KFC has done similar unreasonable promotions for deliveries in my country. I think they just do that to fatten the tip of the delivery guy. People usually just feel awful when they can't make the advertised delivery time (you know that money is coming out of someone..). That was before delivery apps.
@@ShaferHart , in THEORY it makes sense as a promotion to get people on the door twice and make them feel like they got away with something in the process which in turn makes them feel good about themselves and that feeling will be related to the "restaurant" ... HOWEVER ... Whoever decided to implement said promo not only has never worked at McDonald's (not even as a manager) but probably has not eaten at one like a regular person because anyone who goes there knows it's not a good idea to force employees to such a strict timeline. That takes both a physical and an emotional toll. You are just stressed all the time cause your flight or fright instinct is ok all the time.
I live in Tokyo and when I order McDonalds or any fast food and they're like "Oh, X will be a three minute wait we're so sorry for the inconvenience." I just want to be like, "Please chill. Take your time. I ordered McDonalds, I am obviously not doing much with my life."

Back 30 or 40 years ago, American McDonald's restaurants for a short period of time had second-hand clocks up on the... whatever you call those menu boards above and behind the cashiers. It was the same basic deal. That didn't last long.
A friend from Chicago went to McDonalds in Osaka because she was in Japan for Mt Fuji, not the food. (I had had noodles at a street stall. So delicious!) When I asked her how it compared to an American McD’s, she said they were loud and fast. Then she paused and said she’d never had anyone in Chicago RUN to the condiment dispenser to get her ketchup for her fries. “They don’t run for you in Chicago...”

Osaka has about as many people as Chicago but in 1/3 of the space. So they get a lot of traffic. I knew one girl who ate at Japanese McDonald's every day. (She was an English teacher.) She came to Japan as this cute latina girl and within 1 year ballooned out. You can't eat that stuff more than once a week at absolute max, and even that is really quite dangerous...
I was a diligent and polite worker, but we used to have this lady who came in who was suuuuuch a lazy cow. She would always demand you brought her things (like napkins etc) and I'm like.... you walked passed the self service area to get to your seat. You literally had to pass it. I would still bring her things with a smile etc, but she was so ungrateful and rude all of the time.
I love that this guy speaks perfect english but still feel the need to put subtitles. I mean he gets that everyone got a different ear when it comes to accents, and just put subtitles, kudos gents.
i wish i had subtitles when i work with new partners in construction, sometimes it's german people, some other times italians, everyone has a different accent and i need 1 or two weeks before i understand them without the need for them to repeat.
It also sounds like they're saying "It's 39" all the time. (Sankyuu=39 in Japanese, and is a common pun.) There's a famous vitamin drink in Japan called Match, pronounced ma-chi. They sometimes have a berry flavor, or berry ma-chi. I think you can see where this is going. A friend helped me when I was sick, and she brought me Match to help get me back to health. After I recovered, I scoured the internet and local kombinience stores and finally put together 39 of the berry variety, leading to: san kyuu berry machi ......
@@BallBagDonnie Think about the way we say numbers in English and that will give a hint. For years like 1996, we break it into 19 and 96. Or a phone number, where usually we give single digits but sometimes connect them into two-number pairs. You can do the same thing in Japanese. If you say "san" "kyuu" to a Japanese speaker, they'll still see 3 9 in their head. It doesn't work perfectly, because you're right, you do need juu for the tens position, but for a pun/joke, it doesn't matter so much. Good enough, in other words. There was a restaurant near my house that went by 3 9, so I think it's fairly popular
I also worked at McDonalds in...1978. This was before the McNuggets. I recall an article posted in the store about McDonald's opening its 8000th store. I think now there are 8000 McDonalds just in Detroit now. But you are right, it is a hateful thing for corporations to make people act unnatural. I remember United Airlines made us give our name to the callers, even callers filled with venom and revenge on their mind. So...I gave my otherwise, unused, middle name Lawrence. To this I added Mr. and became Mr. Lawrence. "What is your first name", they would ask. "Mr." I would respond. lol
From Detroit, and can confirm 8000 McDonalds. And they are all really lousy. Forget ordering a smile, forget even eye contact, hell, most of the time the employees don't even FACE you anymore. I'm not joking, they will loudly talk shit with their fellow employees while sticking their arm out behind them to take your money or give you your cold, wrong food order. Sometimes they won't even do THAT, if it's late and slow they sometimes just act like they're closed and not take any orders.
My dad worked at a McDonald's in the 80s when I was a kid. He said his manager was trying to force him to use rotten onions on the quarter pounders and my dad refused so they were arguing about it, and the owner just happened to stop by at that time and asked him why they were bickering. My dad explained and said he would not serve rotten food and possibly make someone sick, and the owner gave the manager a mean face and took a few bucks out of the register and handed it to my dad and told him to go to the grocery store across the street and buy some onions. This was totally against McDonald's policy, since they have specific suppliers they're under contract to use. They're supposed to just tell customers they are out of something. But he was the owner of that franchise and many others in the area, so I guess he made his o n decision about it. Anyway, dad bought the onions and cut them up and then manager got a very stern lecture about why you shouldn't serve rotten food. No idea why he wasn't fired.
First off, your videos are amazing. It is really cool to see listen about Japan from the POV of a person who has raised there. Secondly, when you talked about having to say "Sankyu Desu" as a response to anything, it kinda reminded me how at Chick-Fi-La (a highly popular fast food restaurant in the states), employees respond to everything with "My Pleasure". While it is nowhere near as bad as how it is at Japanese McDonalds, it can get quite annoying having to say that every time you do anything for a customer. I understand being kind to customers, but it is relentless. This was based on my personal experience while working there.
Domino's Pizza used to guarantee a pizza delivered to your doorstep in 30 minutes or less until some Domino's delivery drivers got in car accidents and I think even a couple even died. All the company got out of it is a couple lawsuits and a reputation for terrible tasting Pizza
We had the 60 second promotion in Germany as well, and we had the same result: they fucked up the assembly and were visibly stressed. I don't get it either. The appeal of McD is that you get okay food at an okay pace for an okay price.
It's 90seconds from order (payment finished) to present (pick up food) at the moment and it's very hard to achieve without tricking. it doesn't work with large orders.

