That piece of bread struggling to escape the vacuum was the funniest thing I've seen all morning! But I had said to myself as soon as you set it up, "you can't test something like that without putting it through a Toddler Test" - so that was actually a great idea.
I always wanted a "toe kick" vacuum that some houses with central vacuums have. I bought a product similar to the EyeVac that worked well with my white bristle brooms until the electric eye broke. However, there is a manual button at the bottom where you can tap with the toe of your foot or broom to activate the vacuum. Mine doesn't seem to leave any debris behind. It's pretty powerful. I would recommend not being so slow and gentle while sweeping into the vac and sweep toward the side with the suction hole. Also, don't wait until the bin gets full. Empty the vacuum after a few good uses and make sure to clean/unblock the filter. That will keep the vacuum working like new. You know that "line" of dirt you can't seem to get up when you use a dust pan? That problem will be gone with this (or similar) product. By the way, these vacuums are light enough to move from room to room. I've also seen them at barber shops.
Leslie Bartiromo, how did you know that the sensor is broken. My automatic sensor no longer works. They had said it could just be that I need to clean it off but that has not made a difference. Wondering about yours.
@@diannebennett8200 I tried cleaning the sensor. I've done everything I could short of disassembling the vacuum. Using the toe kick button works well for me.
I have one in my sewing room and love it. And when I “jam” my broom in to pick up stray bits, it also cleans any threads or tiny fabric scraps off of my broom.
Salons have been useing these for a few years now. My aunt is a pet groomer and she has one on the corner of room. It definitely has a place in those businesses! That may be the only case when this is needed. But, I can do better with a Harbor Freight shop vac and some duct tape and have $70 left over. So... It's overpriced.
I was hoping that you would try broken glass. Whenever we break a glass, the dust pan just doesn't do it and we have to bring out the vacuum. If you ever do an update, I hope you can add this test.
Main drawback i see is that the suction is only on the left side which leaves stuff behind on the right/ or stops it from getting it all at once like u said making u feel like u have to kinda jam it in there.

This is actually a really good product for people with back problems that can't handle a dustpan. You could say "just use a vacuum" but for old people, a vacuum is a heavy item that needs to be plugged in and is awkward to use. My grandparents were well in their 90s while they still lived at home and only used a broom to clean up stuff - picking it up was by far the hardest part for them. Of course, one big problem you have with this device, is the range. If you make a mess at one side of the house, are you going to be sweeping it all the way to the other side where this device is?
I bought this as an “open box return” from a big box store for $20. It was still wrapped up like new inside so I figured it was worth a gamble. Gonna use it the for dog hair mostly, thanks for the review! Will buy a new lighter broom now 😆
This is something that I would definitely consider for my grandma. We have a husky in the house and that leaves a lot of hair flying on the floor (we call them tumble tufts). This would definitely make sweeping a little bit easier
I see the application for the elderly and those with phisical limitations. Other then that at $114 there is no logical reason to buy. To remind every one dustpans with a long handle attached. Are still a thing.

Hello there so I own one for about a year now and I love it, the trick is I move my Pile near the front and then I activate it with the broom first and then push the pile towards the suction and it works a ton better
Best invention ever. Or one of the best. I get dizzy when I bend over and if I do it multiple times (like you would for cleaning) I get a bad headache. So having this instead of using a tray thing to pick up the sweeping junk really helps. And it's a hilarious when the cat accidently set it off.
You could have bought and old fashioned dust pan that had a broom like handle. So no bending over. It might have been a cheaper solution to your problem.
At that price-point, you're about 1/3 of the way there to getting one of the Roomba knockoff vaccums, which does most of the work for you. Also for that cost, you could probably get a vacuum that handles wooden and tile floors. I can see this being targeted toward those who can't bend down with a regular dustpan but I think there are better solutions out there (and those saying they have long-handled dustpans, that's also pretty perfect, like what janitors use).

Think the biggest flaw in that thing is that the opening at the bottom should be wider. Cuz it’s just one hole 🕳 on the left side which is why there’s always crap left behind on the right side. The shoulda made it the width of the bottom instead of just a hole on one side.
So I guess it's meant to be like those houses that used to have vacuum ports built into each room, and you could just sweep everything into that port. I just feel like you'd need to put one of these in every room to make it worth while. If you're going to move it around, you might as well use a regular pan. Maybe it's still worth having one in the kitchen, if you don't mind blowing some money.
Hair salons use these type of trash cans. I've never seen this particular model, but from what I could find online, it looks like this is the main brand (possibly only) that makes these bins. They've got regular black ones that I've seen in salons. Makes me wonder if the company has a restrictive trademark on the mechanics. Very interesting.
