Harper made a PCP Derringer last century using Brocock Tandem Air Cartridges (TACs). He also used them to make the world's smallest air pistol and several air canes and walking stick guns. Nothing new under the sun 😎
I visited Harper once and saw a number of canes and walking sticks. What I didn't realise until I searched for your link was that Harper also produced firearm versions in e.g. .32 and .410. All the PCP (TAC) guns were banned in the UK back in 2004😢
Awesome, Miami! Love the concept, size, 4000 psi fill (impressive!), and, especially, the simulated pepper gel/paint ammo! That could bring some real "shock and awe" to a bad guy OR a guy having a bad day, w/o, hopefully, the legal consequences for "ending" 'em either. Kudos to you, John Derringer Jr., for showing this to U.S. and to Mercury Rise for another great innovation. Exciting times! Can't wait for a "phazer" I can "set to stun!"
Love it, well done .. Here in the UK we used to get 20+ years ago, before they were banned, Brocock (now BRK) air cartridge revolvers and rifles that used to shoot a .22 pellet and you had to use a hand pump to fill them, but they were great little things, they would only power 2-4 ft lbs but a lot of fun fighting the gangs of roving gnomes.. yes, we get them here too.. now and again..
Ciao Stefano! Eh si ti ci vedo bene con questa nella borsetta ahahahahha! No in realtà è una figata. Non so quanto utile, ma una figata! Un abbraccio forte amico polare
What a marvelous thing! I would love one but here in the UK, that would be a totally prohibited weapon! The closest I can get is with my little Marushin Industry gas powered 'air soft ' derringer in 6mm. That is amazing fun to shoot and with a little inventiveness and ingenuity, can fire all sorts of small calibre projectiles, including darts. But this Mercury Rise pistol is amazing and apart from any 'self defensive' apllication you guys might think you all need, is just a great fun recreational pistol. I like the fact that you need to prep all the components.....it sort of adds to the hobby and fun. Again, with a little ingenuity, you could use many home made projectiles to experiment with. What a pity I will never see one in the UK! They outlawed the Brocock Cartride here many years ago!! So this wonderful thing doesn't stand a chance on the UK market. 😞 As ever, another great review. Thank you.
The statement "apart from any 'self defensive' application you guys might think you all need" is the reason why the UK prison island government will never allow its' subjects like you to own guns. Your serf mind is conquered already, so you don't "need" any guns.
In Belgium too, it is forbidden to wear it, but if it were less powerful than 0.2 joules, we could have it to play at home with plastic balls.Or for paintball to surprise the opponent.
That's a cool little deterrent carry, it should get someone to think twice about getting rowdy with you. Bummer that the pumps keep dying on you, I'm glad that you let us know which ones are more or less reliable. P.S.: The hair flip with the wig on was a nice touch, uh, very sexy. That's part of the reason we all keep coming back, your videos are all very informative and also super entertaining. Really looking forward to the next videos!!
Well it does say training pistol. My co2 powered GEM is almost as powerful now. The idea is sound but the volume isnt great enough for anything more than a pepper blaster, in which case i believe the Kimber pepper blaster is a better option. Really great to see the progression of the industry thus far. Fun video 👍🏼
The darrenger pistol is meant for close range. It's ok, you don't have to step back with it. You wanna step towards it? It's a close quarter combat weapon. I think you did well. I wish you was. I've gotten a little closer with some of the other projectiles. I think it would have done a little more damage maybe

Oh man, thank you so so much! Really appreciate your kind words and support! I’m really blessed for having slowly built a relationship with manufacturers, who know that despite their trust in me - I will always give an honest and open review! Sounds corny, but it’s true :)
It's a powder ball torpedo. It's not nearly the most powerful handgun in the world. It'll blow your head clean off. I think I mentioned this before, but many years back, someone was producing a PCP Springfield rifle in 9mm that used precharged cartridges, and is the first use of them that I know of. Pepper spray guns that are essentially little PCP guns have been around for a long time. They just have a little charge of air that blows out some pepper spray. They weren't very reliable, because they could lose pressure before you go to use them, and just end up being useless. Derringers have never been known for their accuracy. Back in the old west, two women were having a duel over a man they were both interested in. They fought with Derringers. They paced off, turned, and fired two shots each. Neither one was hit. Their issue was resolved, however, because one of them had inadvertently shot the man they were fighting over and killed him. At an NRA convention a few years ago, they had a booth where they were doing pepper spray demonstrations. The pepper sprayers were loaded with water for safety. Next thing you know, people around that booth have their eyes burning and noses running. One of their sprayers accidentally got filled with real pepper spray.
Hahahahahahaha!!! Thank you man for that great story! As always your comments are a reassurance and in this case it made feel a lot better. I really felt like them two women yesteday
Shot shells and more pressure will make this a must have for close quarters for those who can't carry. Not too mention they are trying to ban air rifles and airsoft now.