@@Leenapanther It doesn't really work even at busy hours we can't make the 90sec. so you delete the orders during quiet hours to achieve 90sec average in the end of the day.

I apologize to all Japanese McDonald's workers on behalf of my wife. Everytime we get McDonald's she always orders a teriyaki burger. Never realized that we were killing people's souls until now.
At least in the US, I think up to 1980, McDonald's was proud to tell people that some large percentage of adults (maybe 10%) started their working careers there. It was not a job to be ashamed of.
Work in general has changed over the past 40 years as the country (well the west in general) shifted from a manufacturing economy to a service economy. You used to go work at a factory when you got out of school and slowly work your way up to management if you could and often retire from the same factory you started at, and almost certainly in the same industry even if you ended up switching companies. And that mindset existed in the service industry as well quite a bit, though not necessarily as strongly (you could easily work at say, Sears for 20 or 30 years if you wanted back in the day). But as automation slowly took over factories at home and globalization pushed factory jobs that couldn't be automated out to cheaper labor markets elsewhere, we ended up with a massive glut of people looking for jobs and a rapidly growing service industry that was happy to employ them. But then somebody realized "hey, this job could be done by a kid in high school for 1/2 the wages.. lets just hire them.. on Mr. Family Man needs a job? Here's the new wage floor set by that kid who only needs enough money to buy some baseball cards and maybe save up for a new bike over the course of 6 months". And now basically all unskilled labor jobs pay crap and are considered crap. Even though there's still a continuously-growing number of unskilled labor jobs out there (barring major recessions of course..) there's also a continuously-growing number of "unskilled" workers as more and more jobs get replaced by robots (globalization isn't really a major cause of job loss anymore no matter what Republicans tell you - most things that could be exported to cheaper labor markets have already done so two decades ago back when Republicans were the ones telling us that we all needed to embrace globalization for the sake of those poor multinationals' bottom lines).
If everything is perfect, the 60 seconds thing is actually feasible. Back in the day I was able to make a big mac in 15 seconds. Wrapping it took longer for me tbh. I always was bad at wrapping quickly. But once your screen started filling up and you start pending orders (you have more orders than there is room on the screen for), then you're screwed.
As a person who hates working with other people, hate forced smiling while working and get pissed easily my condolences go out to all of you working such jobs
As a current McDonalds employee, I get so bored of just responding to people normally and just started replying with broken Japanese and it confuses the hell out of everyone lol.

