    Hallelujah!!! Thank you for this beautiful message!!! 🥹🕊️I was convicted to stop listening to secular music. But that was my own conviction. Secular music doesn’t fill me. It actually brings my spirit down and I just cannot go back to the dark place Jesus pulled me out of.

    Tbh I used to love secular music. Recently tho I felt convicted from it since the lyrics really weren’t something I felt a Christian should be listening too. I gave it up and haven’t looked back since. Some great Christian artists are Hulvey, Zauntee, Kieran the light and Mtm Isaiah✌🏽

      @@mikethetraveler Thank you for your post and how interesting you actually worked in the industry. I've heard there are spells put on songs before they are released. Is this true? i do understand Lucifer was in charge of music in heaven and actually had instruments built in him. Interesting how he took what was once holy (music/sex) and corrupted it. When I think about it, none of the music I used to listen to was good or clean. I grew up in the 80's and listened to a lot of Prince, Madonna, etc.

    Thanks for your word of wisdom! I fully agree with what you have said in this video. I grew up in the USSR in a baptist family and in that time christians in our country had the same beliefs that children of God should avoid non-christian music/songs because through them devil attacks us. And I believe that music is powerful and that is why Saul called David to play for him when the evil spirit tormented him and when David played his harp then Saul felt better. Also Paul tells us in Ephes.5:18-20 "Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." So i Belive that if through christian hymns/ psalms/songs we get filled with Spirit, we get to know God better, we encourage each other, we glorify God then oposite happens when we listen to ungodly songs and through them evil spirit fill our hearts and life. Listening to non-Christian songs/ music let ungodly thoughts, ideas and beliefs fill our hearts. And what fills our hearts results our lifestyle, our thoughts, language and our acts.

      I know what people mean when they say religion vs relationship. But something that stays in my heart is that we end up missing some pieces in saying that. Actually Christianity is the only true religion if it’s kept with the right spirit. All the others are false religions and people in the church can be caught up in empty religion or legalism. All that is true. But really true religion is all the ways that we respond to God and how we treat others. Christianity is the only religion centered on a relationship. That’s the difference. Our religion is our worship, prayer, giving, communion, gathering together, basically everything in Acts 2:42. It’s how we reflect our gratitude and love because of Jesus. We need to not be afraid of calling that religion. James told us that pure religion is feeding orphans and widows and keeping ourselves free from the destructive things in the world. The Oxford definition for religion is: “the belief in and worship of a superhuman power or powers, especially a God or gods; a particular system of faith and worship; a pursuit or interest to which someone ascribes supreme importance.” To me that just sounds like how we live our lives in faith and love. I believe that words are important and need to be preserved so we don’t lose understanding that the generations before us had. I do agree with your comment though. God bless you!

    • @Genesistejada7
      @Genesistejada7 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@josephjimorris I agree with you bro! Jesus is the only truth, the only way and the only life! This makes it clear that there is no other truer and more satisfactory way to reach the Father than him. You and I understand that religion has recently taken different directions due to people's misperception, and although we know that ours is the true one, they don't really understand that. Since that word (religion) many have distorted and reduced to "belief system made by men." And because of that, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we must know how to lead this generation to the holiness of God without falling into legalistic barriers but also without losing ourselves in today's debauchery! It is a real challenge, and not many are prepared for this conversation, because there is a great lack of knowledge and I assure you that if we went back to the Bible, these things would be clear to everyone! But I know that in this time of Revival, the Holy Spirit will be poured out on all flesh and this will bring us his Wisdom, I am glad to see that God is showing his revelation to many (like you) about that phrase "religion vs relationship", thank you for your important answer, God bless you bro!

    Listening to secular music is more of a conviction issue not a heaven or hell issue and it’s not a salvation issue and it’s the same with movies like horror movies and even Disney. I think of Roman’s 14 because Roman’s 14 talks about personal convictions, making someone stumble being a sin, violating your conscience, passing judgement and legalism. Now there are Christian’s like me that do listen to secular music and there are Christian’s that believes it’s a sin to listen to secular music. Now there are Christian’s that say that they don’t listen to music but they sing happy birthday and the happy birthday song is secular.
    I like Christian music however there are certain Christian music subgenres that I don’t like and that’s fine too.

