  • While Public Enemy’s ‘Fight the Power’ started out as an anthem for racial affirmation, its influence soon expanded to become a symbol of resistance for other disenfranchised groups globally. Join host Dometi Pongo and artists like Vic Mensa, Fat Joe, and Big Freedia as we explore hip-hop’s unique ability to tackle thorny social and political issues, and channel people’s anger into action, influencing new generations of both artists and citizens.

Hip hop makes so many positive impacts. Especially the artists that constantly rap about drugs and killing.

It’s really strange that people who live in a country where they are the majority and by extention the standard for most things are so put off when they are not the center of the story. Talking about identity and communities that are not white is not promoting division. It’s showing you the parts of America you don’t know or don’t live in but still matter. The segment on First Nation communities should be eye opening for most viewers. And for my friends pointing out what hip hop has not accomplished yet, thanks for your clear eyed realism. Our work is not done and hip hop is not just about the power of the music... let’s see what we do in the next 40 years.

The thing that I have always loved about Rap and Hiphop is the content of the lyrics.
You get so much more with Rap and Hip Hop because they are not focusing on singing every word.

Time to Unite! I’m so sick of the division in our country! The enemy is the corrupt politicians and the corrupt media! God will win one way or another! 🙏🙏🙏