I worked as an older teen at a U.S. McDonald's in the later 90's... During the mini beanie baby promotion... I am scarred to this day from the crazies who plagued me during those weeks. I really feel your pain about expectations versus reality in working a job like that, and how demanding it really is.
@@danji9485 I'd be upfront about which three we'd have as soon as I knew that's what they were there for. On Fridays, we'd get new stock for the weekend. The dining area all day would be like Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds. Any staff seen lugging a box would get a swarm of people to the counter. I began just getting condiments for restocking out in the back room on a tray just so I could work in peace. I know Japan doesn't do tipping, but my job made me appreciate food workers and delivery drivers. I give at least 15 percent tip because I also waitressed at a local donut shop. One of my mottos is Always be kind to the people who handle your food, and your meds. This covers doctors and nurses because they deserve it too (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤
Same, I was a worker during the beanie babies, they had me working cashier, I'm normally the grill cook. It was crowded, but the customers weren't that pushy at my location.

As a marketing major, even I’m baffled at the “60 seconds” promotion! 😂 Also, working at a BBQ restaurant as my first job was hell! Especially since I was in a college town, so during football games, graduation and other ceremonies we were PACKED!
Another marketing major here. I cannot see how this could be positive. Cool, more people might come in curious to see how fast it is or to get coupons. But you're risking handing out undercooked food. Ok, what if you prepare more stuff to be ready to serve? You might end up serving customers food that's been sitting somewhere for a long time and risk food poisoning at worst and a bad experience to the customer at best. Also what if an inspector comes in to the restaurant and finds food that's been sitting there for a couple of hours? Or do you just throw it all away in set intervals? On top of it all you're giving your employees a LOT of pressure and stress, which will worsen the company's image as an employer. Awesome campaign, I like it.

That is not really anything like his critique here. CFA employees don't say that to each other no matter what, which is what he was complaining about. They have to say it to the customer (guest in their terminology). I guess it can be forced, but CFA (in my experience) is one of the only fast-food restaurants where the employee's response to a thank you might ever seem genuine.
I dislike it when people complain about fast food restaurant workers, or any “lower” type of job. If no one works there you don’t get your Big Macs. I admire anyone willing to do the jobs others don’t want to. They keep the world moving

(A) They have one vendor for all ice cream machines which has issues delivering spare parts (B) The revenue for ice cream is really low so the company policy is to keep those machines out of order as long as possible (C) The employees have issues with using the machine (cleaning too annoying??) and just tell it is broken. Not sure which one it is, usually I thought it's (a), but if it's a global issue it might be (b) or (c) as well.
I'm new here and I think you're comedic timing is perfect 😂 I work at a Burger King in America and we were told to tell customers to "Have a king day!" Even my managers hate it. Who comes up with these unnatural phrases? Also, during the pandemic, most of our customers come through drive-thru. We get scolded for having slow times, and yet Burger King likes to send out free coupons for family sized meals all the friggin time, so we almost always get swamped with multiple big orders in a row.

