Hi Maureen, I’m glad you are interested in exploring the world of wine and you liked the How to Build a Wine Collection video. There are currently 145 informative videos on my channel with more posting every Sunday at 9:00 am. Subscribe, explore, enjoy, and stay curious.
Do you work in the industry of F&B or are you just a very avid wine fan? If you actively work with wines I'd love to hear how you market such. My fascination has been with Greek wines, and I'm curious as to how best to get people in rural Wisconsin (where I work) to break off from the familiarity (an in my mind - monotony) of the classic noble grapes.
Hi Mitch: I am a certified French Wine Scholar and I'm employed by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. We are blessed with a State Store System that tolerates inventory and has over 620 stores. Most stores carry about 4,000 wines so selection is exceptional. Exposing people to obscure wines is my passion. I believe there is a whole world of wines out there begging to be tried. Getting into a rut (ie Cabernet) is a big mistake. Stay adventerous.
Hi Vincent: Thank you for tuning into my channel. The room you referred to is not precisely climate controlled but it stays pretty cool year round. Wine is more sensitive to light and heat so as long as you store your wine in a cool, dark place, you should be fine for a decade or more. What is more sensitive is the type of wine you choose to age. You may want to check out my video, “the science of aging wine”. That makes a deeper dive into the subject. Cheers, Dave
Hi Jed: I'm appreciate you tuning in and I'm thrilled you learned something. Stay adventurous and enjoy your wine journey. New videos posted every Sunday and 125 on the channel already. Explore and Enjoy!
Hey Dave!!! I’m freshly 21 and my parents have been introducing me to alcohol for the past 6 months!!! I love your videos and came back here because wine is my favorite and I’m looking to start a collection. I know this is very forward but I was hoping that maybe you could gift a subscriber with a few to start that you recommend😁🍷
Hi CMSlakers: Welcome to the Club! It sounds like you have some guidance from your parents and I’m thrilled you are surfing my channel and it’s 150+ videos. For those starting out, I always say start light. For whites, that means wines that have lower glycerine like Pinot Grigio. For reds, that means wines that are lighter in tannins like Pinot Noir. You can build from there. Did I answer your question? Was that what you were asking? Dave
Hi CMSlakers: Thank you for clarifying. Unfortunately, I am not able to gift wine to viewers. In a perfect world, I would love to but I can’t. I would encourage you to seek out inexpensive wines and build up from there. Maybe put a portion of your weekly pay aside and invest in a new bottle. Start small and grow from there. That’s what I did. Dave
Thanks for tuning in, Helder. Good point on the Port. I chose to make it a separate video since the process is a little different. I hope you found the Port video on my channel and watched it. More to come.
Hi Matthias, thank you for tuning into my channel. I agree, Riesling is definately a wine I have in my cellar. I prefer German or Alsace. Unfortunately, when I made this video, I was trying to provide a high-level overview and did not mention that special grape. I do have other videos about Riesling. Please check them out and let me know what you think. Dave
Good to see you are back at your videos.
Thanks for tuning in, Charles. Another one is on its way!
Thank you for the heads up... I would really love to know more and explore...

I envy to have such a nice collection like behind you! BTW, does it climate controlled room?

I was asking about starting a collection, yes. I was also asking if you ever gave any wines in some sort of giveaway or gifted fans with bottles?

This was incredibly helpful!! Exactly what I needed!!
I would add fortify wine for desert like Port Wine or Madeira!
