Don 1 turn New Genesis has to be the worst move you can possibly make. If it is not the worst, it is tied for the worst. I'm always amazed when I see people do it.

Why would you consider it such a bad move? Trying to learn the deck myself atm.

@@Cyberjin777 The reason it is a terrible move is because it is totally unnecessary. That is to say, there is no benefit to playing it on your Don!! one turn versus your Don!! 3 turn (I wouldn't recommend ever playing it on your Don!! 3 turn either, but there can be possible (although very unlikely scenarios) where it is 'the right' play).
New Genesis can only grab Film cards (minus New Genesis itself) and there are currently no 1 cost film cards. So, when you play it on your Don!! 1 turn, there is nothing you can grab that will have an immediate effect. Your opponent can't attack on their Don!! 2 turn, so even grabbing something as counter is pointless.
It is better to save it for later when you a target/goal in mind. For example, maybe an I'm Invincible or Backlight would win you the game. You'll wish you had the New Genesis to try and fish for it. If you don't get what you're hoping for, then you can grab whatever is best for your current situation.
On your Don!! 7 turn, for instance, if you don't have a Luffy, you would probably want to play it then, too. You can even play it in the late-late game just in hopes of getting a 2k.
Ultimately, the point is that you want to use New Genesis when you have a target in mind that will have an impact on the game. Just playing because you have it is not a good plan (in my humble opinion).

Yup! Learned this during my first locals using Uta when a more experienced player pointed it out. In addition to what you said, you also don’t want to be using New Genesis to prevent bottom decking important cards that you might draw into during your early turns. Eg. Kid, brook, Nami, Luffy 2k counter etc. Need to give yourself an opportunity to draw into them at start of turn and Leader effect first

After listening to your reasoning I think it makes a lot of sense and I will be playing it that way in future games 👍🏽

he could have kata'd the kid, used the remaining don to use amaru to rest a blocker, and he could have swung out lmao

@@hughmccauley6810 The kid got way to much value. He should have kata'd it early. But, if he did kata'd the kid, on that last turn it would go to life. He still had the luffy blocker out and the 2c blocker. Had to get in 5 swings for the win with the Uta player having 9 cards in hand. I'd probably try to kata'd the kid and do a field clear, but his hand was small. Probably would have lost even doing that.
