    22:24 you can only use the elbow fittings on the bags. The straight fittings are to be used with the air lift wireless compressor kit. It connects the braided lines of the bags to the nylon lines of the compressor.

    Should have bought a set of Timbergrove air springs, all the brackets and nuts and bolts are stainless, no cutting parts off, no grinder. The best kit on the market in my opinion, plus you can remove them and put them on another Ram.

      Looks like another nice kit. Thanks for the tip.

      Because I was still learning how to use my phone for video and learning TH-cam lol. Hopefully my newer stuff is better. Learn as you go.

    I was a frame mech back in the late 60's and early 70's and did a lot of grinding and torch cutting around fuel tanks all the time. I was taught that if u fill the fuel tank up all the way including the inlet , there's no way it can explode even with direct flames. I proved that to myself many years later out in a field with a gas can. But before I proved it, during the first couple of times of cutting around a tank and having molten hot steel fly over the the tank, I still had a pucker factor that would last for days. When the people in the shop stopped working and went outside while I was cutting, that didn't help.
    Also, I did a lot of these air bags even back then, and I had them on my trucks (for a while). The thing I didn't like about them was the awful stiff ride even when they were completely deflated. Is this how these new bags ride empty?

      With no air in the bags I can't even tell they are there.

      Instructions call for 5 lbs psi minimum,100 lbs psi maximum. putting 15 lbs made the truck ride smoother.

    Yeah I put the air fittings to the inside of the truck. Directions say outboard but f that too close

    It squats because it’s a car.
    A car has coil springs.
    Ram 1500 are not a tow vehicle.
    Payload capacities are less than most SUV’s
    Air bags just hide the problem.

    Wonder if it would be better to ditch the spring and just use the airbag and shocks?

    • @hotrodyj
      @hotrodyj  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you had an on board air system that should work just fine. I actually use the air bags very little. Just when I'm towing a trailer with very heavy tongue weight. But it's nice to know it's there when I do need it. I tow a 5-6k lb trailer for church every two weeks and don't even use them for that.

    Where did you get that black rear step bar from that’s on your bumper?

    • @hotrodyj
      @hotrodyj  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I made it from an old Jeep sway bar.

      @@hotrodyj quick question - I installed some fuel rims and 35 inch tires and now I get a vibration in the rear at 70 mph highway speed. Do you have vibration with your tires?

    • @hotrodyj
      @hotrodyj  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RickySlatton yeah my Falkin MT 33x12.50-20's have never been smooth. Tried two different shops and neither could get them perfect. I'll be going to ATs instead of MTs next time and see if that helps.
      The truck already had the wheels on it when I got it but I don't recall having a balance issue until I put new tires on it.

      @@hotrodyj Yea, me too. I have some GoodYear wrangler A/T and they still shake. It’s very irritating when you can’t reach a certain speed. I did the same thing and took it to two different shops, and they still couldn’t balance them right. I won’t be going with goodyear tires anymore.

    At the beginning of your video you describe the exact problem I have with our 2021 Ram 1500 when towing a trailer. That is, no amount of tension on the load leveling system will stop the excessive rear end sag of the truck. Like you, I find that unacceptable. Did the Air Lift system you used fix that problem when towing a trailer? And thanks for the instructions, really well done

    • @hotrodyj
      @hotrodyj  ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely yes it fixed the sagging! I can set the rear as stiff as I like now. Especially when towing heavier tongue weights.

      @@hotrodyj Thanks for the response. I'm going with the Air Lift 5000 then. Looks like the install on a 2021 Ram might be even a bit easier now where they mount to the frame. We'll see. Thanks again for your actual experience with the Air Lifts.

    How does the truck pull with the airbags installed?

    • @hotrodyj
      @hotrodyj  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like it much better. My last truck was a dually so I like stiff rear suspension. The air bags definitely help with that handles much better.

  • @bperkins8706

    How you like your airbags. Looking at getting these for my 21 Ram dually

    • @hotrodyj
      @hotrodyj  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No complaints so far other than. I need to add an on board compressor. They do leak down over or so but I haven't checked to see how quickly or checked for leaks. I do like the added stiffness to my suspension. Feels much more steady. Overall very happy.

    Does anyone know what size airline these bags run?

    • @tlover94

      1/4 inch air line

    Hey, how is your truck is driving quality now?

    • @hotrodyj
      @hotrodyj  ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly like factory since the stock springs are still there and you don't have to add air to the bags till you want to. Technically you should leave 5 psig minimum in the bags but that's not really noticeable.
