John Locke is absolutely one of my favorite characters in LOST.
John had the saddest story. I always felt bad for John.
These flashbacks are so frustrating because the others were actively trying to recruit John all his life but to be the person the island needed meant he had to let the rest of the world kick him around for a few decades.
21:57 "No, he wouldn't do this to me!". The way this line was delievered..and music...i cried at this moment, ngl. Poor John
When he realises his father stole his kidney, that part breaks my heart. One of the few things I've watched on tv or in a movie that is truly devastating. John Locke was the best character in this.
I absolutely agree. Heartbreaking, and Locke is hands down my favorite character - and the one I can relate to the most.
Agreed
I can identify with Locke!
Lived such a sad life. Grew up with no parents as an orphan, then people doubting him as he got older. Was lonely, couldn't find love until Helen, but then she didn't believe in him either. Found his parents only to them setting him up to steal his Kidney, then leaving him (again). Can't stand living, still looking for his father, but gets pushed out of a window. Loses feelings in his legs, then horrible job, dick of a boss Still feels like he can do anything, then gets denied by Helen and wont be aloud on Walkabout. Then Jacob brings him to the Island. He feels like this is his meaning of life, but then loses hope, only to try to get everyone to come back, but fails, so trys to kill himself. Ben stops him, then he gets murdered. At least he moved on in peace.
Jigsaw yeah his life was not so great
His time in the marijuana farm seemed good though for him
Lol lost is so good...
John and the man in black became one in the end.
what peace? you forget he got hit by car even in the final of series xd
I'm so angry that the smoke monster used his body.
As jack said it's so disrespectful!
John was the only one who actually thaught that the island is not pure evil and that they where brought there so Jacob help them understand that their life is not lost.
Though I never got a chance to see this show, but I do know that John Locke had lived a, miserable, severely fucked up life. Locke deserved better
I love how the mouse trap eludes to what's to come with Locke and his father
First locke gets conned out of a kidney by his dad then locke gets conned out of his life and his body by the man in black
@@HeroesNights Don't forget John was manipulated by the FBI agent, in order to gather evidence on the marijuana commune
That's true. Sadly Locke's lot in life was to be taken advantage of by other people
So sad
thx captain o
I'm so angry that the smoke monster used his body.
As jack said it's so disrespectful!
John was the only one who actually thaught that the island is not pure evil and that they where brought there so Jacob help them understand that their life is not lost.
He replicated his body. Didn't take over it if that's what you mean.
@@drakenfist yeah I know.
But it's sad that it chose his form specifically, because he was a good man.
I wish they had kept Titus Welliver honestly and I would've liked to see real Locke in season 6
@@francissellerdude Been a lot cooler if he was the MiB once Desmond took out the cork from the light source.
The BS knew that Locke was the most influençable person in the island
His parents were terrible people
But he was stupid to get back contact with them, because they left him when he wa sborn
Why did his mother only make one appearance and his father made several appearances?
Idk. She was in the show 2 times tho.
This was 3 years ago so I won't directly reply. How was this stupid? People do this all the time. I think you need too check back and see how your wrong
@@TheDignam so? what is the point here? he wanted to see them its normal
John Locke. Truly the most tragic character on LOST.
Agreed.
100% agree.
Terry O'Quinn is a superb actor! I love him!!
This week on John Locke...he gets screwed...err...again.
His dad is the devil, joking about being god when John states his mothers words of being immaculately conceived.
They overdid it with the tragedy. It's just too much and makes me want to cry
6:18 he choosed the knife because it was his...the clockwatch was from...RICHARD.
I kept saying this and some people use this to try to "debunk" that he isn't special. Apparently they just forgot he had dreams about the future *the same dreams that walt had when he was sorta at locke age when this happened* and I think we can all agree walt was special. Plus, he choose the knife because that's what he is.
my favorite character
Okay, just throwing this out there. Why hasn't anybody made a show where each episode would explore the life of someone, just anyone? Like in this exact format? Just jumping forward in time. I mean yeah I can see how it can be repetitive if each episode would start at the birth and end at death. I mean it doesn't have to show the literal beginning, middle, and end of someone's life. It can literally start at any point in someones life, I feel like this format can be a great way to explore character. I mean seriously, the format alone already sucks you in, but it still requires great writing.
