sir according to some other refrences glossopharyngeal has its own dura sheath and doesnt pass through the carotid sheath?
It passes in the upper part of the carotid sheath with the X, XI & XII nerves then leaves the carotid sheath above the posterior belly of the digastric tp pass deep to the hyoglossus muscle. The only nerve which passes through the whole length of the carotid sheath is the vagus nerve.
