They matured and became more engaging over the years compared to when they were kids and didnt give a fuck what people thought. They were the shit then and nice to see them still playing. Love you guys.
#1 band to influence the band I was in when we started in 1991 and when we first started out we covered four of their songs.. haven’t missed a tour of theirs dating back to ‘89
I have loved this band since they spectacularly burst onto the British music scene back in the 80's with "Some Candy Talking" and i still love them nearly 30 years later still kicking ass with some awesome tracks and riffs. Thank you, TJ&MC, for a lifetime of outstanding music that i still listen to after all these years. Not bad for a band from East Kilbride, Scotland. The boys done well and influenced me and countless other bands around the world!! 🎸🎸🎵🎵
JAMC was my #1 obsession during the 1990's, and they are just as good now. I was living in a small town when I first heard them, and nobody seemed to know about them, and I was like, "Where the f*** have you been?" I felt special and privileged. "Come On" was the first JAMC song I heard. No matter what their songs are about, each and every JAMC song just makes you feel good, or at least that's what their songs do for me. I retired to acoustic fingerstyle solo guitar, but JAMC is still an influence on me and always will be.
The Jesus and fucking Mary Chain. Absolute delight. Cannot wait for the new album whenever that may be. 26 year old fan from Texas. Missed you guys in Austin, but would love for you to visit again soon. Music is not the same these days.
Love the Mary chain honeys dead is my favorite album of all time I never get tired of hearing it. It’s nice to see Jim looking happy and talkative too. Love these guys so much
Thank you so much for being a band, guys. I really don’t know what life would be like without you. You are my favourite band of all time and you changed my life. I’m not exaggerating one bit. You are objectively the best band in the world. Any chance you could come to The Roundhouse in London? It would mean a lot and I need this. I can’t go anywhere else. I’m sure loads of people would love to see you there.
saw then in Portugal in the 80's, 90's and in 2018? honestly, best gig for me was the most recent, talk about a wall of sound , i felt my teenage self all over again, minus the drugs :D
The Reid brothers are legends I kind of stumbled across this but they really are a seminal band . They’ve been such an influence on guitar bands of the last thirty or so years . In my opinion it’s them and my bloody Valentine and the rest . Psychocandy , darklands , automatic , honeys dead , stoned and dethroned , munki what a fucking run . Legends .
Vão fazer apenas 2 anos que descobri essa banda. Não acredito que passei tanto tempo sem ouvir essa maravilha. Infelizmente não são muito conhecidos no Brasil.
Nunca es tarde si la dicha es buena. Fantástica banda: Psychocandy, Darklands, Barbed Wire Kisses, Stoned and Dethroned, The Honey is Dead...Disfruta mucho
Jesus é underground por aqui msm, o público sempre foi bem seleto aqui em SP, conto nos dedos. É o som dos caras, os Velvets TB foram assim, não sei explicar, adoro essa banda.
Still have my Honey's Dead cassette, one of only a handful of albums I can listen to beginning to end without wanting to skip a song. Its good to see JAMC still evolving (jazz).
Well written & said. 1985 - Psychocandy JAMC 1991 - 92: Psalm 69 Ministry Love both bands. Ministry who is now solely Al Jorgensen claim he'd never heard of the Jesus and Mary Chain. when Psalm 69 blew up in 1992 and critics as well as some fans made the "obvious' comparisons Journsen got angry and reiterated that he'd never heard of this poncy English band called the Jesus and Mary Chain. Paul Barker - who was in Ministry for their 5 big albums said that Al was too out of it to remember. Barker, whom I respect, said that honesty: " he had never heard off Psychocandy until Psalm 69 had well and truly taken off. " Barker was tormented by the Seattle 'grunge bands' that blatantly said to his face that both he & Jorgensen copied Psychocandy. Paul Barker then claims he sat down during a touring break and really listened to Psychocandy. He was impressed . . . really impressed. Barkers Honesty He broke down both albums and their use of " the wall of sound. " Ministry - we use loops and a guitar line is sampled 800 X. This is overplayed over 70's guitar lines. JAMC. - their use of guitar distortion and utilising their guitars as keyboards was truly amazing. Barker said he finally understood the accusations. To my and everyone else's surprise, Paul Barker admitted that Psychocandy was truly an amazing piece of work. Barker concluded by saying he would've loved to see Psychocandy being produced and mixed, as the ear of that producer would've been impeccable.
This was my favorite band in the 90's. But these days, to be honest, I'm with Jim - I like jazz 🤷🎷 but as he stated, it took a long time to get into it
Nope. You're wrong. They're both great bands and they're both unique in their own way. You can't compare one to the other. Anyway, this comment is really quite childish.
The Reid Bros will always have a special place in this 60-year-old heart of mine
Brazil here , I can say it as well . 60 years as well . Just love all their álbuns:)
'Everything is alright when you're down', can still lift me up 40 years later.
My favorite band since 1985!
I hear ya Bro!

