Christiansdad2011 I started in February got up to about 50 listed but just scored enough to double our inventory. So excited for the upcoming library sales in April
How’s it going today with your fba journey? Been on eBay for a long time looking to swing my items over there too and cross post and maybe do a little book fba selling. Wondering what you make a week roughly just off books?
I really appreciate you making this video. I can tell you are a genuine person. Thank you for helping me personally and anyone else who watches this video.
Gabriel Mondragon One day? Seems like you’re looking for instant gratification. Just because it has a low rank doesn’t mean it will sell immediately. A book that low in rank no doubt has a lot of competition on it. More factors come to play then just rank.
Did you list it as New? If Amazon is selling it New it may never sell. Amazon almost never shares the Buy Box on New books. Also, don't sell new books, sell used.
Eventhough you haven't started with books a long time ago, I find your videos most helpful. I'm so thankful to have found your channel! Thank you so much! My husband and I just sent our first shipment in and are waiting for our first sale :). I'm encouraged by you!
Hi Lenny, I just found your videos today and I'm so thankful that I did. I'm brand new. Sold a few text books a few weeks ago and they sold so fast it got me thinking about starting a business. I've only seen a few of your videos, but I plan on watching them all. I love the way you teach and appreciate the time you take to help everyone else out. I just heard you say you're from Miami. I'm sure you've evacuated and are safe, but I just want to wish you well and I hope this hurricane does not cause much damage to Florida.
Thank you so much for giving back to us. Your videos have helped me a great deal. What criteria do you use to determine what books to purchase? How do you train your book scouters? Thank you again
You are very welcome! I use the FBA Scan app, configure it and provide it to my scouters. Check out the HOW TO USE FBASCAN video I made which goes into depth a bit as well as the one I did on Hiring scouters.
What keeps me from moving over to amazon is the shipping to amazon and shelf fees etc. I want to start but I'm not confident about it at the moment. As a beginner with Amazon what product rank in books should I go for. I haven't found any books that are lower than 100,000. Just to add to this comment is that I have about 5000 books all were free. I threw out a bunch of books that are destroyed. Can I sell damaged books that I think are acceptable, or books with writing and highlighting? At what level of condition should I not bother selling books.
Hi Lenny, thanks for all of these informative videos! I am watching all of yours today, you have been alot more helpful and I understand your teaching method better than most. Is there a way I can ask you a question about this business? I am highly motivated..
I work at a flea market and I have a huge bookstore across from me where I can get any book for free..... want to know what kind of books sell ... the owner of the bookstore scans them all himself nothing goes out for sale without being scanned first ....so how do I find your video that explains which books to buy.. I get my books free because I've given him hundreds of books over the years ... he also sells on Amazon just found your channel thank you very much for all the info I didn't realize books were so valuable I'm older and I sure could use the money to get health insurance Etc
hey thank you for posting this video,I mainly sell on ebay and do youtube and just started amazon today (already dug myself in a hole by paying for an account without any product ) and this was a great watch
Thanks for the comment and for watching! Glad you enjoyed it. I have more videos sharing my experiences and also how-to videos dealing with selling on Amazon (via merchant and Amazon fulfillment) like coming up with a business plan, where to source books, what equipment you need, and much more. I'm going to aim for posting every week so please subscribe if you haven't already and enjoy!
I did the same and asked for a refund and downgraded my account bc I didn't want to dive into FBA right away - doing merchant fulfilled for now w books
That is great to hear merchant is doing well for you now with books. It's nice that Amazon allows you to downgrade (or upgrade) between plans in cases like this.
Hi thank you for posting this. It made me feel like all the research I have been doing will maybe end up paying off in the future. I have always been big into taking advantages at opportunities and going until I succeed. I see all of this as a big opportunity to make good money after I become good and then maybe starting a brand. I never knew much about starting a business until about a month ago when I started researching this stuff and watching videos and taking notes everyday. I feel like I have taken in a lot of information but there are still some things I am a little unsure about when starting up. Also I have heard so many biased and unbiased opinions on certain models but I was wandering if I could maybe at some point get in contact with you on what my game plan should be and if I should wait and keep saving more or start now.
I am 15 with a job and I have been saving up for a while now. I know you have to be 18 to sell on amazon, but my mom said she would help with that and let me do most work.
I dont understand what Im doing wrong. I have been selling for 2 weeks and have only sold 4 books. I sell with prime, and have kept my price, initially what amazon said to put it at and am lower priced than some and pretty even with a few others. the price seems right by amazon, books are ranked around 300,000-1M. but they are good like new books and my prices are similar to the others selling on prime. most the books go for around 30 some under 20 and a few 60-90 which also compares close or lower than other prime listers for the same book. please let me know what you think could be the problem, we are working our tails off day and night sourcing, cleaning, listing /labeling and shipping off books almost everyday. and sometimes I wonder why am I killing myself when Im not making a profit. 30 dollars a week isnt going to be enough. everybody else seems to be making profit and some arent even putting in as much hard labor to do it. what could be the problem thank you forgot to mention I am doing it through FBA also forgot to mention my balance is -3 dollars. Ive made nothing because of all the shipping costs etc for about 8 boxes. so even though the book profit was 83 it all went to amazon fees. How am I going to make anything?