Really nice work. Looking forward to viewing the other parts.
John Locke is a Man of Destiny
The song is called Everyday by Buddy Holly
Johns mother abandoned him in the hospital as a baby thinking he had gotten adopted the whole time, her eyes widened when she realized that he never had family or experienced the life she thought he had left him, her eyes show that she left her son with nothing. He was then abandoned in the hospital by his his father after having his kidney stolen by his father. Both parents abandoned John in his most vulnerable moments, hence why the counselor told him there wouldn’t be a happy ending.
He was sooooo cool, in a normal "lost in a island" situation he would be such a badass, he was a good man and a great hunter/lider, killing him like that was a waste
He had to die for Jack to believe tho
All of it happened for a reason, as everything in LOST does. It all lead to the moment that plane crashed on that island, they were chosen from the start.
Yep. John died to inspire Jack to have faith which lead to him keeping sure the island survived. Poor John. He essentially was a guide for Jack.
@@YodatheHobbit Too sad jack didn't realize that until the end :(
Then why did it matter that Desmond didn't hit the code that one time?
Miniseries about Locke would be so good
His live was fucking bad and sad ;(
Poor John! No-one believed him. 🥺
Kevin Tighe plays creepy very well.
Oh man, the scene when John first talks to his mom. i didn't notice the kid sprung the trap on the game.
Why did they conspire to trow him out of the window?
the flashbacks with locke at the weed commune is after locke and helen split up, so this isn't chronological
8:30 That teacher was probably the only good adult figure young Locke ever had. If only he had listened to him he could have had a better life.
@11:06
I always liked the way he said Nerrrrf .
I can't think of anyone who had a shitter life than John lol
I hope you mean in real life because there are many characters who have had it much worse
@@lifeisberserk9566 From your pfp yeah I agree 💀
4:00 “That guy with eye-liners”
Sawyer xD
That thumbnail had me rolling
I just notice when i watched for a second time, when the cop stopped them for the tail light, they were doing a check that Eddie had found the right person. Isn't that what a hitchhiker would say? "he's my uncle". Eddie was supposed to find him, thus was not arrested. .
Commune flashbacks are supposed to take place after he lived with Helen.
Poor thing, he had a really bad start in life.....breaks my heart 😥😥😥😕 reminds me of a boy I know his mother left when he was an infant
This is just way too fuckin saaaaad
john locke made this show for me i was losing hope in the show till the 1st season episode 4 .. then he proved him self in the moth episode...but hurley was pretty dam awesome to
And then Desmond
What about sayid
You should make a video for Desmond to...you did a great job with the other chronological videos
Thank you for this
23:42 Are you sure this flashback comes in this position? I think this flashback comes after the episodes "Orientation" and "Lockdown"
That thumbnail is hilarious
Those cheerleaders laughed at him as a kid, but if they met him on the island they seriously wouldve been melting. They would have become major perverts, trying desperately to hook up with Locke. Odds are they wouldnt have had a shot though
John, ya cant keep rockin that dinky comb-over forever.
DONT TELL ME WHAT I CANT.. oh.
He's in the latest Those Who Live series. Check it out. Hadn't aged a day
27:25
damn, he looks like a sane version of Trevor Phillips
The guy playing Locke looks too old to be Cooper’s son 😂 🤣
You should see him today, he hasn't aged a day. He's in the new Those Who Live series
27:11 That's foreshadowing John building a sweat lodge on the island to figure out what he needed to do to save Eko.
I know John did what he thought was right by giving him the kidney, but I'm surprised he didn't realize he was being used sooner.
We all can be naive! Especially if no one told him about life and how some people are. Some people think they’re good people and that’s not true for everyone!
