The drummer in this song is Rob Snijders (indeed, pronounced Snyders), who is married to Anneke van Giersbergen. As with Nightwish, it seems every new song you hear is even better - and the more when you discover the story in which the songs each play a part. I love it.
Damian has such control vocally. First encountered him singing for Arjen at the Star One live 2003 concert with the Jansen sisters as the only female singers. Also Arjen singing and playing guitar before he stepped back.
Damian being the Gentle Storm.... which happens to be yet another signature band name from Arjen's musical universe! As Paul already said: we're glad that you liked it. But that shouldn't be such a surprise, since Arjen is indeed the Master of Progressive music. And yes, when Arjen calls, you'd better have a damn good reason not to pick up! But I guess there are not many artists who decline a chance to perform at an Arjen concert. Rob Snijders is usually a percussionist rather than a drummer. But as you can see in this video, he can very well take Ed's place when needed. And hold on tight, 'cause in the (near) future there will be a lot more Ayreon and related content coming up suggested by me!
This album has been on repeat this whole year. Went to the show Life beneath the Waves in Tilburg last september, best concert I’ve ever been to. Damien has confirmed me that he hugged all 15.000 fans from over 60 countries at Ayreons show. After his solo live show in november he came and meet us in the bar at the venue. He didn’t spent all night at the bar after the magical gig for he had given us everything despite the concussion he suffered: Hero!!! His hugs are very nice, he is a wonderful human being! His energy is beautiful!
Marcel is a darling too, he and his wife stayed for drinks at a ‘terrasje’ in the street close to the venue after the very last show. He told us that Britney Slayes, who took over Floors parts, did that without repetition with the band at all!!! The other 18 singers had only one, the general. The street was one big party, the musicians were all passing by, hugging, singing with all the people, I fell in love with all of them, was so fortunate to be able to give a little presents and hugged everyone but Jonas, he is very shy. Wat a weekend with so many beautiful people!
I am jealous I did not get to hug Damian, I do have a picture of him and maybe you have seen me. I was at that Ayreon concert and the same Damian Wilson concert, I have blue hair isn't hard to miss.
@@martinehermans6661 Yes, he got people on stage that day. I was on the stage, we were in Tilburg on friday, saturday and sunday but we had our show on sunday.
Great Reaction! Song is from The Universal Migrator Part 1: The Dream Sequencer album. Album concept. After the final World War wipes out life on earth a small group of humans have escaped to Mars but because they can't resupply themselves the settlers slowly die off until the last remaining human, The Colonist, is left. To fight boredom scientist invented a machine, The Dream Sequencer, to allow people throuhg hypnosis to travel back in time. In When the Druids Turn to Stone the Colonist travels back to 2500 BC to witness Druids creating Stonehenge by turning themselves into the monuments via magic.
I recently discovered you as a reactor, you are great man! This show is nothing short of spectacular I know it takes time but deserves to be done entirely from beginning to end If not possible at least do Waking Dreams, which has Anneke and Jonas on vocals and a ridiculously infectuous groove, will be nice to hear your thoughts on it!
I had a little chat with Damian in Tilburg and he complained that Arjen only let him sing the soft songs whereas he would like to rock out as well. I'd like to hear that! But whatever he sings, I love it. Beautiful voice and a very nice guy.
It's a cliche as old as old as "Mannix" that losing senses makes the remaining ones stronger. Arjen L lost his sense of smell and of taste decades ago. I wonder if that has enhanced his ability to work with sound and pluck out just the talent he needs. ••• Boughs! HOLLY!!!

Not sure what video you're watching, but that is clearly Ed Warby...
@@havenhobby3729 No, that is definitely Rob Snijders.
I find this song somehow very soothing, love Damian’s voice in everything he does with Arjen’s music

So jealous you saw that concert. The video of Into the Black Hole is one of my favorite songs with both Floor and Irene.
@@rnowak85 Only saw it on TH-cam but it was the first time that I saw Damian and yes Floor and Irene singing Valley of the Queens is so good too.

Even better concert than this one? Ok I really need to watch the recording of that lol
Seems fitting that a druid sings about druids turning to stone. Another song Damien sings is Intergalactic Space Crusaders with Maggie.
I concur
I concur!
I'm glad you enjoyed that, but I knew you would, great analysis as usual.

Did you hear the stuff he made with Arena?
Its f***ing amazing!!!
Recommandation: The Equation (The Science of Magic)
@@Avalarion87 Yes, I did. The album is amazing, love it.
Interesting you mentioned The Gentle Storm…Arjen has another project by that name.
Yes! The Hammond organ ❤
One of my favorite songs by Ayreon ever!!!
Great Reaction as always my good sir !!!!!
So beautiful.
Maybe my favorite song of the set. Thx for reacting tö this one
Arjen is getting the best and more out of the singers and musicians, they didn't know they could do.
The FLOOR is Strong in you Grashopper.
You should listen to the album version of the song, it's longer I think and hits even harder.
Dude, check out Garden of emotions, the riff is incredible
