Went solo fishing out of port everglades the day before hurricane Ian was suppose to hit the Florida coast. Trolled up and down at 100ft - 500ft came across a piece of bamboo, caught a Mahi that was a inch under size, after trolling passed the bamboo 4/5 times with no bites I decided to head offshore to about 900 - 1000ft came across a weed patch and barrel which I hooked up on 4 Mahi loosing 2 of them due to cut offs. Unfortunately I had to leave the fish biting due to the hurricane Ian coming in fast from the south. Luckily I got in safe with fish one the boat!
Leader line broke on both break offs using 50lb floracarbon... going to amp up the LB on the leader line from now on! learn from my mistakes fishing solo!