I found your video and I am a beginner an I wanna sale books on amazon and not have to work again I am willing to learn each and vey step I do need to knoe what I need to have as far as materials do I need the dump to get started I am ready to start now
Hello Lenny, I found your channel. Great content and great info! Thanks for sharing. Trying to figure out how to PM you (TH-cam keeps changing things around which make it difficult for me to find which is what and where, if you know what I mean). Thanks again. Keep up the excellence.
Then if you look after the title page within the beginning of the book you will most likely find a ISDN printed on that page. If not, then search by title of book.
Been looking for a newbie such as myself just started this month. was a little hesitant about it heard it's a dying market with books on Amazon, but you put that thought to rest. Have you thought about expanding the business from books or expanded yet maybe clothes or wholesaling? I only feel comfortable with books so far
Hey! Thanks for reaching out and great question. I have sold some toys after doing some retail arbitrage but books seems to be easier for me and my scouters at this time. I'm surrounded by many goodwills. Maybe down the road I'll look into other items but right now the business model I have is pretty solid and it's working for me. It also comes down to what is accessible around your area and use those resources to feed your inventory so it will be different for most but doing some good research helps a lot.
If you use Amazon FBA and your books go to their warehouses all across the country then you are responsible to collect sales tax and pay that sales tax on books that sell in those States. Yep, you read that right. It is a big PITA. States can come after you and do a Sales Audit if you sell alot of books to customers in their state but don't collect and pay a sales tax.
Lenny,Thanks for the video. I have a similar background as you, studied MIS in college. I work professionally, have a family, and started this venture in January. I've only been selling books but sales have been low and trying to figure out how to boost sales. I have some additional questions, can I PM you?
Hello Richard, thanks for reaching out! Yeah seems like we do have a similar background. Yes, feel free to message me via my Facebook page or through TH-cam, whichever is easier.
Thanks, At the beginning I'd say a few hours a week On the way to and from work I'd stop by the Goodwill. On The weekends I'd stop by a few garage sales. Then, I hired scouters to look for books for me and I paid them $2.50 per book based on the FBA scan results and condition.
Just curious about long term storage fees. Are you paying it after 6 months? Or do you liquidate or drastically lower prices on the books that will be charged storage for?
Great question. Since it's been under 6 months via FBA for me I won't be able to answer that question exactly however based on the books I'm listing most are selling fairly quickly because part of my business model I try not to post books higher than 2 million sales rank. I'm selling now like average 40 books a week. My inventory as of today is about 1300 books and I try to send at least 100 a week to Amazon. I do have some over 2 million sales rank but try to make sure the profit is enough to cover the shipping to Amazon (might be heavy book) plus the long term storage fees since the sales rank is higher. Sales rank is always fun to deal with because it's not a definite answer only more about sales history so you are kinda assuming it will sell x amount a month given the stats for the last month or so. I know I can reprice my inventory that has been hanging out at Amazon for a while but haven't had the need to yet as it's still early. I read this FBA 30/60 rule and been kind of driving toward that as part of my business model as well and it's working pretty nicely. www.fbamastery.com/how-fast-should-your-fba-inventory-sell-the-3060-rule/
One thing I read to beat the storage fee game or at least gain an additional free 5 months storage is to send in biggest shipments to FBA right after the Feb 15 and Aug 15 fee assessment so that by the next assessment you would only have that inventory in for 5 1/2 months and wouldn't assessed a storage fee until the next cycle at 11 1/2 months. That's my plan - see how I do on sales with MF and then roll into FBA in March with greater inventory.
Ah, apologize for not explaining further. If you click on my channel then click on the "About" page, then on the top right of that page there should be a "Send message" button. Give that a try when you can and I'll see if I get a PM from you. I have used it in the past but only way to see if it works is if we give it a try.
I am a skeptic @ heart, and while this guy seems super sincere, picking books that have a $30 average sales price seems unfathomable to me. I apologize if he's telling the truth, but I can't help but wonder if many of these FBA gurus are trying more to monetize their TH-cam channels, blogs, etc. than they are actually trying to build a real, FBA business.
Thanks for the comment and I hear you Christopher and I had the same thoughts about other channels when I started. I'm no FBA guru as I've mentioned in several videos and only started in Nov of 2016. I'm simply sharing my journey and providing some how-to's, reviews, tips and tricks along the way as I build my FBA business. I have an LLC and pay taxes when I collect but in no way will I be making millions on off this business. It's easy, profitable passive income.
Hi Lenny , regardless of my above concerns, your videos are highly informative, and I've enjoyed watching them. You have a solid, thinking-man's approach, and I appreciate it. The best way to find out what's possible with FBA, obviously, is for me to actually do it. Thank you for the videos.
99% books and I have also gone through PL with one product and it's going well. I may do a few videos on my PL experience as well but not really putting too much attention into it at this time.
I appreciate your thoughtful video but the narrative its too long mostly because you are repeating. However, again I thank you for thinking of those of us who want to start selling our books. This business is still profitable! For anyone thinking of selling books on Amazon you can still do it in 2018!