The Best part of LOST was Seeing John Locke get out of his Wheelchair ♿️ ❤😊
Super tragic even more so that he didn't pass Richards/Jacobs test when he was a kid he coulda gone to the Island right then and there!. But I guess if he did that he wouldn't get to build his character/faith/and strengths through adversity.
If locke were alive today hed probably like playing grand strategy games like HOI4
Best character
Locke was clearly the reincaration of Jacob's brother/smoke monster. It is pointed out since the beginning. He was "the loop hole".
The flashbacks were probably my least favorite part of the show. Now I find myself clicking on a video dedicated to them.
Me too 😅
I enjoyed most of the flashbacks more than the present
@@lifeisberserk9566 It's been awhile and I know they had some good ones (like the Locke ones here) but I remember not liking it. At the time, I wasn't a fan of the switching back and forth, I kind of just wanted to focus on the Island stuff.
@@cameronwiley9412 yeah that makes sense though Jin and sun's stories were amazing storytelling
@@lifeisberserk9566 Yeah I did like the Sun and Jin Stories. I liked those characters alot.
But weren't there flashbacks that came later that were just made up and not real? Like I just remembered there was a flashback where "Syiad?" rescued Jin from a freezer, was that real, or a Heaven flashback or something. (It's been too long to remember everything.)
Lockes story is probably the most tragicly sad i have ever seen on TV or movies.
They never said if he considered seeking out his parents before his mother found him.
21:34 "GAH, THEY STOLE MY FREAKING KIDNEY!"
The principal says that locke cant be a superhero. He was wrong. Locke tracks boar, he can make ethan his bitch, wrestles polar bears for fun, and he kicked the smoke monsters ass. He is a superhero
And was special. Plus, there is no doubt at all he would have be made the best protector of the island
@@masterofdragons82 i really hate the direction the writers went in. Locke had such a great story arc, and then they threw that horrible plot twist where the man in black was just manipulating him. There are better places they could have gone with the story
@@thelavinator6343 I know. I was really sad he died, but honestly I do like the ending where he's alive. I think the ending would have been better (not where it shows they all are dead but the island and all that) if he died but the episodes would have been better if he was there. And what do you mean the MiB was manipulating him?
@@masterofdragons82 it was the mib giving locke all the dreams. Most of the instructions he followed was from the mib
@@thelavinator6343 I'm not too sure about that. I don't think mib can give people visions. I think it was actually the island giving him those dreams.
How did she not see that car?
the rain
She had her eye view obscured by the jacket she held over her head to avoid getting wet. Before she saw the car it was too late to avoid getting hit.
1:40 Why did they have to induce early labor on her? She said she was 5-6 months. How bad were her injuries?
i feel so bad for him
His parents doesn't look old enough. They could be his brother and his sister.
That's the idea.. Anthony Cooper was a sick pathetic person who conned people. John Locke's mother could've been a lot more younger than Anthony.
They had him at 15
Isn't this a bit of a paradox? Richard visits John Locke because John Locke travels back in time and tells Richard to visit him. Is he really that special, or did he do it all by himself? I don't understand.
+ProClifo Yes, the island always seeped into John's life because of the time travel fiasco. Just like how in the timeline, Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Sayid, etc. were ALWAYS in the Dharma Initiative in the year 1977, it's just that their presents got their after they crashed on the island (I know I'm making this sound very confusing, but it's pretty cool to think about.)
He manifests his own destiny simply because he was told to believe in himself. To believe he is truly special. Whether he is or not is completely left to interpretation.
The man got conned for his kidney's
Happy birthday at john locke from italian boy live in rome and i m fan of lost
Thanks! Will you do the same for all characters?
why didnt he sue him
Im sure they make you sign something saying your giving up your kidney no problem
Emiliy and her mother aren't worth of John. He was special like Walt.
8:19 - "it's never been easy!"
God, how old was emily when she had John?
+Dean Parker I think 15.
how did RIchard find him or know where to look or why?