I have had one for about 3 years now. We named our Rosie the Robot! we purchased it at a local Goodwill store for 20.00. I absolutely love mine. I keep it in the Kitchen/dining area which is perfect for when we have small get togethers with a lot of snacks being served and of coarse dropped on the floor.
I got one at a garage sale for $3!!! I love mine saw one at a hair dressers and thaught it ws cool, i have a small kitchen and love it for quick clean ups
It's a cool product and I see where it could be helpful for the elderly or someone with health issues. Most of us could use a little stretching down with a dust pan. My $5 dust pan doesn't leave as much behind and it makes no noise so I can sweep while others sleep. Thanks for the review and the bread laugh!
Yeah, kitty litter is like glitter. I have a rough time getting all of it vacuumed up even with a traditional Shark and Dyson vacuum. Takes some finagling to get it all. Litter should get some leeway.
I have an older model that I bought on HSN. It came with a broom. The broom is a pain, but the Eyevac is awesome! I love mine! Also, I think I only paid 70 dollars for it. It’s worth every penny to me.
I live in a multipet household with lots of fur. The best thing I like about mine is than when you get the dreaded fur build-up on your broom. You can just sweep your broom across the bottom and it cleans all off!
I love my eye vac. They were invented and used for beauty shops, as a way to keep hair swept up easily. I got one because my dogs shed a lot. My sister's Husky was a fur blizzard so I got her one too. I found that using one of those rubber squeegee brooms works best with it for dog hair on wood floors or vinyl. That way no hair gets stuck to the broom.
We have one and we love it! I can't bend to use a dustpan so this allows me to sweep easily! We keep it next to the litter box so we can quickly sweep up cat litter. I wish we could afford one for every room!
We've had one for 3 years now and love it. Only scary thing is when a bug crawls into the sensor range and the thing goes off in the middle of the night.
I've had 4 back surgeries. I can sweep fairly easily. However, bending over to do the dust pan. Is often the challenge for me. This would help my situation. The price is a bit steep though.
Great motivation to sweep more often. Great for someone who has a bad back or use of one arm only. Might make a great gift for someone with those issues.
I got my mom one for 50.00 it was on sale (different brand) and its worked amazingly. My mom hasn't stopped using it she loves it. She sets it up in one spot, sweeps whole house to that spot and it sucks it all up no problem. Best 50 bucks I spent.
I love these. I use it at my barbershop. Specifically I have the pet version. I’ve used most of them and they work great. Holds a lot considering how small the canister is.
looks like they could have used a higher quality sensor for that price or the cheap fix a couple LEDs on the front to create more light so that censor could read black brooms
This seems like a good idea, but the execution is not that great. It reminds me of a dust extractor sweep for the wood shop. Only the sweep attachment works better. Also, you don't need to have the vacuum in the same area. I bet you could make an auto on/off with an arduino and put it into the walls of the house like one of those high end vacuums. If the vacuum itself was in the closet or basement, it would be so much quieter.
This makes no sense to me. No carpet in my house which means sweeping in every room. I’d have to carry this thing from room to room and plug it in each room. Several people noted not being able to bend over using a dust pan. I have a dustpan with a long handle. I don’t have to bend over. And my dustpan doesn’t leave stuff on the floor like the vac does. And to make it worse - $114 for something that’s just going to be a pain for me? Nope.
My dad kept bugging me to order this for him because his barber had one. I resisted for a while but he kept hounding me. Needless to say it’s never been used beyond testing it the first day. It works fine, but as I told him from the start, it’s useless because it’s stationary. You’ll need to sweep debris across the whole room to get to where you set it up. Maybe it’s more useful if you have it close to/within an area that gets debris on the floor often like a craft area.
We have this at work and I "wipe" the broom bristles across the opening to let it clean the debris off the very bottom of the broom. This also makes sure you get most of the debris near the suction opening.
I thought this would be a good gift for my mom but then I realized that she already vaccums everything. Having to sweep a pile to a specific spot just adds more work.
We have something like this built into the baseboard of each room of our house. It's connected to our central vacuum, ours isn't automatic though. Each one has switch you turn on with your foot.
LOL! My robot vac dragged kitty litter all around my house and wouldn't pick up a few pieces of lint on my area rug even after 5 runs. I liked the automatic empty into the base but a regular vacuum cleaned up the kitty litter and area rug in less than 2 minutes. I ended up getting rid of the robot vac.
I have a white one sitting between my kitchen and living room. It's pretty useful for if you have a pet or you spill flour and sugar on the floor. It's just very convenient because it takes ten seconds to clean something off the floor instead of digging for my other dustpan in the laundry room, and having to empty the pan, and having to dump it in the trash, and dust floating everywhere. While it's more of an automatic dustpan than an automatic vaccuum like roomba, roombas are awful.