My too :)
Jim's voice is kicking much ass than ever live. He aged just like fine wine really.❤
Definitely he has always been a really good looking guy. I think so at least lol
Indeed :)
One of the best songwriting duos to ever exist.
INDEED :)
Darklands, Automatic, Psycho Candy, Honeys Dead. What an albums.
They matured and became more engaging over the years compared to when they were kids and didnt give a fuck what people thought. They were the shit then and nice to see them still playing. Love you guys.
Love them. William looks like your favourite art lecturer while Jim looks like someone with a "past" you might meet in an AA meeting.
#1 band to influence the band I was in when we started in 1991 and when we first started out we covered four of their songs.. haven’t missed a tour of theirs dating back to ‘89
Love this band. Nice to see them still kicking!
Thanks, Jim and William. You've always helped. I was 15 when Psychocandy came out.
God bless you Reeds !
for so many years of good stuff

nearly 40 years later my friend... we are getting old. At least we are still cool!
William Reid inspired my playing, such an under rated Guitarist. Absolutely love TJAMC
Jim and William Reid. LIVING LEGENDS!!

thanks for those generous comments Lulu. If you prefer the Roundhouse that's where we'll go. Next year doing the new album.
@@jesusandmarychainofficial You kept your promise. I'll see you there as well in March 2024.
Still the best.
"I hate rock 'n' roll" was the first song I heard from you guys. Lot of good memories from then. Thank you so much.

Amazing interview and performance!
Always liked this song. Doesn’t seem like the 90’s could be so long ago. They were just young men.
I hope they do one more tour in the US. Last show I saw them was opening for NIN.
They did some US shows recently I think? Or something coming up, I can’t remember
lol first time I saw them, NIN opened for them.
No way,im more obsessed!!! He's gorgeous and sounding the same!!!
my fave band of all time
What a fantastic band… still amazing!

God damn they sound better than they ever have. So inspiring ❤

Best band in the know universe
Jesus ,desde sempre. ✌🌝🌎
Still sound as great as ever!!!
sexiest voice ever, they look and sound timelessly brilliant

This is fekkin amazing. Ahh, so good.
Brilliant
i love Chassol
Toronto please🙏🙏🙏
They’re coming in October!
Que rápido pasa el tiempo, más en estos tiempos..😢
WOW very cool
still the coolest...
Much, this is a lot better than their "Joy Division is shit" interview. They were pretty funny interview trolls in their early days.
Once you’ve heard one JAMC song, you’ve heard them both.
lol it just shows you know nothing about this band. Their sound changes drastically from album to album. It’s pretty obvious
Better to e thought a fool than to open your pie hole and prove that you are.
What were they thinking with Amputee
Offensive
Every time i see william i just think of here comes Alice
Sing xmas songs id still love the j+mc- oh Tannenbaum with feedback&crackly voices- come to me !!!! 💙🎶💙🦇💊💉🧷🤍🤍❄️🤍❄️🤍- J&MC FOREVER- bb

When wiz that.
Jim Reid, absolutely love the fact you love Suicide yaaaaaaasssss.
Best bands ever……
still cool
What happen to the hair?
Can we get your guitar rig run down? William.
In my life since Psychocandy.
poser of the cure
The cure sucks
Other than they had similar haircuts in the 80s I see no further comparison haha