When I was teenager I worked at a McDonald's in the US for 3 months... Very high demands, very low pay. If we did exceptionally well we got a 5 cent pay raise (it was worthless back then too) ... It was the fasted pace job I've had in my entire life (including the military)... we'd get yelled at if we stood around for a few seconds, even if there were no customers...there was always something that needed re-cleaning... it was crazy... I lived in Japan for 6 months after my son was born (he’s half Japanese), and I remember going to the McDonald’s with my Japanese husband and the food would be ready before I could even put the change in my wallet 😳 the customer service was definitely my favorite part about living in Japan, and I always look forward when I go back 🥰
That would be very pressuring for me. Keeping up with the people serving you: if they are panting you should pant too... That stress would make me not want to go to McDonald's again. (Not that I go, anyway.)
I was at a ryokan in Japan for the 2nd time and they must’ve been overbooked because the wait staff was very prompt with their dinner service. The staff wore traditional Japanese uniforms so you can easily hear the staff rushing when going back and forth to bring me my food. It was totally unnecessary as I felt everyone seemed stressed. I would’ve been fine if they slowed down because Japanese customer service is so good I don’t need it to also be so quick. My first ryokan experience was at a smaller inn and the staff definitely took their time but was very polite all the same.
Worked at mcdonalds almost 2 years ago, I get flashbacks to this day, I was close to tears every shift. I couldn't even imagine a 60 second promotion, I'd have to quit, there's no way I could have that kind of stress
I had one shift where I had to force myself not to cry. It was a late shift (so severely understaffed but busy because everyone still goes to McDonald's at 10pm) and there were literally just 3 of us including the manager who was an absolute asshat and he kept talking down to me and I'm like... sorry I can't work 2 front of house tills, the drive thru till, both windows, assemble drinks, food, fries etc all by myself 😭 Thankfully he got fired. I knew he was an awful person long before, but the final straw for the company was him beating his girlfriend on shift. This girlfriend whom he acquired by cheating on his long term partner (another manager) and oohh boy was it fun to be on shift with all 3 of them👀
@@TheHelveticanbarbie I feel that, I worked lates aswell, I remember a couple nights where I would be on both drive thru window 1 and 2, along with front of house till, drinks and fries all at the same time, all because my manager was always going out back to smoke weed, like every 20mins and we were understaffed, I think back to it and i think how the hell that was humanly possible, but I somehow did it, and thats why it was so stressful And yeah everyone seemed to be sleeping with everyone, I didn't understand that... the drama is the only fun part of that job tho

McDonald's was my first job (US). We had that drive-through timer. It didn't matter if it was a 12-passenger van of hungry basketball players after a game, we would be reprimanded for not meeting an arbitrary time limit. That was so long ago (1990s).
I worked part time at a Japanese McDonald’s too for over two years. But the McDonald’s I worked at wasn’t so strict with the rules. And the burger I hated making was the gran clubhouse burger. The part where you have to stack lettuce on top of a slippery tomato while assembling the grab clubhouse burger was when I used to lose my shit lol
The way you describe the teriyaki burger is exactly how I feel when we have the McRib sandwich here. That thing is impossible to make without getting sauce everywhere.

Back 30 or 40 years ago, American McDonald's restaurants for a short period of time had second-hand clocks up on the... whatever you call those menu boards above and behind the cashiers. It was the same basic deal. That didn't last long.

A friend from Chicago went to McDonalds in Osaka because she was in Japan for Mt Fuji, not the food. (I had had noodles at a street stall. So delicious!) When I asked her how it compared to an American McD’s, she said they were loud and fast. Then she paused and said she’d never had anyone in Chicago RUN to the condiment dispenser to get her ketchup for her fries. “They don’t run for you in Chicago...”

I knew one girl who ate at Japanese McDonald's every day. (She was an English teacher.) She came to Japan as this cute latina girl and within 1 year ballooned out. You can't eat that stuff more than once a week at absolute max, and even that is really quite dangerous...
I'm surprised that there are ketchup dispensers. Where I'm from we get small packages of ketchup and they cost 50 cents.
I was a diligent and polite worker, but we used to have this lady who came in who was suuuuuch a lazy cow. She would always demand you brought her things (like napkins etc) and I'm like.... you walked passed the self service area to get to your seat. You literally had to pass it. I would still bring her things with a smile etc, but she was so ungrateful and rude all of the time.

