Played one of my greatest games today and used some of the tips you’ve suggested. No hero shots, aim at the center of the green for approach shots, stay away from bunkers and other hazards. I also got a birdie on the first hole. That felt good.
Hole 15, your 3rd shot (little lob over bunker). Didn't even need to see result to know it was pure. That confident motion through the ball is so pleasing.
Spectacular content! No messing about, amazing how you actually think your way to sub-par scores, it's great hearing your thought process. You saved a lot of strokes with putting here, not just the birdies but always getting the first putt close for an easy 2 putt - It would be good to see a video on how you do putting, the stroke, setup, reading the green, etc.
Got my first swingtweak today, honest review the response was quick, concise and to the point. Not overly complex and gave me clear direction on how to improve. Thanks for the recommendation @GolfSidekick
I played tennis in grade school and tennis related swing thoughts have really helped me. I’m right handed so if I think as if I’m playing tennis left-handed it all makes perfect sense.
Just got my first 68….using all the lessons you taught…….my swing tweaked a bit but it’s only little…..it was windy and a bit of rain…so conditions weren’t the best for this course next to the sea at Liverpool…….luckily the putt putt course is sheltered from the road side…..next week …blackpool
No idea if this will help but the first minute of your video resonated with me. Here it is playa. The ONLY reasons I use a shorter club off the tee is for the following reasons: Avoiding anything which could keep me from having a clear shot at the green on my second. That's priority number one. Will an offline driver put a tree in the way? Will it land me in a water hazard? Will it put me in a bunker that is too deep to hit out of onto the green? The only other reason I may pull a shorter club is because getting too close to a green may make accessing a pin too difficult. What I mean by that is if it is a front flag and I am sixty out, it's going to be more difficult to accessing the flag from there than if I have a full sand wedge to 8 iron away. Those shots land and stop. Sixty yarders role out unless you hit a ridiculous flop. Sooooo if there is no danger in using driver then you have to use it. Especially in links golf. Get that ball down the fairway son! You see the result of this yielded here.
That little pitch on 16...man those moments are make-or-break for my memory of a round. "Stay in it" is what you said. Gonna remember that line next time when there's a tough situash late.

Nice work man! I agree with you on links about the driver. I grew up playing links and if you hit it right down the middle it can still roll out to the rough. If you had confidence in your drives you would be easy scratch everywhere. You’re approach play and short game is top notch.

I love watching your videos Matty. We have a very similar game from tee to green but you are probably 10 to 12 shots better than me basically due to your short game. Mine is not nearly as good. So watching you I feel like I am seeing what my game could look like with a better short game and that gives me a lot of encouragement to practice that part of my game.
I've been working on breaking 90 for the first time in over a decade. I had been a mid-high 80s player. I dont know what changed. But im moving in the right direction
your putting is fantastic. seeing how many you sink makes me wonder if my putting is holding me back from breaking 80. I'm hitting fairways and greens but always 2 put, sometimes 3.
Have you ever looked at the Ping Crossover clubs? I HATE hybrids and fairway metals, but had far too much gap from driver to 4i. I picked this thing up in a 2i flavor and it is pure butter. Easy to hit, gets me out of trouble under trees, and is a joy to hit. I have the old G410 with my normal iron shaft installed and it is great off the deck and off the tee.
Matt! You hitting this 1i better than 75-85% of people will ever hit their driver! You need to hit this off the tee on any hole under 400 yds. The bogey on 4 was because you know you should be hitting the 1i! Love the content though, been following for the last 6 years

It overpowers your voice and I have to adjust the volume every time music comes on. I had to turn the volume way down and put on subtitles on. Wanted to give some positive feedback. Used to be really cheap but no one was booking. They hired a consultancy to find out why. Turns out Americans won’t book courses that cost less than $200 as they don’t see them as ‘good’. Now the place is loaded with fourballs of Americans all with caddies.
