Music has a more powerful influence than other forms of entertainment. You can turn off the tv, games, etc. But music is harder to shut out, it stays in your spirit. You listen to a song a week ago and a week later the song is still playing in your head. Movies, games and all don't have that effect. Music is like apps on your phone running in the background...it be playing in your head and you dont always realize it.
The repetition has a lot to do with it too. A person is going to listen to a song with a melody they like way more times than they will watch a movie or play a video game.

I'm 42 years old, I graduated high school in 1993 and I'm going to tell u the real. Something these Millennials don't understand is that most people from my age group who graduated high school from 1986-1997 didn't smoke crack it was the generation before that grew up when cocaine was considered the rich man's high back in the 1960's and 70's so when it became abundant in the ghetto people were looking at cocaine namely crack as finally being affordable so they went from sniffing to freebasing then rolling coke in a joint with weed and smoking it, that's what hooked the older generation that graduated high school or should have graduated high school from the 1970's through up to about 1985 that fucked with Crack. The generation who graduated from about 1986-1997 were more into selling crack and hustling, setting up organized crack selling gangs and what not. Yeah people from the 1986-1997 period smoked hella weed, a few may have snorted coke or snorted heroine but for the most part the classes of 1986-1997 were more about weed and alcohol mainly 40 ounce malt liquor and hustling drugs to older cats. Doing all these drugs was for the most part pretty foreign, people were trying to be the dealer and not the customer as being a customer was looked at as disgraceful. People were serious about their money back then but were even more serious abput blowing their money on material items they never dreamed of having back then too. People were too busy trying to be Customers of designer clothing companies, electronic stores, jewelry stores, car dealerships while trying to help out with bills around the house to be drug customers. I must add though that later in the 2000's some people from my era who didn't really fuck with dope started fuckin with ecstacy then pills and Meth but in the late 1980's through the 1990's doing dope was looked down upon and selling dope was respected
I'm from California with family in Oakland, Los Angeles and Chicago. I mean I know there had to be some people who smoked crack obviously but most people wanted to sell it or hung out with people who sold it. Nobody had no respect for no God Damn dope fiend back then but they were good for coming up on electronic shit, car stereos and tools.

The reason why people smoke crack in the 1980’s, is because they was told that cocaine was safe in the 1970’s! So if crack is a form of cocaine and you were told that cocaine was safe, then you’re gonna see a lot of people do those drugs!

No word of a lie. “I ain’t say shhh but this glock do?” 😂his words.
The *moral* line has been blurred along with the lines of whats for the public and what artists do in private. Everything isn't for the world to consume especially on a table as wobbly as Hip Hop now.
RA is dope but sometimes he does contradict himself. He talks about mumble rappers yet forgetting what he used to sound like up until 1999-2000 where you could barely understand half his verse. But he's also very correct in other aspects. I also think people tend to think he's talking about the 90's when he's talking about the 80's. I also think he forgets or didn't listen to a lot of music that wasn't from the east coast or he'd remember there were plenty of rappers glorifying drug use. Whether that's weed, pills, sizzurp lol.
At the end of the day the ppl choose to do drugs can’t blame the rappers. We all got our own minds. Either u weak or strong. Future not putting a gun to ya head and making u take drugs. He’s not a role model. Blame the parents.
You can't blame the rappers but you can blame the radio who only play the songs that promote it, aside from a few handpicked major artists. You can blame the labels and outlets who only promote these artists.
Riddle me this, if the music has no effect or influence emotionally and mentally on people, especially kids, then why do we listen to it? Why do we buy albums and attend concerts? Why do we obsess over celebrities? It does affect us, even down to the quantum level. Frequencies and tones heard in music can alter your level of consciousness and change your brainwaves (binural beats) and lyrical messages can be planted subconsciously. This isn't a conspiracy, it's scientific fact that music and television can alter your brainwaves and change your LOC.
Today they talk about taking drugs. Back then they talk about selling drugs. Not much of a difference in my opinion. You selling drugs don't make you better than the person taking them.
Kinda hypocritical of SOME older rappers to say something like 'rappers are promoting drugs today'. Yall were selling dope to your weaker brothers. Not much better either.
It wasn't the movie Scarface that influenced people in the hood to sell drugs is capitalism vs poverty you don't have anything but yet you're in still the richest country in the world that's what influences people to sell drugs not a movie or a video game or hip-hop music or even rap music today
he's right. but - here's a bomb for ya - what about weed? weed songs have been here forever.... sure it inspired a lot of minds to be creative, but how many lives got fucked up because of it? not to talk about the gateway it opened up to the more hardcore drugs....

Fresh whether we wanna believe it or not, rappers ARE role models. that's why they push bad messages
It don’t matter people get influenced no matter what. Can’t stop it. Parents can’t stop everything.
Lloyd Williams up to u if u wanna live the way u wanna live. Instead of pointing fingers own up. You only get manipulated if let it happen.

Today they talk about taking drugs. Back then they talk about selling drugs. Not much of a difference in my opinion. You selling drugs don't make you better than the person taking them.
BeeleeDatPleighboi 100 What's so funny?
Tafari The Tireless not much a difference?? Morally or literally?
@21stcenturyenigma the seller is the one ruining communities and people's lives.

Alcohol is more of a gateway drug than weed is which is also glorified. its not harmless but its not that bad.