There's a famous vitamin drink in Japan called Match, pronounced ma-chi. They sometimes have a berry flavor, or berry ma-chi. I think you can see where this is going. A friend helped me when I was sick, and she brought me Match to help get me back to health. After I recovered, I scoured the internet and local kombinience stores and finally put together 39 of the berry variety, leading to: san kyuu berry machi ......

Or a phone number, where usually we give single digits but sometimes connect them into two-number pairs. You can do the same thing in Japanese. If you say "san" "kyuu" to a Japanese speaker, they'll still see 3 9 in their head. It doesn't work perfectly, because you're right, you do need juu for the tens position, but for a pun/joke, it doesn't matter so much. Good enough, in other words. There was a restaurant near my house that went by 3 9, so I think it's fairly popular

I think now there are 8000 McDonalds just in Detroit now. But you are right, it is a hateful thing for corporations to make people act unnatural. I remember United Airlines made us give our name to the callers, even callers filled with venom and revenge on their mind. So...I gave my otherwise, unused, middle name Lawrence. To this I added Mr. and became Mr. Lawrence. "What is your first name", they would ask. "Mr." I would respond. lol

From Detroit, and can confirm 8000 McDonalds. And they are all really lousy. Forget ordering a smile, forget even eye contact, hell, most of the time the employees don't even FACE you anymore. I'm not joking, they will loudly talk shit with their fellow employees while sticking their arm out behind them to take your money or give you your cold, wrong food order. Sometimes they won't even do THAT, if it's late and slow they sometimes just act like they're closed and not take any orders.
My dad worked at a McDonald's in the 80s when I was a kid. He said his manager was trying to force him to use rotten onions on the quarter pounders and my dad refused so they were arguing about it, and the owner just happened to stop by at that time and asked him why they were bickering. My dad explained and said he would not serve rotten food and possibly make someone sick, and the owner gave the manager a mean face and took a few bucks out of the register and handed it to my dad and told him to go to the grocery store across the street and buy some onions. This was totally against McDonald's policy, since they have specific suppliers they're under contract to use. They're supposed to just tell customers they are out of something. But he was the owner of that franchise and many others in the area, so I guess he made his o n decision about it. Anyway, dad bought the onions and cut them up and then manager got a very stern lecture about why you shouldn't serve rotten food. No idea why he wasn't fired.

First off, your videos are amazing. It is really cool to see listen about Japan from the POV of a person who has raised there. Secondly, when you talked about having to say "Sankyu Desu" as a response to anything, it kinda reminded me how at Chick-Fi-La (a highly popular fast food restaurant in the states), employees respond to everything with "My Pleasure". While it is nowhere near as bad as how it is at Japanese McDonalds, it can get quite annoying having to say that every time you do anything for a customer. I understand being kind to customers, but it is relentless. This was based on my personal experience while working there.
Domino's Pizza used to guarantee a pizza delivered to your doorstep in 30 minutes or less until some Domino's delivery drivers got in car accidents and I think even a couple even died. All the company got out of it is a couple lawsuits and a reputation for terrible tasting Pizza

I don't get it either. The appeal of McD is that you get okay food at an okay pace for an okay price.
It's 90seconds from order (payment finished) to present (pick up food) at the moment and it's very hard to achieve without tricking.