Having a disability that makes cleaning excruciating, this looks so amazingly useful! Thank you for bringing it to attention. I'll certainly be getting one (scratch that, I have now ordered one). I always feel humiliated that my floors are always filthy, I have to wear slippers in my kitchen. The times that I do break my back to sweep, my sibling and dad will walk right in wearing their filthy boots. The dust pan is my biggest hurdle. I got a swiffer vacuum a while back, but it just doesn't have the power to get much, fills up fast, the battery drains way too fast, and it takes forever for the battery to charge. And regular vacuums are too bulky to move around my kitchen, and are just too heavy for me.

I’ve just gotta say that I’m still giggling way too hard over the flapping bread looking like the EyeVac was giving you a raspberry. 🤣🤣🤣 That said, I’d love something like this for when I sweep. I hate bending over to try to get everything in the dustpan and still have crap on the floor. And it looks like it’s best to aim for the left side of the unit to avoid the leftover bits underneath. Okay, I’m still giggling. That flapping bread really needs to be made into a gif. 😂😂😂
didn't read all of the comments, so this might be out there somewhere, but i use a swiffer rather than a broom to collect my 3 dogs' hair then push it up to the eye vac. works great and then i just leave the swiffer cloth on the swiffer for the next time. i love it. have had one for several years. makes a box of cloths last quite a long time!
I feel that what it left behind was primarily due to the fact that the opening that sucks up debris is over on one side so anything on the right, if we're looking from the front where you sweep towards, doesn't fall into the line of suction. what you swept to wards the taller, left side, and larger opening seemed to get picked. I do agree the price is a bit much.
I like staying up with technology in my home. I think it would be a great addition, but I’m looking to see what other vacuum dust pans will be coming out.
I'd suggest a dustpan with the handle instead... much cheaper. Or for the cost of this thing you could even get one of the cheaper 'robot vacuums'. Mine works a charm and cost about the same price as this... (of course you'd have to bend over to pick it up to empty it, but you have to bend over to empty this electronic dustpan too)
well, this looks like a solution looking for a problem. I'll stick to using a shop vac (less than 1/2 the cost and it picks up wet spills as well) as a dust pan.
This looks similar in concept to what I’ve been seeing in newer RVs with hard floors. Maybe there’s a central vac system like it too. Interestingly, the offset port on this cheaper unit seems to impact how well it performs and the “pro” version might perform much better just with the inlet being positioned better. The cost isn’t that much higher either. Looks interesting but very situational.
I like it but i think it would be cooler if it was battery powered, on wheels, and came with a broom that it could pair to and follow around. That would be sweet!
I don't think that this would ever _completely_ replace a vacuum cleaner but I would love to see your idea + the unit being convertible to a regular vacuum by attaching a hose and the regular vacuum parts. Or maybe a Viomi/Dyson style handheld unit which docks into the top of a unit like this, so that the motor and battery drive the Eyevac base when it's connected.
I've seen these in hair salons. They seem pretty handy for light weight debris. I don't know... I usually just get my stick vac or broom and dust pan for quick clean ups. Plus... you would have to have it centrally located in your house to be convenient. I don't know... I'm not sure about this one.
It seems to work really well for hair and I can see why barber shops use it. But for normal home use, I'll stick with my $2 dustpan.

Maybe it's still worth having one in the kitchen, if you don't mind blowing some money.
I feel like having 1 per floor is enough since I don't sweep one room in the house that often.
Where do I get one of these houses
Wow Ive never heard of vacuum ports in a house. I'm gonna google it.
I have mobility issues, I bought a Bissell broom vac 5 yrs ago and have been very pleased with it
That piece of bread looked like a dying fish. Hilarious.
Love love your channel, so full of down to earth honest reviews. Take care sir.
I’ve had a couple of these for a few years now. Got them for $70 on QVC. Perfect for cat litter/hair. I typically use it on manual mode though.
They make dustpans with long handles. This product is useless lol
@@baconscoobysnacks3135 Your attitude is useless lol
Yeah, kitty litter is like glitter. I have a rough time getting all of it vacuumed up even with a traditional Shark and Dyson vacuum. Takes some finagling to get it all. Litter should get some leeway.
Yep and in bare feet always cop the piece ya missed.
Use a wet/dry vac with a couple horsepower motor. Even the cheapest have an almost 2 hp motor on them.
I have an older model that I bought on HSN. It came with a broom. The broom is a pain, but the Eyevac is awesome! I love mine! Also, I think I only paid 70 dollars for it. It’s worth every penny to me.
