What’s crazy to me is that Blake Snell was just a free agent last year coming off a Cy Young season and no team in the entire league wanted to give him a long term deal at his asking price. That’s entirely their right but it’s funny how after hearing every excuse why he isn’t worth it last offseason (injury prone, walks too many batters, doesn’t pitch deep into games, lack of innings pitched in general, etc.) now so many people have an issue because the Dodgers signed him. If other teams didn’t want to offer him this kind of contract that’s on them. I’m even seeing some Padres fans who a year ago were saying they were fine with him leaving in free agency, that he was overrated and that the team that signed him would be overpaying, now complaining that the Dodgers are an unfair unbeatable superteam because of this. How are you gonna complain about the Dodgers signing someone that you said you didn’t want to keep?

The financial situation is out of whack in baseball because you got owners who only keep payrolls of $40-50 million dollars. How do you expect your team to compete when the owners self impose a shoe string budget because they’re cheap? Salary cap won’t stop the vast majority owners being cheap, want owners to spend, install a salary floor.
I disagree w/ your sentiment that players and managers deserve support, even if the team doesn't. A) They're inextricably linked, and B) These players will leave for greener pastures and more money the first chance they get. How often do you see a player offer a team a hometown discount? It doesn't happen very often. Essentially, Paul Skenes is still a minor leaguer, b/c in a few years, a team with more money will sign him to a long-term deal, and he'll actually get a chance to play for championship. Right now, he's playing for a Major League Baseball farm club.
Friedman is on a run to build a dynasty around ohtani. He's got a five to seven year window to do it. but also, surely he'll have to offload some guys or shifting some guys to the bullpen like gonsolin or may if they get sasaki. as for soto, i don't think most people care about soto outside of new york. somebody is going to overpay but it won't be the dodgers.
Love the show but I have to respectfully disagree with Trev that there are 7-8 other teams that can operate like the Dodgers have in free agency. Guggenhein Partners have 335 billion dollars worth of assets under management. The Dodgers are really just a small fraction of their total business. They are easily able to withstand the CBT requirements especially when it comes to defered contracts. There are lots of filthy rich owners in MLB but none of them can compete with a multinational strategic investment firm. Cohen has the money but its all coming out of his pockets rather than a business as a whole. Anyways, love the show boys!
This is an odd comment that frames things in a misleading manner. The $355 billion dollars of assets isn't at the beck and call of the Dodgers and I doubt the other investors would prop up the Dodgers indefinitely. The actual man himself that bought the Dodgers and operates them is worth significantly less than that and billionaires stay billionaires by being financially prudent. The reason the Dodgers can spend like they are right now is Shohei and success breeding success. It has less to do with the owner having unlimited funds (he doesn't)
With all the revenue sharing now and how many billionaire owners there are, yeah I think there are at least that many teams that can compete and throw money around. Even the Padres have spent…the Phillies have spent…Rangers went on a binge and then won…and we all know the Mets and Yankees spend. Many owners just want to pocket the profits.
I smell a owner v owner 94 kinda strike. Haves vs have nots vs financially cannots. If you dont have a LA 25 year 8 billion dollar solo tv deal, you can't get as risky.
Now the Dodgers will face the same criticism the Yankees have for decades. Since the 70's, all they've heard was that they bought their World Series. Now everyone except Dodgers fans will hate the Dodgers!
You realize that the rest of the country already despises LA for the shithole it is, but now you have to destroy the national past time? Tool made an anthem about SoCal. It’s called AEnima.
They CREATE the money!! They built a brilliant brand. They capitalize on a wealthy Japanese market. They market as well as anyone. And they SPEND instead of pocketing $$$ MANY teams could go for it. MANY teams could spend. Few do
Every team could spend the money that the Dodgers do. Poor teams are getting tons of free money from the rich teams every time they do these big deals. The Dodgers have poured money into the luxury tax. The poor teams just don't want to spend that money because they are willing to sacrifice wins for profits. Dodgers are one of the teams that have learned that winning brings money. Salary minimum - not a salary cap. Force the owners to spend money on their teams or sell to someone who can afford to play.
Stop saying "we got a superteam now', they have been a superteam for over a decade. Horrible for baseball, good for dodgers. Just causing less and less interest for 29 other fanbases in a sport that already in decline.

0 to do with Roki. That's international bonus pool money that'd be allocated anyways. 0 to do with their Snell signing whatsoever.
HOT OFF THE PRESS
This is only bad for the rest of the league, good for us! We want to go back to back to back🎉
The financial situation is out of whack in baseball because you got owners who only keep payrolls of $40-50 million dollars. How do you expect your team to compete when the owners self impose a shoe string budget because they’re cheap? Salary cap won’t stop the vast majority owners being cheap, want owners to spend, install a salary floor.
The Dodgers have been really good for 11 years and only won the world series twice nothing is a given
I disagree w/ your sentiment that players and managers deserve support, even if the team doesn't.
Why should great players give their cheapskate owners a discount when serious organizations will pay them what they're worth in free agency?
What? Bad for baseball? Dodgers, Dodgers nation and Japan are saving baseball. Stop it.
Hot take… all the typical Thanksgiving food is overrated! I’d rather have steak, brisket, or ribs for protein.
This is great for baseball...Dodgers baseball!
Yes
Billionaires love when there isn’t an equal playing ground though
Dynasty folks. Sit back and enjoy! 🏆
ENjoy what? The 1992 dream team playing against regular NBA teams? How much respect is that worth?
@@GJLCreativeStudioshate us cuz you ain’t usssssss😝
@@GJLCreativeStudiosbro became a fan this year 😭
You realize that the rest of the country already despises LA for the shithole it is, but now you have to destroy the national past time?
Tool made an anthem about SoCal.
It’s called AEnima.
Nah just never watching baseball again. Enjoy your rigged ass league
it’s a better story if soto leaves the yankees but ONLY if he goes to the red rox
I don’t hate it, get the best guys or someone eles will.
Steelers fans in any city are louder!
i mean if they can land adames he will be 100+ million and Teo will be at least 3yrs 75 or 4 years 100
Where's Cohen...? They better get Soto...
Sign Buehler!
They CREATE the money!! They built a brilliant brand. They capitalize on a wealthy Japanese market. They market as well as anyone. And they SPEND instead of pocketing $$$
MANY teams could go for it.
Go Dodgers 💙
Juan Soto is not worth 600mill . He’s not worth anything close to 600m
He’s worth 400mill
Aren't the Dodgers going 6 man rotation?
For all those upset, how does this "ruin" baseball? I think people just hate the Dodgers and are constantl looking for a reason to knock them down.
Cano to Mariners
Beautiful Thanksgiving segment. Especially Chris' final message.... Feelin the love.
Thanks, guys.
Stuffing is elite! Dressing is weak.
All other 29 billionaire owners can do what the Dodgers are doing too.
Stop saying "we got a superteam now', they have been a superteam for over a decade. Horrible for baseball, good for dodgers. Just causing less and less interest for 29 other fanbases in a sport that already in decline.
Love Trev, he's got a lot of insight on hos the game is played that you can't really get from anyone that hasn't played at a major league level. But sometimes his opinions just aren't it.
Translation: Trev doesn't agree with my opinion, so I am going to make a dumb comment acting like I know what is objectively correct (despite it being a subjective question)
Typo eh but Trev does have some good advice re the ladies I’m sure
Salary cap is coming. 😂