I apologize to all Japanese McDonald's workers on behalf of my wife. Everytime we get McDonald's she always orders a teriyaki burger. Never realized that we were killing people's souls until now.
At least in the US, I think up to 1980, McDonald's was proud to tell people that some large percentage of adults (maybe 10%) started their working careers there. It was not a job to be ashamed of.
Work in general has changed over the past 40 years as the country (well the west in general) shifted from a manufacturing economy to a service economy. You used to go work at a factory when you got out of school and slowly work your way up to management if you could and often retire from the same factory you started at, and almost certainly in the same industry even if you ended up switching companies.
And that mindset existed in the service industry as well quite a bit, though not necessarily as strongly (you could easily work at say, Sears for 20 or 30 years if you wanted back in the day). But as automation slowly took over factories at home and globalization pushed factory jobs that couldn't be automated out to cheaper labor markets elsewhere, we ended up with a massive glut of people looking for jobs and a rapidly growing service industry that was happy to employ them.
But then somebody realized "hey, this job could be done by a kid in high school for 1/2 the wages.. lets just hire them.. on Mr. Family Man needs a job? Here's the new wage floor set by that kid who only needs enough money to buy some baseball cards and maybe save up for a new bike over the course of 6 months".
And now basically all unskilled labor jobs pay crap and are considered crap. Even though there's still a continuously-growing number of unskilled labor jobs out there (barring major recessions of course..) there's also a continuously-growing number of "unskilled" workers as more and more jobs get replaced by robots (globalization isn't really a major cause of job loss anymore no matter what Republicans tell you - most things that could be exported to cheaper labor markets have already done so two decades ago back when Republicans were the ones telling us that we all needed to embrace globalization for the sake of those poor multinationals' bottom lines).
That was when it was still good. Now it's just full of angry teens/Adults who hate their jobs and overly processed food.

If everything is perfect, the 60 seconds thing is actually feasible. Back in the day I was able to make a big mac in 15 seconds. Wrapping it took longer for me tbh. I always was bad at wrapping quickly. But once your screen started filling up and you start pending orders (you have more orders than there is room on the screen for), then you're screwed.
As a person who hates working with other people, hate forced smiling while working and get pissed easily my condolences go out to all of you working such jobs

The dining area all day would be like Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds. Any staff seen lugging a box would get a swarm of people to the counter. I began just getting condiments for restocking out in the back room on a tray just so I could work in peace. I know Japan doesn't do tipping, but my job made me appreciate food workers and delivery drivers. I give at least 15 percent tip because I also waitressed at a local donut shop. One of my mottos is Always be kind to the people who handle your food, and your meds. This covers doctors and nurses because they deserve it too (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤
Same, I was a worker during the beanie babies, they had me working cashier, I'm normally the grill cook. It was crowded, but the customers weren't that pushy at my location.

Also, working at a BBQ restaurant as my first job was hell! Especially since I was in a college town, so during football games, graduation and other ceremonies we were PACKED!
Another marketing major here. I cannot see how this could be positive. Cool, more people might come in curious to see how fast it is or to get coupons. But you're risking handing out undercooked food. Ok, what if you prepare more stuff to be ready to serve? You might end up serving customers food that's been sitting somewhere for a long time and risk food poisoning at worst and a bad experience to the customer at best. Also what if an inspector comes in to the restaurant and finds food that's been sitting there for a couple of hours? Or do you just throw it all away in set intervals?
On top of it all you're giving your employees a LOT of pressure and stress, which will worsen the company's image as an employer.

In many Chick-fil-A restaurants here in America, employees are forced to say "My pleasure" to customers, which feels a lot like "sankyu desu." feels kind of forced and rigid
That is not really anything like his critique here. CFA employees don't say that to each other no matter what, which is what he was complaining about. They have to say it to the customer (guest in their terminology). I guess it can be forced, but CFA (in my experience) is one of the only fast-food restaurants where the employee's response to a thank you might ever seem genuine.

(A) They have one vendor for all ice cream machines which has issues delivering spare parts
(B) The revenue for ice cream is really low so the company policy is to keep those machines out of order as long as possible

Also, during the pandemic, most of our customers come through drive-thru. We get scolded for having slow times, and yet Burger King likes to send out free coupons for family sized meals all the friggin time, so we almost always get swamped with multiple big orders in a row.

