IWC have a genius marketing department. The faux TV 1980s ad with the authentic wavy VHS lines, the touches around the room reminiscent of Q's workplace from Moore's era, or Kubrick's 2001. Genius. BUT... you had me with the intro music which captured Jean Michel Jarre's Oxygene Pt. 4. Great video. Well done Andrew and Marcus: awesome, even though you must have been exhausted.
@@sebbyhunt3068 An adjustable clasp exists. IWC is releasing a different clasp for this particular model and people will be able to change between both. There are videos on youtube about it already. But with this style of watch I personally think the butterfly clasp works best, like with most Genta designs.
It's a retro launch. They're giving you the experience of the same feeling as when the Royal Oak was launched in 1972 which was at that time also an overpriced steel watch. Everyone is complaining it's too expensive but IWC hope to put it beside the even more unaffordable and unattainable AP & Pateks. The problem is that every other brand has an integrated bracelet watch inspired by Genta design. IWC is 40 years too late. I feel it's missing something, like an 8 sided bezel. I think they'd make a more successful campaign creating bio ceramic MoonSwatch copy of the Pilot line

Apart from perpetual calendars IWC should consider their pricing strategy , GP Laureato while not perfect is still much ahead in design while being close in price, a lot of brands need to review their pricing to be in line with their secondary market positions if they want to stay relevant kudos to Cartier here.
Funny about the "flow" adding the crown guards. The original design was all about angularity so I don't know why they would change that. The crown guards bother me way much than movement or price.

And the price is justified, how? A 6k watch, max. Any vestiges of goodwill this once great brand had, just evaporated. IWC has serious delusions of grandeur - these days it's a Tudor level brand. For this watch, charging GP, Parmigiani, Chopard, JLC, Blancpain money. Laughable if it wasn't insulting. And who made Genta Yoda anyway? One great design and a hundred derivative, sub-par riffs on a theme.
You can't compare the fake Rolex to Iwc, Tudor is on the same level as longines and oris. This is a flagship model from iwc, it's price has to be higher, how is it okay for Rolex to charge £10k for a submariner and nobody minds but if iwc do the same it's overpriced?. All luxury watches are overpriced, most steel watches will cost less than £500 to make.