Ceviz because when the island was moving throughout time john ended up in a time before he was born and told richard where and when he would be born so richard could go see him to know john was telling the truth about whatever he told
him (i forget)
Jacob's lighthouse, I'd assume.
14:30 I like this brother
26:02 who is police actor name?
23:33 I know this was edited for the sake of it being purely flashbacks in order, but c'mon, that part is never complete without the infamous hatch scene.
Did O'Quinn ever get an award for this? If not, he damn well should have, a prestigious one at that.
Emmy
This poor guy. His father clearly doesn't give a fuck about him and exploited him to steal his kidney from him. Imagine meeting a person so lovable and trustable, and then they stab you in the back. Well, there's a wake-up call. Welcome to the real world. You will never have any friends, you might think you have, but they'll gladly fuck you up, with a smile on their face, if it suits their own purposes.
I didn't understand that scene when Richard tested young john.
Can someone explain please?
John appeared to Richard in the past in the 1950's and told him to come and visit him when he was born in 1956. John gave Richard the compass. Richard thought John would pick the compass him gave him but he didn't because John doesn't know his future self comes to visit Richard yet.
@@YodatheHobbit Plus, why would he pick the compass? Didn't the smoke monster give richard the compass? I mean, you might say that's because locke had it when richard gave it to him but he gave it back in the 1950's so theres not way he could have had it. Plus hwo could the smoke monster could have got it? The knife is the reasonable choice
If anyone's curious, I believe the first version of mouse trap (which I also used to play as well) was first released in 1963. I believe John was born in 1954 so it's definitely possible that he played the game as a child
Didn't jacob and his brother found the same game when they were 13? only proves locke is special
@@masterofdragons82 I think that was some ancient board game. Definitely not Mouse Trap.
@@billygowhoop No, not mouse trap. When everyone crashed in season 1 and walt came to locke to see what he was playing and it was basically the same game jacob and MiB were playing when they were little
@@masterofdragons82 that was backgammon.
@@billygowhoop yeah the same game they were playing
Is it me or Richard looks like G-man from Half Life? 3:56
Always did
21:44 Man, that is sad
John Locke had such a sad life. I thought the Island would make his life better, but just like Jack, it didnt help either of them.
*The Light.....can become the Dark*
I think that the farm events took place between he broke up with Helen and the events where his father threw him oit of the window
Does anyone know what kind of knife young Locke picks up in 'Cabin Fever', Make? Type? Manufacturer? Time Period? Anything would help...
No. but why would you need it. Also, probably in the 1960s or late 1950s (in the show, not real life)
@@masterofdragons82 ... I like to collect items from the show. A replica would be fine obviously. I just don't enough about knives. I know its rare because I can't even find another by doing an image search.
The guy of the last part is Jessi Pickman of breaking bad??
When one about Sawyer?
That’s the same knife used to kill John.
KAIRO310 not John man in black
There are plenty of scenes missing...
What I never understood, is why did his Dad ghost him after? Why not keep the relationship, they were getting along well.
How come John mother only made one adult appearance
Cuz she was a very minor character
Still think she should have more appearances. She was not as bad as his father was.
@@robertfitzgerald326 yeah would have been nice to see her more, I agree.
She was crazy lol
Probably because she was complicit in how he lost his kidney, so he wanted nothing to do with her.
His mother is evil! When some people come into your life things can go from bad to worse!
All these shows and movies make men look bad! John was to willing to help a stranger!
Who is she? I forgot that.
Emily's a cutie
Breaking: Rick Grimes killed John Locke
That is a man
So is cooper his actual dad or does john just like to believe that
Gretchen Weiners Copper is his real dad. A pretty crappy one though.
You did it to yourself, Jon. The private investigator explicitly warned you. No sympathy
Honestly, I have an uncle by marriage who learned in his late 50s that he had a son he didn't even know about. The latter was the one who reached out, as far as I know, and it went over just fine.
Holy crap there are over 4 hours of john locke flashbacks?