Your experience is somewhat relatable too. When I was teenager I worked at a McDonald's in the US for 3 months... Very high demands, very low pay. If we did exceptionally well we got a 5 cent pay raise (it was worthless back then too)
... It was the fasted pace job I've had in my entire life (including the military)... we'd get yelled at if we stood around for a few seconds, even if there were no customers...there was always something that needed re-cleaning... it was crazy... I mean, yeah, character-building, but still crazy, lol

I grew up in Hawaii. McDonald's was seen as an elite job. I was never good enough to work at a McDonald's.
I lived in Japan for 6 months after my son was born (he’s half Japanese), and I remember going to the McDonald’s with my Japanese husband and the food would be ready before I could even put the change in my wallet 😳 the customer service was definitely my favorite part about living in Japan, and I always look forward when I go back 🥰
That would be very pressuring for me. Keeping up with the people serving you: if they are panting you should pant too... That stress would make me not want to go to McDonald's again. (Not that I go, anyway.)
I was at a ryokan in Japan for the 2nd time and they must’ve been overbooked because the wait staff was very prompt with their dinner service. The staff wore traditional Japanese uniforms so you can easily hear the staff rushing when going back and forth to bring me my food. It was totally unnecessary as I felt everyone seemed stressed. I would’ve been fine if they slowed down because Japanese customer service is so good I don’t need it to also be so quick. My first ryokan experience was at a smaller inn and the staff definitely took their time but was very polite all the same.

Worked at mcdonalds almost 2 years ago, I get flashbacks to this day, I was close to tears every shift. I couldn't even imagine a 60 second promotion, I'd have to quit, there's no way I could have that kind of stress
I had one shift where I had to force myself not to cry. It was a late shift (so severely understaffed but busy because everyone still goes to McDonald's at 10pm) and there were literally just 3 of us including the manager who was an absolute asshat and he kept talking down to me and I'm like... sorry I can't work 2 front of house tills, the drive thru till, both windows, assemble drinks, food, fries etc all by myself 😭
Thankfully he got fired. I knew he was an awful person long before, but the final straw for the company was him beating his girlfriend on shift. This girlfriend whom he acquired by cheating on his long term partner (another manager) and oohh boy was it fun to be on shift with all 3 of them👀
@@TheHelveticanbarbie I feel that, I worked lates aswell, I remember a couple nights where I would be on both drive thru window 1 and 2, along with front of house till, drinks and fries all at the same time, all because my manager was always going out back to smoke weed, like every 20mins and we were understaffed, I think back to it and i think how the hell that was humanly possible, but I somehow did it, and thats why it was so stressful
And yeah everyone seemed to be sleeping with everyone, I didn't understand that... the drama is the only fun part of that job tho

60 seconds??? That is so crazy! Sometimes the bun toaster takes 60 seconds! Does McDonald's in Japan use a bun toaster? It's so slow. Shun I can't believe you sent a 'floor-seasoned' item out to be consumed. 🤣 All my years working there, I have never used any food that hit the floor. And I have had to talk coworkers out of doing it. 👍😁
They crazy thing that I have come to know about the crew I work with IS ALL OF THE HOOK UPS!!! All kinds of people are constantly hooking up, young & older, married & single. I've never been the gossip type person, what people tell me at work stays with me. Maybe that it why they feel they can tell me anything. And sometimes people become couples after but many don't. SO MANY HOOK UPS just for the sake of casual secs. 😉 I should be used to that by now but it still surprises me.
The 60 second thing is ridiculous, whoever managed that idea clearly didn't even understand what the preparation methods were for the many variety of food McDonalds has.
McDonald's was my first job (US). We had that drive-through timer. It didn't matter if it was a 12-passenger van of hungry basketball players after a game, we would be reprimanded for not meeting an arbitrary time limit. That was so long ago (1990s).

I worked part time at a Japanese McDonald’s too for over two years. But the McDonald’s I worked at wasn’t so strict with the rules. And the burger I hated making was the gran clubhouse burger. The part where you have to stack lettuce on top of a slippery tomato while assembling the grab clubhouse burger was when I used to lose my shit lol
The way you describe the teriyaki burger is exactly how I feel when we have the McRib sandwich here. That thing is impossible to make without getting sauce everywhere.
