Lol harsh….you have to understand there are tons of mom pop who don’t know lot about cars/EVs but are Toyota / Lexus loyalist built over the last decades due to their quality and reliability. They will buy this on the brand name alone and the fact it’s deigned like a regular car (those same people will never look at a Tesla). Also the fact it’s the largest EV available at this price for those who needs space for the second row. The issue isn’t who will buy it, it’s how many lexus can actually make. It’s a good transition suv to get the regular folks moved over to EVs, like my mom who will be completely lost in a tesla but is instantly familiar with this lexus interior
If you love Lexus and you're affiliated with, buy this. But I guarantee, none of this car are better than other EVs even from non-luxury brand like Ioniq5 or EV6. Litterally, nothing is better than them technically.

Yeah and even on a good day California's electricity prices have made me just opt for the RX 350h. PGE's electricity is roughly 40 cents per kWh meaning you're spending about 13 cents/mile for electricity. Roughly the same as an RX 350h. You basically have to get solar panels to charge your EV but if you charge at night it means you'll need a Power Wall to save the juice from the day.
Let’s compare the quality and liability. I am sure you can’t get one in your list that is better than Lexus. They may be looked cheaper than competitors out there but what people need is the liability.

Lexus continues to release sub par and overpriced vehicles relying on the reliability factor. I mean let’s be honest here, first the guys have the option of going to these events. All journalists do. What they get in return is not. Only review a car, but also stay in high end hotels and free food. Wouldn’t you like that? And if you were to receive a random invitation from Toyota/Lexus, you’d probably go.
In the scheme of things, these events are extremely inexpensive advertising. The manufacture controls the narrative via information embargo. If Drew or Mason say anything extremely 'unhelpful' to future sales of these products, they will be banned from future events. Toyota has gotten extremely good at cost saving to maximize profit. The architecture underpinning this vehicle is not 100% electric bespoke. In fact, a story was recently published indicating Toyota did not buy a Tesla 3 or Y to do a competitive tear-down (as most manufactures do) until recently. In doing so, it is reported they realized the existing Toyota Ev architecture would not be competitive with the Tesla equivalents on many key metrics (as you allude to). Toyota/Lexus is now going to develop a ground-up dedicated EV architecture we will not see in a new product until 2026/2027. If this story is true, it supports why we have a change in CEO at Toyota and is a poor reflection on the company. This is a leadership and cultural problem and if true will hurt long-term EV sales. Toyota and Honda are no longer technology innovation leaders but overly cautious. Former Toyota owner.