Always appreciate your feedback and reviews. I think for the price. Low joules high fps. And small cal. I dont believe it would have the effect folks would hope for. A kimber pepper "derringer" device is 35$ a piece and i feel may be more effective 😊
I can see aftermarket aluminum barrels being made and inserts for shot shells etc. that way accuracy is not so important. Aluminum barrels will allow a heavier lead slug to be fired as well
Great video, Gian! Always liked the Derringer. Didn't care much for the transparent barrels, but I guess it's useful to show what's loaded at the moment. Who's the hot blonde, your sister?😂
Hi Harold! Thank you so much as always and you make a good point! But I always leave that out purposely, for two main reasons: 1) when you start talking about prices, YT could think that I’m trying to sell these products. Which I’m not. 2) prices change in time, while a video stays up “forever” But there are always links that take you to where you need to go 😎
as far as the compressor get a Rovair 4500 been using mine for a few months with several PCP rifles my Notos fills in a few minutes with its small stock cylinder and my Gauntlet fills quick and is at the upper limit of the compressors capacity. it has less maintenance than most cheap ones so you can just use it and change the filters every so often it has the inverter built into the housing so it is simply a plug in and run it for 12 volt or house plug and at 500 its a good deal if you don't want to work hard to fill your guns with a hand pump
Sorry, been away for a while. This is a gun that interests me. Perfect for carrying. One thing I would really like to see is small CO2 cartridges to replace having to use a PCP pump. To purchase one of these guns means an investment in a pump which substantially adds to the overall cost. The sale of this gun is limited to those who already own a PCP pump. So, the question is, what company is willing to manufacture small CO2 cartridges, and is it possible? Oh well, I can fantasize right 😜.
Alright mate 👍 got some kick for a littel gun good for a novelty gun in the collection . Just seems alot of Hassel charging it for two shots . Glad the sun's out bloody freezing over here 😂 .as always keep up the great work mate
One more for the collection my dearest Stuart! But listen to the Mrs, not to me hahaha I will only get you in more trouble 😂 Thank you so much mate! And a blessed 2025 to you and yours! Some changes coming up here… hopefully positive!
Tear gas guns were a big thing from the 1920's until the 1980's You could buy them mail order, they were usually in .22 and 25. based on blank guns. With powdered tear gas propelled with a blank powder charge. The pistol you are reviewing is outward based on the Remington Elliot Derringer in .41RF made from 1866 until till 1935
Very nice and concealable and will help give you an advantage after shooting it and then engaging in hand to hand combat against a black belt jujitsu man, being you yourself are at least a blue belt in jujitsu lol
Thanks, very engaging presentation, as usual! Fun little pistol, I think, but not of practical use to me, even as a last resort. Pepper balls in California are illegal so I question the practically even of that here in Cali (ironically the home of Mercury's Rise). My test for self defense tools is: would I feel good if my daughter carried it? This item would NOT make me feel good.
I don’t like the plastic barrels I get it’s probably to see what’s loaded in it or if it’s loaded but seems like it would break way to easy and I wouldn’t want it to be pressurized
ok at the end you use the balls. they almost fell out. you should try and treat it like a muzzle loader. maybe use a wad like a cloth around the ball or a sabot, anything to take up all the space in the barrel not only to hold the ball but you will get a better chronograph reading as well. maybe even try .454 lead balls love the video sir good job.
Good point! I used the “factory ammo” for that test. I didn’t want to add anything to take up the space, so the chronograph wouldn’t be confused by multiple objects flying out of the barrel. But you are right, would’ve been better with a 100% sealed ball
On sale for $270 right now, which is actually quite reasonable for a derringer. Don't like the clear barrels as they make it look like a toy, which means that a criminal is more likely to not take it seriously and force you to use it. Kind of bulky - same size as a 9mm holdout semi-auto, but as usual, if you're not permitted to own a real firearm... That said, remember folks, if you are not legally permitted to carry a real gun, odds are that you will be arrested if you are caught conceal carrying this thing - that applies to both felons and people who live in areas which don't allow conceal carry. Would have liked to see the darts with a layer or two of tee shirt between them and the gel as they didn't penetrate all that deep. Sadly, the pepper spray looks to be most effective - heck, even just getting hit in the face with regular paint would suck - still, normal pepper spray is far cheaper and you get far more in a pepper spray container. I agree - this is a gimmick as anyone who would want to carry it due to not being able to carry a real derringer is still not permitted to carry it, while if you're using it for home defense, you can use something larger and far more effective. Still, it is neat and innovative and with time, these sorts of self-contained PCP guns will get better and cheaper, so if you're the sort of person who likes to brag that you were in on the ground floor, I would say that $250 is worth it for a gimmick gun like this.
