In his book, Be Here Now, Ram Das describes meeting Muktananda in India, called him the one guru who got through to the "hard cases." Everyone who spent time in that ashram described "daily miracles." Being at darshan with Baba was like being in the room with an airplane engine going full bore putting out nothing but love.
I really think Muktananda really was the cat's pyjamas. I only looked in his eyes for the brief moment it took him to wack me on the head with a peacock feather, but in videos he's always spontaneous and alive and curious. Something I loved about going to meditations at the various outposts of Sidda was that after the meditation, people would bottle neck at the exit and chat - and they never chatted about Sidda or Muktanada or anything formal and serious - they just talked about who they were where they worked or lived and what they were doing. Muktananda inspired this. When You meditated and chanted, it was serious, but other than that, it was spontaneously being oneself that mattered - being the RESULT of one's meditation - not a groupie blabbing shop talk.
