    Love this! The "always following through" point is something I've always done, and it helped me realize all the possible tricks that I stumbled upon on accident. For me I thought of the following: consistency - practice often, resiliency - don't give up when something is difficult, intentionality - practice with intent and focus, and lastly eggality - eat lots of eggs.

    You should make a fingerboard collection vid talking about the story behind the setup and overall just going deep into your collection. Thanks for the video, the first part made me learn kickflip back tail

    I'm returning to fingerboarding after 10 years, and these tips are so good. Not only am I slowly remembering how to do some stuff, landing tricks I've not even landed before 10 years ago. The tip for learning how to do tricks from different hand positions makes a world of difference especially when doing tricks on obstacles. Thank you Mike!

      Exactly! I feel like "accidentally" landing into different grinds and playing them off really helps. I've been trying so hard to get into a perfect 50-50 from a fliptrick, that I would give up if it landed in anything different. Bad practice on my part. Now that I'm taking Mike's (and your) advice, I've gotten the feeling of many different grinds and can do them quicker than learning them on their own if that makes sense.

  • @orbitfb
    @orbitfb 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Yes!!! if you're practicing a trick or trick to grind and get close/sketchy just adjust your fingers and complete it to get used to the feeling of truly doing it

  • @Bb186fo

    One thing I do, in fingerboarding, skating and most things really, is since I have OCD pretty badly I try to use it to my advantage and make things into little games. For example, ill have to land 6 kickflips in a row, if I miss any I start over, when I do them all i move on to the next set of tricks. It can be in any fashion, kf/fakie kf/nollie flip/switch flip all in a row. It can get intense and even frustrating at times but the key is repetition and getting the muscle memory. Learn the basics til you can do them in your sleep, they open the door to everything else. Lastly, don't always look at things as a whole at first, even if it seems obvious sometimes breaking things down can unlock things. You can bs 180? You can kickflip? Well when you pop that bs 180, flip your kf. Keep making small adjustments in foo positioning, weight and balance until it works. Now you can Bs flip. Practice, PATIENCE and A LOT of repitition is the key to learning literally anything. Everything he said is spot on as well! Good stuff!

  • @NoxBruh
    @NoxBruh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Hey Mike! The "Committing to your tricks" or "following through with them" advice is very very helpful! I would always just "give up" after I felt that the trick didn't feel right, but now I do my best to get my fingers into position for landing said trick, and it's helped a ton!
    An example: I'm learning flips into grinds and working on my accuracy. I'm trying to land into 50-50, but whenever I didn't land perfectly, I would give up. Now taking your advice into account, I've gotten the feeling of landing into many different grinds, just on "accident". Just landed a kickflip-feeble, front shuv out. (Pretty simple, but I'm a beginner, cut me some slack 😂)

    I did like this video. I really wanna get my own fingerboard & start doing this myself. Looks like a lot of fun, & something I can actually do. I actually tried to get into regular skateboarding. But I wasn't very physically active already. So I gave up on it immediately. But, I'm really glad I found you can do fingerboarding. It's something I can actually do too. :)

    I started fingerboarding since 2014 and I found Mike schneider, ever since I continue fingerboarding and I've never had companion to have to sesh with, it get boring but this month I saw a fingerboard event and it is my first joining in sadly I'm late at registration so I didn't get to join Game of skate but fingerboard run is Available I got 3rd place and I got best in kickflip. It feels good to win and I'm stoked again to fingerboard I realize that I cannot leave fingerboarding. Mike schneider is my Motivation because he is my childhood Idol. I always Love your vids mike! I hope I will meet you soon! Shout to my fellow fingerboarders in the Philippines!

    I've always tried out new trick in a sitting position and I put the fingerboard on the side of my leg to the top...helps you feel out the process of the trick from forming it to follow through to catch and land. Also with grinds and slides it helps to feel it out on the rail or ledge first meaning how it's going to feel once on the OBSTACLE and follow through and coming out of said grind or slide

    Mike, I have been following you since you were a little kid. I have DREAMS were I come and visit you and go thru your fingerboard stuff and you saying that I can take what I want because you have so much stuff. My english is terrible and is super late but I just wanting to write this because every time I see that you have uploaded I think of that. You are a cool dude, thank you for the dedication!
    And by the way, I had a fingerboard years ago that was white with the FF symbol being the rasta colors I think. I think it was a collab with "pop" decks or something like that. I remember it was a 29 mm deck and it was really mellow. I think it had a paper logo. It was one of my favorite decks, I actually lost it a few years back. Does anyone know what deck I am talking about?
    Im trying to find a similar deck, it was SO good. Please, if anyone know just reply!
    Thanks a lot!
    luv
