You’re always so wonderfully informative. Can you cover what we need to know about adopting children from foster care in other states? Maybe some best practices. Thanks! God bless you 🙏🏾
My husband and I are planning to adopt from foster care in our state! We’re actually going to do some house showings this weekend and we’re hoping to make an offer on a house. Once we’re settled in, we plan to get in touch with some agencies and start doing more in depth research
My husband and I did the exact same thing. We moved into our house last February. We started looking for agencies in April, finished our IMPACT classes in September, completed all our paperwork and medical/background checks by October and we finished our home study by January. We should have our twin girls here by the middle of next month.
@@rachaelisham3573 thank you! We are very excited. I don't know if most agencies are like ours but we had to find the kids to inquire about and we had to do a lot of follow-up with our case worker to keep things moving along.
@@shecamt ... Hey ... We have found a girl we want to inquire about ... whats the very first step from here? And maybe share the next step or 2 from there. Big hug and congrats on your adoption.
@The Amber Life, thanks but since my last post a LOT of things have changed. The agency I was with closed right before the visitations with the twins started and they transferred us to a new agency. The twins were in a temporary transitional home that is supposed to only prepare the kids for their new home but after all of our visits and the day before we signed the paperwork I get a call from my agency telling me that the temporary placement foster mom wanted to keep the girls. This is not how it's supposed to happen. So we didn't get the girls. Like I said a LOT has happened in a year and after going through things my husband and I had to go through with a system that is broken and doesn't even follow its own rules we have decided not to continue to pursue adoption. First, you identify the child or children you are interested in and there should be an identifying number attached to their profile. Give that number to your caseworker and your caseworker will contact the kid's caseworker. Once your caseworker gets more information about the child they will contact you and let you know a little more about them. If you are still interested your caseworker will send you a copy of the child's information for you to read over. A lot of the information they send you can be incomplete with gaps in time and information missing. Always when reading the information and talking to the agent you have to really listen to what they tell you about the kids AND what they don't tell you about them. If you still want to move forward you will have a meeting with your caseworker and everyone involved on the child's side. If you still want to move forward they will set up a meeting with the kids.
Love your hair! So cute! ❤ I'm still really young but I've wanted to be a mom for years now. Thanks for making this information accessible and informative
Thank you so much for all of your honesty and helpfulness! I had no idea that if I wanted to adopt from foster care, that I could do that from a state I am not living in. This definitely widens our options when looking for available kids :)
I want to hear about international adoption and what it takes, from what countries and the roadblocks. I also want to know if there is a cut off for how many kids you can adopt and how already having children affects it. Lastly I would like to know about if a child has been removed from a home and is in need of adoption is that easier to do?
Thank you for the video! More about adopting a child who is freed for adoption would be great. Can families get a good idea about if the match will be a good one?
Thanks for the idea :) Generally, if you're adopting a child from foster care, the caseworker will decide if you and the child are a good match before you ever meet the child. The process varies from state to state, but that's usually the general process.
Thank you so much for these videos! They’re extremely helpful. I would love to know if you recommend any specific adoption lawyers in Southwest Florida. We are in the very early stages of looking into a domestic in state newborn adoption. And are looking for recommendations on professional & ethical adoption lawyers in our area that can help us through the process as first timers. Your input will be greatly appreciated!
Hello! Unfortunately I don't recommend any lawyers, but you can probably find a lot of great ones in FL! Try adoptionart.org to find experienced adoption attorneys
I'm being told that there is a staff shortage, that they can't do the training class til , I do my home study first. That doesn't sound right, on Missouri social service says contact apply train. What you think?
Will agencies be able to provide this info or will you have to call the state the child is from? I thought it was the agency's job (you're paying for) to guide you on everything u need for a successful adoption?
Can I have a home study in my current house , even if it doesnt have a spare room (its a1 bed apartment) ??? We plan to move into a 2 / 3 bed before we have our adopted child of course. In the middle of the process we were looking at. Is this ok ?? Can we just be vocal about that and it not cause our 1st home study to fail or anything ??
Hi! I’ve emailed some agencies in my state but haven’t received an answer yet. I was wondering if a birth momma has already chosen a family she’d like to adopt her baby, but is in dire need of financial assistance due to the pregnancy, would it be best for her and the other family to go through and agency together for her to get help? Or are there other ways? Thanks so much for all your information!
That’s a great question - there are actually many more options to adopt than people realize! So it’s hard to give the best answer without knowing more about your family’s goals. I’ve found what usually what works best is filling out a form with the most important pieces for me to know and then based on that information we can get on a call to explain the next best step. Would that be helpful? I know there’s a lot of confusing/conflicting info on Google that can make things a bit overwhelming so let me know and I’ll send it over!
what are the steps of adopting an kid from the USA from fostercare when you live in Europe? Can kids all age ranges be adopted or is it just for the very young?
Thanks for watching! What do you think about agencies sometimes not playing well with each other?
They've turned a beautiful, loving action, into a money-making limbo machine. It's disgusting. Thank you for your videos!!

Great question. You will go through background checks for your hoe study so any records you have will show.