I'd really appreciate your help in deciding between buying the pistelle 68 with the long barrel kit + another mag, or buy the AEA Megalodon 15 pump. The pistelle is almost $700 total, while the megalodon is almost $1,000. I already have a Salt S2, HDX 68 (40 joule version) and a modified HDP50 (around ~20J). Would it make more sense to get the megalodon so I have something that is really powerful for home defense? Or just adding the Pistelle to my collection is enough? (can never truly be enough though lol)
Hi there! Well all I can say is that the Megalodon is my personal choice, so I really recommend that one! But, that one is 100% lethal. Nice collection btw 👏🏼
@ What do you think about the Bintac m50, bintac t9, or going all out for the FX Impact m4 30cal ?? Or is the megalodon better than all for a home defense wep? Also thank you!!! It’s a small collection but.. working on it 😎
Hi, Again you video quality is 2nd to none, however I am afraid this Derringer would be a good paper weight, very much a novelty, way to clunky for the little benefit, however it was very entertaining. Thanks
Ih think you kan reloade the paint cartiches. If you can get the reg pap of. The work like a cereinch. So you hafe to push the Plunder Beck Film the tonne the a liquid like paint. Or chili öil😅 and resiel te tip thif thin hotgloo.😊 P.s. sorry englisch is not my first laguage and im des lektick. Die flüssigkeitspartoner müßte man nach füllen können. Still be the best channel on here even with changes
This would be awesome here in CA. I hope it’s allowed.
That's called a get off, me, gun. In California, that would be a good thing to carry.
Hahaha love it! ‘Get off me’ gun
are the pepper/colour-cartridges refillable? (and by what means?)
EDIT: love your vids!
Cool concept but those "California" prices won't sell too many here in the Midwest.
I think those California prices will come down now 😬🔥
Tear gas guns were a big thing from the 1920's until the 1980's
You could buy them mail order, they were usually in .22 and 25.
based on blank guns. With powdered tear gas propelled with a blank powder charge. The pistol you are reviewing is outward based on the Remington Elliot Derringer in .41RF made from 1866 until till 1935
Very interesting, thanks for sharing your knowledge! 🙏🏽
@@AirgunAlley Really enjoy your work. I was in the gun business for 40 + years.
I try to not be a know it all. 😆
Hi , my Friend , that's a Great Video + a Nice Derringer , thanks. Gruß Hans.
Hans!! Thank you! As always!! Your support is becoming indispensable to my channel :)
Thank you!
Ouch, imagine catching that hunk of plastic in the eye hole with a load of pepper spray.
How long can these things hold a charge while in storage?
Yeah, they didnt even tell me! Gonna have to yell at em ;)
Beaaaat yoooou! Bahahahaha! Just kidding brother, I’m sure they’re headed your way very soon. Very curious to see and hear your thoughts on it!
@@AirgunAlley Hehe Man, you are FAR beyond me when it comes to pcp launchers. I’m gonna have to study up :)
@ sssssh I’m watching your video now! Stop interrupting ahahah
Anyway, more than study up, you need to compressor up! Then it’s all a piece of cake
@ ROFL!!!!! Fortunately, my son owns an airsoft field. I picked up one of his scuba tanks in preparation :) Oh, we’re gonna talk at shotshow :)
See you in the desert!!
Very good video. As usual. I find this item to be a bit pricey. I just checked their website and $350 (retail) $250 on sale is still too much.
Thank you so much, as usual my friend!! Yea airguns are never cheap. Very frustrating indeed
Very nice and concealable and will help give you an advantage after shooting it and then engaging in hand to hand combat against a black belt jujitsu man, being you yourself are at least a blue belt in jujitsu lol
😂
We this set up for the defender 2. With bigger cartridges.
Seems like a point-blank weapon.
Very much so!
A trip to the compressor/tank for every shot and low power? Hardly worth the effort, I would say.
Is there any metal sabot or shot that will work with this? Probably has to be low grain for a 350fps...
I don’t like the plastic barrels I get it’s probably to see what’s loaded in it or if it’s loaded but seems like it would break way to easy and I wouldn’t want it to be pressurized
At least visually it's a copy of the Bond Arms derringers. I wonder if it fits my Bond Arms holsters
I would think so….
Well.. at least I think the disclaimer/tape segment got renewed...
Yes, too many people constantly asking me how they can buy stuff from me
@@AirgunAlley
And now also the "prmote" is "promote".😁👍🏻
Up close and personal 😢
ok at the end you use the balls. they almost fell out. you should try and treat it like a muzzle loader. maybe use a wad like a cloth around the ball or a sabot, anything to take up all the space in the barrel not only to hold the ball but you will get a better chronograph reading as well. maybe even try .454 lead balls love the video sir good job.
Well, Sean has spoken! And all I can do is 🙌🏼
Thanks my friend for your usual very well thought thru input!
It’s a small collection but.. working on it 😎
Very fun video. For me this pistol has too many steps to go through just too get two shots off........
Thank you so much!! 🙏🏽
Hi, Again you video quality is 2nd to none, however I am afraid this Derringer would be a good paper weight, very much a novelty, way to clunky for the little benefit, however it was very entertaining. Thanks
Oh man, thank you so so much! I really appreciate your kind words and your input on this! 🙏🏽
Spin off from brocock gun chargeable shells
Destiny collector's item
Ih think you kan reloade the paint cartiches. If you can get the reg pap of. The work like a cereinch. So you hafe to push the Plunder Beck Film the tonne the a liquid like paint. Or chili öil😅 and resiel te tip thif thin hotgloo.😊
P.s. sorry englisch is not my first laguage and im des lektick.
Cool.. Can i hv this small airgun here in jakarta..
Gak bisa mas! Maaf ya
@AirgunAlley 😭
It’s designed after the Bond Arms derringer