The bread part was priceless
I live in a multipet household with lots of fur. The best thing I like about mine is than when you get the dreaded fur build-up on your broom. You can just sweep your broom across the bottom and it cleans all off!
I would say the manual dust pan is hard to beat with a vacuum dust pan.
The bread… I giggled super hard when it flapped like it was giving James a raspberry. 😂😂😂
I losttttt it at 1:41 when James went "whHaat??" 😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks for this! You did solid research and convinced me this isn't the perfect solution to my cleaning problems! Really appreciate you saving me $100
I got my mom one for 50.00 it was on sale (different brand) and its worked amazingly.
Lmao the piece of bread reminded me of that video of the goat that flaps his tongue around all crazy.
The vacuum port should be in the middle and maybe even a bit wider all be it maybe narrower than the current hole to maintain suction power
Nope.
Same thing I was thinking!
Good idea I need a dust pan with a long handle.😀
My dad kept bugging me to order this for him because his barber had one. I resisted for a while but he kept hounding me. Needless to say it’s never been used beyond testing it the first day. It works fine, but as I told him from the start, it’s useless because it’s stationary. You’ll need to sweep debris across the whole room to get to where you set it up. Maybe it’s more useful if you have it close to/within an area that gets debris on the floor often like a craft area.
The door popping off and the bread were hilarious (yay bailey!) Seems like a handy product.
I feel as if maybe the suction hole should be bigger, to fit the whole area of space you sweep into. That would make the design more efficient I feel.
We have this at work and I "wipe" the broom bristles across the opening to let it clean the debris off the very bottom of the broom. This also makes sure you get most of the debris near the suction opening.
🤣🤣 The bread was hilarious!
The sound of this thing is really soothing 😴
I thought this would be a good gift for my mom but then I realized that she already vaccums everything. Having to sweep a pile to a specific spot just adds more work.
We have something like this built into the baseboard of each room of our house. It's connected to our central vacuum, ours isn't automatic though. Each one has switch you turn on with your foot.
Great review, man. This was a real service to anyone taking this this seriously. Personally, I'll stick with Roomba. 👍🏾👍🏾
3:12 - Always great to see BAILEY! As for the product itself, I still prefer a dustpan.
And regular vacuums are too bulky to move around my kitchen, and are just too heavy for me.
why not get a roomba instead?
Good morning I enjoy watching all your reviews on all the products can I make a request if you don't mind can you review the Powerful Floor Police Mop I'm OCD also all about cleaning and sanitizing my home I really would love your input on this product is it a Ne or Ye🤔🤔 Thank you😍
I have had the pet one for years and my husband loves it! Sometimes Zulily has them for cheaper.
I’ve just gotta say that I’m still giggling way too hard over the flapping bread looking like the EyeVac was giving you a raspberry. 🤣🤣🤣
That said, I’d love something like this for when I sweep.
@6:16 "ooOOooh" had me cracking up. Thanks for that.
Had a big laugh when that slice of bread started flapping under the machine!
I like staying up with technology in my home. I think it would be a great addition, but I’m looking to see what other vacuum dust pans will be coming out.
I love mine that my son purchased for me. Quite helpful if you have a bad back and bending is an issue.
Nice to see a good old fashioned electronic gadget that isn't attached to big brother sending pictures of you back to Vicki
Him crushing the crackers in his hand was oddly satisfying.
This might be useful for someone that cannot use a heavy vacuum but they can use a broom.
The bread was far more humorous than I expected.
I would like something like that, it would help some that may not be able to bend over with a dust pan, thank you for the review 😊
For some reason, that bread flapping was so funny.
James, how is the sound level? I have a bad back and this is appealing to me.
I'd say it's about the same volume as a standard vacuum. It's pretty loud, but only for about 10 seconds at a time.
I'd suggest a dustpan with the handle instead... much cheaper. Or for the cost of this thing you could even get one of the cheaper 'robot vacuums'. Mine works a charm and cost about the same price as this... (of course you'd have to bend over to pick it up to empty it, but you have to bend over to empty this electronic dustpan too)
I laughed so hard at that piece of toast LOL I don't know why but it was so funny!
well, this looks like a solution looking for a problem. I'll stick to using a shop vac (less than 1/2 the cost and it picks up wet spills as well) as a dust pan.
This guy has 2 houses? Man your loaded!!!
I look forward to finding out if his pets set it off and how scared those pets get by the surprise.
I laughed my butt off when it slurped the remains of the bread slice 🤣
I've seen these in hair salons. They seem pretty handy for light weight debris. I don't know... I usually just get my stick vac or broom and dust pan for quick clean ups. Plus... you would have to have it centrally located in your house to be convenient. I don't know... I'm not sure about this one.
I have one of these and they are fantastic. Reduced my vacuum use by 80%
