What a fun episode this is, and what an amazing place to explore. I'd imagine the animals are definitely out there at night. Especially if there's that trail cam.
I would expect there to be more signs of habitation near Alphie Springs, being that it is a good source of water. I camped out there last January, and hiked around grabbing some geocaches, but I didn't see any grinding slicks or mortars. Did you spot anything of the sort?
Definitely need to go back and spend more time there. I didn't get too much of a chance to look closely, but I agree that with a close enough look, there's probably lots to see that eludes the average gaze.

Kangaroo rats,Mojave green rattle snakes. Meth heads. Jet fighter training. Cool area to camp and ride dirt bikes. Gets cold in winter months.
