Not a complaint but a precaution, wear an appropriate level respirator when spraying toxins. Even a close fitting cloth mask really only ptotects against dust particles. Altogether she did a great job.

She done great! For myself I never use nails to secure fence boards as they will rust out and also pop out. Instead I use all weather deck screws. I first attach the boards using a finish nail gun and then string a line and put in the screws along my string line to keep the lines straight. I may also pilot the screw holes to prevent splitting as the wood dries if necessary. I'm primarily a finish carpenter and my fences weren't very long and using screws is three times the labor plus more cost so it might not be practical for big fence companies. That being said when I see a fence going in with just a nail gun I am not impressed by it as it seems a cheat to me after all that work. My trick for sealing post bottoms is brushing on Henry's emulsion to prevent rotting and of course a layer of gravel at the very bottom.

She's extremely talented and the fence turned out beautiful but as for my operation, we use screws in several of the attachment points where she used nails, including pre-drilling if near the ends of boards. Has proven to be more stout long-term. Even ring shank nails can back out in certain conditions. Man, that must've been one expensive build though! Love the look!

Why? 2 ft down in a VERY rocky and stable ground with 160 lbs of concrete per post with a frost line of 0 and 6 ft on center in central Texas hill country with low winds. She did more than she needed to.

Only thing i would have done diff if it was possible would be to use 12ft boards over 6ft. That way every other board has no seam at the post which would make the fence stronger.

Sometimes it comes down to more then just " I want." If you live where there's a lot of rain/snow you might want to reconsider. When two boards meet and form a ledge for rain/snow to rest on it could cause problems that would make the wood prematurely fail.

    • @Meatball2022

120’ fence would need probably 20x16=320 pickets. Pre pandemic id assume each picket was probably $5 bucks or so. $1600 in just pickets. Not including posts or cement. Her fence was much longer too if I remember right. I’d figure this cost is triple that now…. Hope my math is right. I think her workshop is out in the country. Might be delivery charges etc that escalate this.

@@dalesworld1308 Nothing shameful about someone in business getting paid, or maximizing profits. I like her content (and Cody's), and anything they can do to keep being able to produce it is fine by me. I watch TV shows that have commercials, too, because fast forward still works. I don't really care why they're featuring this or that tool or service, whether just for the sponsorship bucks or because they really use it and 'sincerely' fell in love with it -- I care about the project ideas, the design, execution, video editing and composition, personality of the presenter, and the overall watchability and entertainment value of the video. If it takes a sponsor's help for them to keep putting out content that gives me all that, then like I said, no shame in using it.
