After the performance, be sure to head over to the Zildjian Learning Zone to watch Michael Burritt's interview with Joseph Schwantner! th-cam.com/video/q7-eLvX4dz0/w-d-xo.html
Amazing performance. Also love Schwantners music. It's really amazing, i don't know how many times i have had to adjust my equipment while performing. It's one of those things that percussionists have to deal with all the time unbeknownst to the audience. Meanwhile, not a beat missed in the middle of a cadenza while adjusting your tom. Well done as always Michael Burritt.
Thank you for sharing! Back in the 90s I used to sneak into The Eastman School, find an empty practice room and play piano for hours. And by "sneak in" I mean just walk in the main entrance 😆.
Such a Schwantner-y piece (Not a bad thing) - lots of Dark Millennium aspects. Beautiful playing by all involved, esp Mike and the pianist is exceptional. Loved it

Percussion is the heart 💜 beat🪘
incredibile il livello espressivo... incredibili le divisioni... un viaggio nella percussione...

Delicious playing, all. This sounds rather familiar somehow. I think Schwantner quoted himself in the opening, right? New Morning?
And the percussion concerto, too I think?
Had a “…and the Mountains rising nowhere” vibe going on as well
Un poco extenso el solo