I now understand that it's really simple in that the music I listened to did not glorify God so knowing that because the Holy Spirit told me to stop ALL secular music and I do miss a bunch of music I used to listen to but I know realize it's all demonic (even if ppl don't believe it). Ross we could not be more on the same page! 2nd Corinthians 5:17 says anyone who is in Christ is a new creation, the old things have passed away behold all things have become new! So we're born-again new creations in Christ. Who else has the words of eternal life except Jesus! No legalism but I have a conviction not to listen to it as well only worship music therefore now there is no condemnation for those that are in Christ Jesus! Duffy said sometimes listening to secular music brings me back to times I don't care to revisit! Besides all that worship music is awesome! Jeremy Camp, Casting Crowns, MercyMe, Crowder, Third Day and the list goes on! While driving or riding my bike I listen to worship music and sing along, sometimes get strange looks but I tell people I'm singing to the Lord! Love you all!

    I don't think it's legalistic at all to wanna draw closer to the Lord, and if it's not for Him then what's the point? 😇 Worldly music appeals to the flesh and soul (emotion). That's why we need to worship in spirit and in truth. I wanna be in the inner court, and enter the holy of holies.
    As a worshipper, this is important to me personally because I want the things of God to flow out of me when I praise Him. What you spend time on/fill yourself with, is what's gonna come out.

    Another good passage here could be 1 Corinthians 10: 23-31 speaking of a believer's freedom. Especially the first two verses: “23 I have the right to do anything,” you say-but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”-but not everything is constructive. 24 No one should seek their own good, but the good of others." (NIV). We can listen to whatever, but it's not always good for us. Secular music tends to be about sinful topics. Being constantly bombarded by topics that are anti-God will cause us to let our guard down and then we stumble. When we are living in sin it's harder for us to live the way God wants us to live which in turn causes us to live more for our own pleasure than the good of others.

    Funny I was just thinking about this… I haven’t really listened to secular music in about 3 years. Not because I was ever convicted about it, but because whenever I listen to something I used to, even if it was a song that didn’t have any emotional ties to it, or even a new song I don’t know but the music just sounds so familiar, and not even explicit or depressing songs- anything secular- it sparks old ways of thinking and old thought patterns and I don’t EVER want to fill my mind with that again. It’s almost scary how those thoughts can come back so easily and how powerful music is over the mind.
    Also why would I waste my time listening to anything except something that honors Jesus :)

    I depends on the song...Music is not wrong. Even though the highest use of music is to point to God, it is wrong to say all secular music is wrong. If a song has bad words, has a bad philosophy, then it would be wrong. But since Scripture deals with all of life, so can music and art in general. For example, since love, good and proper love between a man and woman, is God's plan for life, a good love song Luke "I will always love you" is not wrong. So it depends on the song.

    Ill listen to some that isn’t crazy like AJR and LANY. There’s a lot of fire Christian music though. Mark barlow, John Keith, nobigdyl, Hulvey, antoine bradford, and montell fishes older music. I wouldn’t say ALL music that isn’t overtly about Christ is bad, but it’s super important to be discerning bc what we listen to and watch matters so much. Got rid of all of my rap that isn’t Christian rap tho bc none of that is even remotely okay to listen to anymore. First thing he changed was my way of speaking so I don’t listen to songs that curse all the time or push sexual messages. I gotta get rid of listening to Daniel Caesar and all the other R&B stuff though it does push me to lust. I’m still learning and as the way becomes narrower as I get to where He called me (online ministry) those things will dissipate and I will no longer enjoy it, and it’ll be easier to get rid of

      Hello. When you listen to a song read the lyrics and research the artist and see what other songs they put out and what are the lyrics. You'll know if that music is honoring God or satan. Music is extremely powerful and the Bible tells us to be careful what we watch and listen to. Guard our ears and eyes, etc. So if you like some secular music read the lyrics. Most Christian music and hymns are meant to glorify God. Classical music is also a good option.
