. Such an epic rendering of the leitmotif, when eventually transitions into a beautiful, pensive, yet slightly ominous outro.
I want THAT specific piece made available.

16:44 Hunter B-15 is played by Wunmi Mosaku. She is amazing. In this. In Lovecraft Country. She needs to be in everything. Period.

I watch this channel specifically because of your unique perspective on the genre and the different ways you interpret these shows because you have a more limited exposure to the source material than myself and other reactors. Don’t ever feel that it detracts from your reactions in any way; its a strength not a weakness. I gain a tremendous amount of optimism and hope from you as you react to surprises that I’m often too jaded by my comic book knowledge to fully enjoy. Thank you for sharing who you are wth all of us!

The reason you're sad is that "Old Man Loki" IS the MCU Loki. He finally found the glorious purpose he looked for his entire life.

I love that you go into these totally blind, and that it so shows... I had seen the image of mobius driving that pizza car for weeks, but it was actually fresh for you!

I know some people knock MCU fans for not being "true fans" but I love them. Big comic book nerd here, that said watching virgins get into some of these characters is so much fun. There is a raw realness in their reactions. Keep at it.

It's really interesting to me that for a moment there I actually forgot this Loki isn't the same one that got killed by Thanos in the movies, all because he somehow arrived at the same point in his development as a character but by following a different path of loss and having his so-called glorious purpose exposed for the sham it always was. I was reminded of the fact that he was the Loki that fled from the first Avengers movie time stamp with the Tasseract in "Endgame" when President Loki came onscreen and started acting like Loki from the first Avengers movie but ramped up to 11 and I realized how different this guy now was to that version. And I somehow buy it because it feels earned, and kind of like through all this mess he was reminded of who he was before the first Thor movie, since at the start we see that, yeah, he's a bit of an asshole but he's clearly shown to have a long history of being an ally and companion of Thor and the Warriors Three and when he turns bad and betrays them they're really angry about it. So he was always the God of Mischief or Lies or whatever, but he wasn't always a power-hungry maniac and he seems to have remembered that.

Agreed. Finding our about his parentage pushed him over the edge. Though he always had villain in him. If current Loki had showed up with this much wisdom and self awareness I’d have said crap. That’s not Loki. BUT they really showed the development in this series. Having a really really good guidance counselor helped too 😉

My question about Lokigator - - When he cries, can we trust his tears? As for Sesska's reactions, I agree 85-95% of the time, I also focus most on the characters and how they develop and grow, and it's amazing how the Loki in episode one can see himself in just 4 episodes later and be a new person!
