Oh, I've wanted to see a demo for years!! I'm lucky to own two orignal pieces from Reina, one was the second in the lotus series she did and it moved me to my core in a way a painting has never done! The second was a surprise commission my husband ordered, which included koru for each of my family members and sacred geometry. Her work brightens my home and our lives daily, and I am so grateful to have found her what, five years ago? Love you, Reina! 😘
Thank you Graeme, Sophie and the awesome team! Just watched it thru, and whilst being 'super weird' watching oneself lol, youve done a great job of putting it all together , looks fab!
yes it has definitely been a slow climb Denise and I think we have one of the best channels, just not the numbers we should have. We go to air in Britain next week so that should help with awareness, Graeme
Great and amazing work Reina I really enjoyed watching you , can i ask about the chulkyou used in the beginning for the background ,because later you used the acrylic highlight marker for the details.
Gorgeous work! So spiritual and zen. What was the name of those flat paint brushes from China? Always curious about what artists use to get such a soft blend.
hi there , yes, thats the one,... the come in singles or packs.. i got the six pack, actually just ordered a second pack today, as I love them so much! (not too bad pricing either!)
great work. just wondering if non indigenous kiwis have the same issues as non indigenous australians doing similar designs and techniques as the indigenous peoples of their country?
Hi there, thank you. I hear what you are saying, :) and there does seem be a fine line of 'copying traditional native art' (I respect that for many reasons), and being influenced by it. I am the latter, mine is more a fusion of many cultures and what comes out of my head. I have Maori (and other cultures) in my family, so I grew up with strong native influences, however I have purposely never closely studied Maori art, as I don't want to subconsciously recreate it, I want to do my own thing :)
Reina, your work is brilliant and beautiful. I so enjoyed watching the show. Can you please repeat the name of the flat brushes you use. I saw a request for the name but couldn't find your response. Thank you so much.
Hi Shelia, thank you so much! they are inexpensive brushes from Aliexpress: 'Bogelinuo Nylon Flat head painting brush'. I was pleasantly surprised, took a risk buying thinking they would last 5 mins, but they are 8 months on and going strong! I just bought my second 6 piece pack. - Reina.