Man you are awesome, so giving thank you very much I'm a newbie so I'll have lots of questions I love the way you teach. Thanks again..
Great stuff man, I'm in college and a course I'm taking is all about arbitrage and we're selling stuff through amazon fba. Earned a new subscriber!
Awesome, thank you! Glad to hear!
Just starting...not sure you're going to see this because it was 4 years ago. Thank you. Going to go watch the other ones.

Thanks! Yes, we went through Irma. We didn't evacuate but everyone is safe. Just some yard and fence damage. good luck with the books!
Can you let me know how your doing these days with fba? Looking to try book fba selling i do ebay now but it’s slow.
Great stuff man! Congrats on your early success!
Thank you, and thanks for the kind words!

Hi Lenny! Just found your channel. I've been selling on eBay for the last year and was looking to venture into bookselling on Amazon.
Thanks for helping out !
Aloha. I'm in the Port Charlotte/Ft. Myers area and am set up to sell. Do you have scouts in SWFL?

I am going to a library sale near my area, however they said that they don’t allow electronic equipment for scanning purposes. What should I do?
Hello Lenny, I found your channel. Great content and great info! Thanks for sharing. Trying to figure out how to PM you (TH-cam keeps changing things around which make it difficult for me to find which is what and where, if you know what I mean). Thanks again. Keep up the excellence.
Wow! Great video. Are you still selling books with fba? How is it going.
How do you pay the sales tax for the various states?
The good days of selling books online are long gone.
how do you get approved to sell books as new or like new? I cannot apply for approval, is there a way around this? thank you
/so how does fba work better then original plan?
What happens if the books are before bar codes came along?
Then if you look after the title page within the beginning of the book you will most likely find a ISDN printed on that page. If not, then search by title of book.
And if title is not there can one still sell the book by typing in its title (I am thinking pre 1900)
In one of your videos did you say that you had a trucker scout books for you ? If so was he an over the road trucker ?
hmm I don't recall mentioning it being a "trucker" but I have a college student plus a buddy of mine looking to make some quick cash.
Great info...Thanks
How do I determine the price of the books ?
compare your price with the others

I don't have much to offer but would there be any way for you to teach amazon FBA to me in like 30 mins start to where you are now :)?
I'd be glad to help and even mentor. PM me and we will talk for sure!
I have no clue how to message someone on youtube :|. I think they might have took that option out

how are your sales now?
How do you get 6 people to source books for you and not take your profit by listing books themselves ?
Awesome
Thank you
cool thanks for sharing
my husband has too many books, he need to sell all, would you buy?
Hi does your husband still have the books?
How long does it take for Amazon to pay you?
They usually have 2 week payment cycles but I think there is a short hold just incase for returns.
Very good video but “merchant only” is misspelled on the graph
How are you paying your employees, per book? Per hour?
Per book. It's a flat fee of $2.50 I pay them per book. It's in their best interest to get the books cheaper than $2.50 so make a little profit
SimonSaysResell Thanks I'll keep that in mind, I just started book sourcing and I'm in a Miami too.
I am a skeptic @ heart, and while this guy seems super sincere, picking books that have a $30 average sales price seems unfathomable to me. Do you only sell books? Do any RA or PL? Thanks for the content.
99% books and I have also gone through PL with one product and it's going well. I may do a few videos on my PL experience as well but not really putting too much attention into it at this time.
isn't it difficult to find books with enough profit margin? Most used books on amazon sell for like 5 bucks, even medical collage books
Only compete with the amazon prime ones
Hi
I appreciate your thoughtful video but the narrative its too long mostly because you are repeating. However, again I thank you for thinking of those of us who want to start selling our books. My book is a sexy cookbook that I have in boxes upstairs in my bedroom. You have provide info to get me going. Thanks.
