Czinger 21C at Circuit of the Americas: Sets a New Production Lap Record

  • Inspired by Texas’ legendary performance car engineer Jim Hall and his extraordinarily innovative vehicles, Czinger Vehicles recently made a pilgrimage to Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in an act of American rebellion - leaving the previous production track record set by a McLaren P1 more than 6 seconds in the rear-view mirror. The record time was run on September 23rd at 9:50 am CT with driver Joel Miller piloting the car. The 2:11:33 lap time was recorded on multiple GPS systems.
The Czinger 21C is a road legal production vehicle with customer car deliveries starting 2023.
Full lap record video starts at 5:25

Got more to give. The first two corners looked a bit slow. Really interesting car! As a photographer I fell in love with the shot at 1:18. The perfect angle and light for the car. It looks massive, aggressive and slim like a manta ray on angel dust! (refering to James Brown´s car chase when he didn´t even notice beeing shot at.)

it is very clear that the driver, a master of his craft, is pushing the vehicle to approximately 80% of its limits. and at times, up to 90%.
approximately 80% of the time, the driver is pushing the vehicle to approximately 80 to 90% of the vehicles limits, through turns.
this driver was being extremely light on the throttle and controls, into, through, and out of turns.
with 100% maximum limits being achieved, this vehicle would have significantly reduced the world record far beyond that of the number achieved.
it almost appeared the vehicle was being broken in on these laps. and not pushed hard to any degree near the extreme this vehicle was entirely designed for.
i realize the tires are street tires. but it is very clear to see the vehicle is completely gripping the ground with the greatest of ease. even the tires are not being pushed beyond 80% of their capacity to maintain controllable traction.
a beautiful vehicle, a masterpiece of mechanical and electrical engineering.
i am very interested in seeing all telemetry numbers. including exhaust gas temperatures in real time, intake and exhaust pressures, and temperatures, all vector g forces.
including down pressure of vehicle from its aerodynamic design pressing down onto the vehicle at high speeds. including the forces on the wing and including side force on the rear wing through turns.
i would also like to know the air to fuel ratio. i have read of achievements at 2000 parts air to one part fuel. i imagine if this is a zero emissions vehicle, its powered by something incredible.
i’m interested in compression, piston design and shape, intake valve and exhaust valve geometry and size/diameter/shape.
if turbocharged, how much pressure, and how close or far away from the engine, is the turbocharger placed. is it dual or more, turbocharged (four?)
    i love it!
what is the fuel, what happens to the fuel before it enters the engine, does the fuel go through a magnetic field before entering the combustion chambers, thus reorganizing the fuel molecules to burn cleaner, and releasing greater potential from the fuels energy (study the nasa space shuttle which sends its fuel through a magnetic field to cause an electron spin thus increasing the fuels combustive power (btu) to more than 2.5 times its original btu.
this vehicle is a masterpiece i am very interested in studying.

This is mind blowing. Love the tech. I hope it becomes mainstream in the future. As for the driver, seems a little slow in executing the acceleration out of corners and slowing down on small turns in the road when there seems to be no need. In other words, not making quick decisions. I test ride motorcycles and love speed. The key is to have that gene of not being afraid of high speed and being a speed junky. Also, being able to anticipate greatly helps. Watching video again as I am typing this and just do not understand why driver is slowing down on the small turns.

I feel ya dude. I've spent tens of hours on COTA in homologated GT series/touring cars from BMW Z4 up through Vipers, McClarens, Jaguars, even the 2016 Ford GT, all digitally on Forza Motorsport 7 and always on sticky race tires. My times were about that fast or slightly better depending on the car and the race. Gotta agree that riding with this crew on this hot lap had me pressing the gas in my head much earlier coming out of corners than he was doing. It felt all wrong. Also, it seemed that he was easily coasting through sections that I'd be hard on the gas through. Without seeing his actual speed it's impossible to know how close he was to losing grip. Also, it seemed that when approaching corners, he would coast up for what seemed like an eternity before mashing the brakes late.(obviously, you can brake later if you're going slower) The cumulative feeling was that he was unfamiliar with the track, OR....maybe he was watching a clock and was under a mandate to "not be too fast". Having said that, none of my cars had the kind of power of the Czinger 21C, so top speeds won't be comparable. With the straight line acceleration and speed the 21C is capable of it would allow him to drive the technical sections much more pedantically and still get a 2:11. Just saying. lol.
Obviously they were on street tires so the G forces could not be as radical as on sticky racing slicks. Could it be that he was merely leaving some room for improvement and not letting ALL the cats out of the bag at once?

l long to have Max Lewis or Alonso give it a run, same parameters of course.
Also maybe or possibly, he knew he didn't have to push hard knowing he would beat the record easily. Just as you mention comparatively in GranTurismo you don't have to push the Tomahawk.X very hard because you don't have to, it will easily beat the snot out of anything in the game hands down !
Lastly he didn't wanna crash it under any circumstance, lol.
lf you felt he left a little bit on the table then he probably did. (with 5 seconds in hand over race distance, that's an easy.....
      5x50 + 5x6, 250+30,280/60,

That will inevitably transform the way we think inspiring each other in a conscious and unconscious world of tangible ideas. What a great American Dream. To be shared worldly is success. It's come a long way from the prototype- 2017 "the Divergent". I just saw the updates to the car after doing a Google search. Love everything about it but for one thing, the seatbelt. Allow it to lock in place when in use and to unlock to let down when showing off the car. Or, develop a seatbelt system that fits through a slot up the back of the seat from the floor. If I can think of it surely someone in-house could have thought of it. And, automatic doors and trunk for the price. Don't mind opening doors manually, but for the price? This car probably will not be a daily driver. Rather, a car for special occasions and to show it off at various car gatherings. Last, I'd say make 10 cars per year after the first 80 made. If I every get deep pockets to shell out 2 million, I may want one in about 10-20 years.
