thank you again for this video! I took my practical on Thursday and PASSED!! - I’m in Tennessee & took it at the Nashville location. One thing I’d like to say is if you take your practical in Nashville, use large gift bags lined with trash bags for your trash & soiled linens (you won’t be able to tape anything to the desk) They only have 1 command hook for you to put all your bags on so the gift bags make it easier bc they’ll be standing upright. Also, I had a ‘to be sanitized’ box that I used to put my implements in once I was done with them. Lastly, practice the nail form with gloves on bc I struggled with this part due to it sticking to my gloves so . I wish you all the best of luck 💕💕

For anyone in the state of KENTUCKY following this video: I wanted to let you know that this video will help you tremendously! I passed my exam this week using this video. I also wanted to let you know a few of the differences for our particular state. #1: we didn't have 2 tables, just the 1 you will be working on. #2: they ask that you bring DISPOSABLE absorbent towels to work on ( so not the washable hand towels she used unless you are going to dispose of them each time and have new ones for each part of the exam). #3: The biggest key factor to the acrylic kit is that your ODORLESS monomer is SEALED. #4: you are supposed to bring your own bottle of water for the manicure portion of the exam. I didn't know this, so I didn't bring any, but they told me to just go through the motions. So you can do either, it didn't hurt me, I still passed, but yeah, just a little FYI. #5: we didn't have a hook for our trash bag (you only need the one). I used a brown paper bag lined with a trash bag, and marked on the outside 'single use'.. so it would stand on its own, and it worked perfectly. I did however bring two bags just in case, but didn't use the second one since there was only 1 table. #6: you need to wear non white, solid colored scrubs, top and bottom, with no labels or identifying stitching. #7: you need to have 2 forms of ID and NO electronics of ANY kind (phones and smart watches need to be left in your vehicle). Everything else in this video was spot on for our state. Watch this and practice and you will do amazing!! @neihku4303 the container size did matter. Look on the state board of cosmetology and they give you the exact dimensions...it just can't be over a certain size. And if I remember correctly, it can't have a logo on it. Which I labeled the outside of mine with "sterilized" or "disinfected" something to that effect, so you can actually cover up a small logo with your sign saying your items are clean (they don't look under it or anything).
I some-what followed this video through and I got a 90 out of 70. the trash bag thing was too much ,so instead all I did was grab two paper bags from Publix and lined it with a clear trash bag inside. that's it !!! everything else is on point remember every step as shown on the video !!!! hope this help and good luck y'all !!!!

Hello everyone that are watching the video or have watched the video. I just wanted to hop on here to answer a few questions that Ive seen been asked by a few people in the comments. 1. First of my apologies, I meant this practical EXAM is universal not the license. Which means if you move to another state you will need to apply and do the application to get it switched to the state you moved to. You will NOT have to take the exams again because the exam was universal you just need to do the application. 2. Each state is slightly different, for example the testing site some has 2 tables some has 1. Some let you get water at the site some like you to have a container labeled water for the manicure portion. Some sites like the wipes some like for you to have a spray bottle labeled EPA disinfectant. You can use either one just clean slowly take your time. They don’t like it if your too fast at cleaning/ disinfecting. 3. You can take both exams at home on your laptop there is an option for that. For the theory I would recommend that if the testing site is too far for you since it’s on the computer anyway at the site. Although for the practical it’s best to take at the testing site because there will be other students taking it with you so you won’t be as nervous or scared. Plus the proctors are not watching just you.

I’m sorry to hear that but your school should have better prepared you for your exam. What I understand as an instructor every state practical portion should be the same. We here in TN do not do blood exposure or nail polish. There are things you can do to be neater or more clean. I’m sorry hun your school should of helped you.
The information comes from state board informing all instructors that's the reason why it's called a national exam. So if you are to move to another state you just need to apply to transfer your license to that state without having to retake the exam. I am sorry if thats not the case. Every state should have a candidate information document with information of exactly what is on the practical exam. Your school should of given you that as well.

I am taking my practical in South Carolina because they require national testing. I have been a nail tech in RI, FL since 2000; after being out of school for so long this is very helpful ~ thank you! Do you need to keep gloves on at all times and sanitize gloves now? Do you pretend to wash hands in between each portion?
if wearing gloves gets in the way, when you're doing the nail form, then you can take your gloves off but just remember to sanitize really well. You don't have to use gloves, but I just thought you need as many points as you can so start out wearing gloves and then if it gets in the way, you can take it off. also when you sanitize work area make sure you take your time and not do it too quickly. They will take points off if you're too fast.
